      Stephen Sama (Released)
      Jul 22, 2009 06:14:21 pm
      Stephen Sama
Rafa Benitezā€™s desire to improve the young talent coming through at Anfield has been boosted by the signing of Borussia Dortmundā€™s Stephen Sama on a two-year deal.

Liverpool moved for Sama before Dortmund could secure the 16-year-old on a professional deal.

Sama is a highly-rated defender who has been a regular in the German Under-17 international side.

This is the second time Liverpool have snapped up a young talent from Borussia Dortmund. Previously they secured the signing of Christopher Buchtmann from the Bundesliga side.

      Date of birth: 05.03.1993
      Age: 16
      Height: 1,88
      Nationality:  Germany
      Foot: both
      Position: Defense
      Position details: Centre Back
      Market value: unknown

Unfortunately there is not much information about this new signing ... all we can do is wait until we see him play, hopefully in a pre-season freindly.

Yet another positive signing from Benitez though and I hope he impresses everyone and becomes a top class player.

Big ,clumsy and slow.  Cost us in the youth cup against United.  Wisdom covered his arse time and again.

No he's not that bad, he's ok but Wisdom and Regan are ahead of him.

Unfortunately he'll no doubt go the way of most of the other superkids. We're still yet to see a single one break into the team and become a regular, it's been left to the likes of Kelly, Robinson, Flanaghan etc to carry the flag. Had we done absolutely nothing whatsoever to the scouting set-up since before Houllier started f***ing around with it, we'd no doubt have "discovered" the same three players no problem.

When has Sama ever been described as a 'superkid'?

In the post above yours. I count all these boy wonders who we sign from the four corners of the earth and who people salivate over as "superkids". When we sign a Martin Kelly or a Jack Robinson nobody seems to get overly excited, but if they were called Marcel Kelligos or Jaques Robines there's be people going crazy. Then, they'd be "superkids".

No-one ever called him a superkid, but now because he's foreign and you say so, he's been dubbed as a superkid?

In the post above yours I explained what I meant by "superkid". I haven't "dubbed" anybody anything, you can call him and those like him whatever you like.

This guy has developed heaps and bounds from the last comments read on this topic.

One to watch out for in the future. Performing much better in the reserves now. Probably even knocking on the door for 1st team. Good spare to have and call upon when needed. Though he is still behind Coates, Kelly, Wisdom in the CB position.
