Your Favourite TV Programmes As A Kid
      Jun 03, 2007 10:21:59 pm
I don't know about everyone else, but I always find it a bit of a laugh when you talk about the programmes/cartoons you used to love when you were a kid.
Now I was a young'n in the eighties and there was some great things on tv back then, that I thought would be on forever! But sadly things change and move on and you forget a lot of stuff that you used to love. So hopefully, maybe some of us could remind each other of what we've forgot? A couple of things have been toched upon already in other threads - like Transformers.
But this deserves it's own thread, surely?
Any links and pics would be good... ;D

Just a few of mine then:

      Crackerjack!!!!!!!
      Button Moon!!
      Sesame St
      Terrahawks!!!
He Man (I have the power!!!!)
      Thundercats!
      Dangermouse!!
Dizzy Heights Hotel!! (remember that?  :D)
Dogtanian and the Three Muskerhounds !!!
      Transformers!!!

      Hong Kong Phooey!!

      Here's a good link - Kids TV

      Anyone else like to reminisce?

Funny that Kenny I was telling my missus about Terrahawks the other week. It came up because one of the new actresses in eastenders reminded me of Zelda!! Do you remember Batfink

That's the one! A lot of people I talk to don't remember it. Maybe wasn't as popular as the others.

Thundercats! Best programme ever made, and a crime against society that they took it off the air.

Also does anyone remember Woof, about the boy that turned into a dog? Used to love that.

Now as i was a child of the seventies some of these programmes will have passed you by, shame eh!

Mary, Mungo and Midge - A girl who lived in a tower block with a mouse and a dog, where the hell are social services?

Mr Benn - went to a fancy dress shop and had a different adventure in each outfit

The Double Deckers - The best actor was definitely the dog, also featured Brinsley Ford who went on to the reggae group Aswad.

Banana Splits - good old Fleagle,Deagle,Droopy and Snork, you do have to realise that LSD was very big at the time.

Bagpuss - A girl who's stuffed cat came alive and talked (of course it did!) also feature some very annoying singing mice, god i hated them mice.

Catweazle - A wizard from medieval times transported to modern times, he scared the crap out of me because he looked like the type of fella you shouldn't take sweets off.

Ivor The Engine - Easy going train driver from the valley's who delivered the immortal line "Stoke it don't poke it"

As an eight year old I obviously didn't have the intellectual capacity that you have and just took it for what it was, a kids programme! but now in my later years i can see the flaws in the story and the inferior quality of the animation really did lead to it being a really shoddy piece of work.

It wasn't the animation or anything, it was just too passive for my liking. I used to like programmes with a bit more action. Anyone remember this guy?

Going waaaaaaaay back for me,  Hectors House.  Dusty mop
The Clangers... way out there that was.  the soup dragon, (stolen by a shoddy group)
Chorlton & the wheelies "alo likkle old lady"  Starter for 10 can any one remember the witches name (how sad am I?!?)
Captin Pugwash!  how did they get away with that?   "Seaman Stains" & "Master Baits"  some serious sniggering must have gone on when they missed those at the BBC.
Ludwig.  strange crystal shaped character who played a violin
      Wacky Racers. -
      Stop the Pigion
      Bailey's Commits
      Dangermouse - Golly DM!!
Arabian nights (Size of a Buffalo!) that was on the Banana Splits

I could go on but it brings a tear to my eye.

& there was nothing wrong with Ivor the Engine!!  ("come on Ivor, lets go down to Grumbly Gas Works,  Bar, Bar Bar said Ivor")  Magic days!!

So it must have still been on in the early eighties.

It has to be Magpie for me, the poor mans Blue Peter, and hosted by amongst others the sometimes bra less Jenny Hanley.

The highlight of the week for me.

       One for sorrow,
       Two for joy,
       Three for a girl,
        and four for a boy,
        Maaaagggpiieeeeeeeeeee.
