The Europa League - who cares?

Obviously, being knocked out of the group stages today means we're in the Europa League. Sure, as a Liverpool fan you want to be at the pinnacle, playing at the best stadiums against the best teams but as a club we have to accept our fate and move on.

Reading around, some don't seem to be interested in the competition we are now entered into. But why? Is it not anther trophy for us to win? Have we not had glorious nights in the competition in the past? (New name, same trophy). Will winning this competition, or atleast getting to the final, be a failure for the club? Personally, I'm excited to see how we go.

It will only act as motivation for the players, fans and club as a whole to show us where we want to be and next season, we as a club will ensure that the Champions League returns home because the memory of being knocked out was too much to bare.

So chins up, eh? Lets try and bring this mother home.

Sometimes things just don't go our way, with tonight being a fine example of that, but a trophy is a trophy, and we should be winning silverware no matter what it is.

On paper it is a competition we should do very well in. Given our inconsistent form so far this year I am not convinced that we have the right mentality to do well anywhere in any competition. The players have looked down from day one at Spurs - something is fundamentally wrong and until that (whatever it is) gets addressed then we're going to underachieve. But I do agree with you that the fans need to get behind the plaers and the manager and try to be positive - we've been in far worse states than this in the past and come through and this is something else we will come through.

Any cup we are in we care about. Same argument comes up about Carling Cup. Yeah, sometimes when you get dumped out of something like the Carling Cup you don't care as much as the league or CL. But while we're here, we try to win at all cost.

It's a cup, still competing with sides from all over Europe. So lets go and get 'em.

Well we're in it now so I say go for it, try and stick another trophy in the cabinet. But I have to be honest, I won't be too disheartened if we got knocked out, the money in it is actually very little in comparison to the CL and I'd rather focus on the FA Cup and the league. Saying that, the cup run in 2001 gave us some memories so maybe I'll get sucked into it. I can't see the last 32 whetting my appetite though.

I care because at the end of the day it is still a big trophy and if you win it then you then have the chance to play in the Super Cup against the Champions League winners, which again is another trophy.

When we won it last time it wasn't a drab competition, it was just as tense and good IMO because that game against Alaves was awesome!

Obviously it's not as prestigious as the CL but I would rather win the Europa League than another season without Silverware. It would also secure a place for us in Europe next season so if we were to have a complete failure in the league then there would be that lifeline available to us. Would also give us that little bit extra money, not as much as the CL but again it is better than nothing.

We all know it's not ideal and it's a big blow to have been knocked out of the CL but there is nothing we can do about it so knee-jerking and saying you don't give a sh*t about it is pointless because it's not going to change anything and as we progress through the rounds and get to the final you can't say that you still wont give a sh*t because any true Red would!

"You'll Never Walk Alone" is 24/7. Not, "You'll Never Walk Alone (Except when knocked out of the Champions League and have to play in the Europa League)"

Also, is this not the first season the UEFA Cup has been played as the Europa League? It's only right that we are the first team to win it as the Europa League
