£66m buy out clause in his contact apparently.
Thats BS. Under the new Fifa regulations(not that new actually) a player has to have wages according to the buyout clause. I doubt Santos has the muscle nowadays to afford such wages.

Thats why most SA players hardly ever cost more than 15 million when sold to Europe. The rest of the price is what representatives earn.Clubs dont really get that much money, or trust me, our clubs would be filthy rich, and we wouldnt need to actually SELL our stars. Still 66M is outragerous

Quite lively at times isn't it. Don't know how it's remained 0-0, could've been a few goals from either team already.

Great finish but I thought Carroll was fairly poor before that. Although he doesn't look 100% sharp but hopefully that goal will boost him.

Also Andy Carroll has scored before Fernando Torres!!!!!!

Thought Carroll done himself well. He was holding the ball up fine. Only had one situation where he looked unsharp when he knocked the ball to far ahead of himself.

Well done lad

Yeah he held the ball up well and did a couple decent touches but I just felt when there was good crossing opportunity he wasn't busting a gut to get in the box.

Anyway I feel this goal will lift Andy now.

Super strike from Carroll.

Still well of the pace though, but he'll be buzzing for training with us now that he has his first goal.

Great goal and well deserved.

Lescott cannot defend. Second time he's been done by Gyan in a matter of minutes.

FT 2-3. Lousy match by Uruguay, got tired in the second half. Abel Hernandez missed too many chances. Luis would have nailed at least one. Good match by Ireland, we could not keep up with the phisical aspects of the match. Young squad too

Great finish but I thought Carroll was fairly poor before that.

Really? Get used to more performances like that then, that is his game. Before during and after he scored, he will not be anything like a Torres typ player. He is simply a target man with a hammer of a left foot.

I have to agree.

I certainly don't expect him to take on 2-3 players whatsoever but I expect him to contribute by creating spaces for his teammates and be a real threat in the air - and he has been brilliant doing both in his like 3 apperances, IMO.
