The Boss.

« on: November 24, 2009, 11:55:48 PM »

Obviously, being knocked out of the group stages today means we're in the Europa League. Sure, as a Liverpool fan you want to be at the pinnacle, playing at the best stadiums against the best teams but as a club we have to accept our fate and move on.

Reading around, some don't seem to be interested in the competition we are now entered into. But why? Is it not anther trophy for us to win? Have we not had glorious nights in the competition in the past? (New name, same trophy). Will winning this competition, or atleast getting to the final, be a failure for the club? Personally, I'm excited to see how we go.

It will only act as motivation for the players, fans and club as a whole to show us where we want to be and next season, we as a club will ensure that the Champions League returns home because the memory of being knocked out was too much to bare.

So chins up, eh? Lets try and bring this mother home.

I care - we're Liverpool FC and should be winning every competition we enter.

Sometimes things just don't go our way, with tonight being a fine example of that, but a trophy is a trophy, and we should be winning silverware no matter what it is.

Course it won't be a failure, it's a trophy!

I keep saying it but as a hypothetical question - win this or reach say, the first knockout stage? I'd definately say win this.

I'm definately going to be getting behind the team as always. Granted, feelings won't be the same as if we got far in the CL, but I'd still be buzzing if we won it.

On paper it is a competition we should do very well in. Given our inconsistent form so far this year I am not convinced that we have the right mentality to do well anywhere in any competition. The players have looked down from day one at Spurs - something is fundamentally wrong and until that (whatever it is) gets addressed then we're going to underachieve. But I do agree with you that the fans need to get behind the plaers and the manager and try to be positive - we've been in far worse states than this in the past and come through and this is something else we will come through.

Offcourse I care its a competiiton (UEFA cup) that we have won the most. More importantly its another trophy that we can add to our cabinet.

I agree Ross would rather go all the way in this comp and win in then reach the quarters or the semi's of the CL and walk away empty handed.

The you don't give a sh*t about Liverpool. And therefore should f**k off now.

Any cup we are in we care about. Same argument comes up about Carling Cup. Yeah, sometimes when you get dumped out of something like the Carling Cup you don't care as much as the league or CL. But while we're here, we try to win at all cost.

It's a cup, still competing with sides from all over Europe. So lets go and get 'em.

Maybe Benitez should give players like Pacheo a break in the europa league when will he give him his chance?!?!??!?!?!

This will still keep the money coming in maybe not as much as the CL but atleast it will still provide something we clearly didnt deserve to go thru now got to get used to watching games on Thursdays and on Channel 5 Grin.

To the guy saying he couldnt give a sh*t about this "shitty little cup" dont be such a utter tw*t.

Actually, Ryan Babel himself does have the time to be online, he sends tweets even with several minutes left to a match.

Wished the real Ryan Babel had your attitude though Cheesy

Are you really Ryan Babel?

I've been thinking that for the past half hour or so.

I suggest Mr. Babel99 gets his priorities straight, because I really don't see him as a Liverpool fan.

As the best, and biggest team in the world, we should be winning every trophy available. Regardless of its "value".

Well we're in it now so I say go for it, try and stick another trophy in the cabinet. But I have to be honest, I won't be too disheartened if we got knocked out, the money in it is actually very little in comparison to the CL and I'd rather focus on the FA Cup and the league. Saying that, the cup run in 2001 gave us some memories so maybe I'll get sucked into it. I can't see the last 32 whetting my appetite though.

Might get a ticket.  Bet not a lot of people have UEFA Cup credits knocking around. Wink

In it to win it, and for some boss away trips.
