I know it's over a week away but just to get back discussing the Mighty Reds on a football field can't come quickly enough. Our first pre-season game, first chance to see Johnson in a Liverpool shirt (hopefully) another chance to see a few of the youngsters deputising for the Spanish lads who I'd imagine are likely to be given a bit of a longer rest.

Be interesting to see who does get a run out. It could give us a further indication of how Rafa is looking at the situation surrounding possible transfer targets out I.e. Masch. If Rafa feels Masch has disrespected him then I wouldn't be surprised to see our number 20 left out. It'll also be interesting to see which of our "fringe" players get a run out, the likes of Babel to see if they're in the plans or if a youngster like El Zhar has overtaken them in the pecking order.

Less than two weeks till we're back on a football field.

Excitement for the new season is already building.

As much as it is nice to see the boys back in action friendly games are pretty boring to watch because they are played at a half pace and the result really means nothing.

Nice to see how some of the young players play since there is a few of them that could earn a spot with the first squad.

I usually like to watch the friendly matches to take a look at the new signings we have made but as we only have one so far it will probably the fringe players and youth who get an outing. The biggest reason for these type of friendlys is to give the opposite team a financial boost during these lean times.

As the new season gets nearer the excitement and anticipation starts to kick in,I wonder if people who continually moan about the team (even when we are going well ) get the same buzz when a new season approaches.I for one cannot wait for the season to begin.

I've hated the off season thank god we had the confederations cup.

Regarding the match I think a fair few fringe players will be getting a run out Degen Nemeth Ngog Insua would all be welcome additions imo

About 11 days before our first pre-season runout. Are the players back in training yet?

Should be a cracking game anyway - nothing beats seeing Liverpool play.

I can't wait either.

Hopefully the lads will put some goals in and it'll be great to see the new season starting up.

I'm so excited. I missed not seeing the lads play on a weekly basis.

Hopefully we can get off to a decent start, and put us in a confident mood.

I can't wait to see the lads kicking a ball again, competitive or no.

About 11 days before our first pre-season runout. Are the players back in training yet?

Been thinking that myself. We usually get pictures on the official site of the first day of training. My guess would be Monday.

We all look forward to games and now its coming up, the players are returning back to training and we'll all want to have a good look at them again! The Spanish lads will only be back for the Far East tour, and that is the 19th of July though, hopefully they get a good 2 full weeks break from now (They've had 1 already).

But the other lads, no excuses but they should be back eagerly not with a heavy heart. They've got a 5-6 week break already so they shouldn't be complaining, so get us entertained with football again! Wink

What's the St Gallen first XI btw, and are they any good? I haven't got a clue what kind of team are they - what manager, what players etc.

Good lad Billy. Good to talk about LFC playing footie again even if it is a meaningless friendly.

I reckon we'll win 7-0 and Pacheco will get a hat trick.

My team would be:

Itandje, Darby, Kelly, Agger(c), Dossena, Lucas, Plessis, El Zhar, Spearing, Babel, N'gog.

In a 4-2-3-1 as shown:

Itandje
Darby Kelly Agger(c) Dossena
Lucas Plessis
El Zhar Spearing Babel
N'gog

Subs: Cavlieri, Degen, Insua, Mascherano, Pacheco.

Good chance to see whether Itandje is good enough to play for us, after his antics at Hillsborough.  Lucas and Plessis play the holding midfield role, whilst Spearing acts as the Stevie G, right behind N'gog, who acts as the Torres.  Agger is the only regular first-teamer so he gets the armband, and Babel will be given a full 90-minute assessment to see what he offers.

Please tell me you are not serious!

He was never good enough to start with but after his antics the only chance he deserves is the chance to get the hell out of our club. It would be disrespectful to all the families that lost people in the disaster if he were to ever play for us again, as well as being being disrespectful to those that were lost!

Let's hope they all get a go, I'm not sure what of a threat St Gallen are, but I hope we give them the opportunity, with the exception of Itandje of course.

Lilly Allen's just written a song about you.

Intandge?

You cannot be serious! (Sorry but I'm still trying to get the tennis out of my head).

ON TOPIC

Great that the games are kicking off again and I can get over my withdrawal symptoms.  Pity there isn't a local venue like Crewe or Wrexham as in the past.

Keeping my eye out for the ticket sales for the home game though.

Totally agree he should be shipped out of the club A.S.A.P, even if he was the best ever which he isnt he should never be allowed to wear the shirt again
