Forum rules (read this before you post)

The most important post you need to read on this board!

This is a Liverpool FC Forum. It is the forum of the Liverpool FC unofficial and independent website Anfield Online which was first created in 1997 - this forum however was only launched in early 2006.

The forum is free to register and you need to register your username to post or reply to discussions, take part in polls, or access some of the boards hidden from guests. Some downloads, video clips and images are also hidden from guests.

The following rules are in place to help the moderators 'mod' the forum. If you find a post or thread in which your post has been moderated it will be for one of the following reasons.

The Simple rules

Swearing is allowed. An automatic word censor is automatically in place when you join. As a registered user you can turn off this censor (in your Profile) to see the vulgarity in all it's glory. BUT DON'T use any offensive language in the subject of a new topic. If you do this - you will be prevented from starting new topics until we have flogged you several times.
Supporters of other clubs are welcome - if you have something useful to say. If your an idiot we might tolerate you for a bit but if you get boring or post solely to inflame Liverpool supporters - expect a ban.
Do not post IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Your post will be deleted - even if you spent 3 hours typing it.
Avoid using text speak on the forum. Nonsensical posts usually go straight to the big recycle bin.
If you're going to start a topic then start a debate properly. No one line introductions.
Please make sure you source any news stories or forum articles from other websites. Do not post threads consisting just of a link to an article etc - post a short introduction to what it contains or copy and paste the article and your opinions on the link. Also DO NOT post news stories originating from The S*n newspaper or it's online site.
Be an adult - or face a ban. Childish behaviour includes but is not limited to harrasing fellow users either on the boards or via PM, continually going off topic, posting solely to inflame other Liverpool fans, or anything which results in the moderators receiving numbers of complaints about you.

The following is unacceptable

Racism
Extreme personal abuse or threatening violence at another poster. Take the piss yes - continually harrass no
Ticket touting - Face value sales from regular posters is fine - trying to make a few bob out of a fellow red is not
Spam / Advertising - Any promotion of websites or businesses for financial gain (ie. containing excessive advertising) without discussion with a moderator first

Avatars & Signatures

To ensure the forum runs smoothly, loads quickly, and is accesible by as many people as possible (not everyone has broadband remember) please adhere to the following:

Avatars - no bigger than 100 pixels (width) x 150 (height) in size and smaller than 20kb in size.

Signature bars - Graphic images in signature bars should be no bigger than 500 x 150 and should have a maximum total size of 25kb. This is easily achievable. Text in signatures should be inoffensive and not contain any bad language. Signatures should not include advertising or links without discussion with the Admin of the board. Links to personal websites or your own blogs etc is allowed.

Again, users have the option of removing the signature bars from display if you want.

When you Register on this forum

When you register you will receive an activation email to your email address. You will need to click this link in this email to 'activate' your account on the forum. If the email hasn't arrived then check your spam folder (esp. if using a hotmail account). You can choose to keep your email address totally private and confidential, and your password is securely encrypted. If you forget your password you can request a new password sent to your email address.

Once you have logged in take a moment to visit your Profile. You can add your birthday, and upload your own avatar or use one already in the gallery. Your post ranking is linked to the number of posts you make

These rankings are based on official LFC player appearances. As your post count increases you will move through from Liverpool irregulars to some of the legends of Anfield.

Posting privileges

Once you are registered, you will be able to reply to any post replies mmediately on any board. After you have made 25 posts you will then be able to start your own topics on the forum.

Reporting posts and personal messages to the moderators

If you believe any post or personal message you receive to be offensive or in breach of the forum rules, you can report it to the forum moderators. A link exists underneath every post on the forum.

If minor rules are broken - moderators will edit your comment and leave a 'Reason for Edit' at the end of your post.

Finally

We are a completely independent and unofficial Liverpool FC website based in Liverpool.

We are not a campaigning group and have no direct affiliation with any of the LFC related pressure or action groups, even though individuals have their own opinions on particular topics. This forum exists solely for the purpose of enabling interaction amongst Liverpool FC supporters.

This forum is provided free of charge to yourselves and unlike many other forums contains no advertising. If you would like to help in the costs in running this forum then you can make a small donation (see the Forum/Site News board).
