Today is the 8th anniversary of the death of what many older reds say was our finest footballer ever to wear the shirt, the legendary Billy Liddell.

Stories Ive read about him suggest he was amongst the very best of his generation and he was a vital part of the clubs history

Rest in Peace Billy

RIP Billy mate.

It's an honour to share your name and from what I've heard you were as good as it got. We weren't known as Liddellpool for nothing

Brian you are 100% correct when you talk about the late great Billy Liddell, when I was a young lad Billy Liddell was the player we all aspired to be.When we played football after school in the street we all wanted to be Billy. It should be remembered that Billy lost a big percentage of his footballing life due to the second world war, what would he of been like if it was not for that lousy war.If you ever need a player to show the kids of today what dedication, humility, skill and effort for the cause of L.F.C.is all about show them Billy Liddell.R.I.P. This RED  will never forget you, thanks for the memories. To any REDS fans who never saw Billy Liddell play you do not know what you missed.

I have bumped this thread because I think Billy Liddell deserves to be kept at the top of the board.

Indeed he does.

I've got one of the first editions or whatever of his autobiography My Story. It's one of those books where the cover is in about 4 colours and looks dead old (which it is).  Can't find a image of it on the net - the book is safe at my mums house.

I probably haven't read it in 20 years but I really should have another read.

No doubt, one of Liverpool's all time greats.

I wasn't here when it was his anniversary so I'd just like to pay my respects now and say RIP Billy.

An all time great for our club who will always be remembered.
