The most important post you need to read on this board!

Introduction

First of all....a massive welcome to the LFC Reds Liverpool FC forum.

This is forum for supporters of the World's greatest football club.  It is connected to the original Liverpool FC unofficial and independent website Anfield Online which was first online in 1997 - this forum however was only launched in early 2006.

The forum is free to register and you will need to be registered to post or reply to discussions, take part in polls, or access some of the boards hidden from guests.  Some downloads, video clips and images are also hidden from guests.

A lot of effort goes in to the smooth running of this forum and the following simple rules help enable the forum staff to help keep LFC Reds as one of the best online communities.

The following rules are in place to help the staff keep the forum tidy, keep the idiots out and to maintain the fantastic LFC spirit we have on here.  We expect all users to abide by them.  Remember that we all support the same club, all share the same dreams for our club and even if you disagree, you should respect opinions of fellow supporters.

Forum Rules

The following are UNACCEPTABLE both in posts and via Personal Message and will usually result in a PERMANENT BAN

* RACISM
* TICKET TOUTING (ie. selling a ticket over face value + reasonable postage costs)
* SPAM / ADVERTISING (This forum isn't a free advertising service. Personal blogs, MySpace etc are okay - anything else needs to be discussed with one of the forum staff)
* THREATENING VIOLENCE or CONTINUOUS PERSONAL ABUSE of a fellow poster
* CREATING MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS to get around a ban.

The following GUIDELINES should be adhered to.

If you fail to stick to these then you may find posts edited, deleted or yourself on the end of a short ban. Continue to piss everyone off and the ban will be made permanent.

1) OTHER CLUBS FANS WELCOME - As long as you're not an idiot.  If you come to talk sense, decent football chat you're okay. If your on a wind up or here to piss reds off you'll get banned and you're posts will be deleted.  Avatars and signatures depicting other clubs or players are not allowed.

2) SWEARING IS ALLOWED (BUT NOT IN TOPIC TITLES) - when you first sign up a word-censor is in place.  If you are an adult and can take a bit of swearing - you can switch this off as one of your member profile options.  This is a football forum and there may be some words heard at football grounds.  However, use it in moderation.

3) DO NOT POST IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS - Posting in all caps is rude and the offending post will be deleted.  Simple.

4) AVOID TEXT SPEAK & USE PROPER ENGLISH - Put a bit of effort in to your posts.  If you're first language is English then you should know sentences start with a capital letter and end with full stops, and that paragraphs are usually used. Depending on our mood you will either get a warning or a straight ban (after you're posts have been deleted). There is also a spell check when you post messages plus many internet browsers have this built in.

5) SOURCE NEWS STORIES - If you're posting a news article then you should post the full story and the link to the story.

6) DON'T POST ANYTHING FROM THE S*N NEWSPAPER - It's all bullshit, they have no direct connection to the club and are widely despised by all decent Liverpool supporters. A reminder of why is here

7) DON'T ARSE AROUND OR BE A WIND UP MERCHANT (WUM) - Morons are not allowed to spoil the enjoyment of people on this forum. Remember - this is a forum for you and your fellow Liverpool fans.  We're all on the same side here.  Users who continually go off topic, or appear to be on a mission to wind up fellow users will not last long.

Changing your profile / Using the Forum

As a registered member of the forum you can customise your profile. http://www.lfcreds.com/reds/index.php?action=profile

Users who have donated to the cost of the forum are classed as Premium members and have a number of extra options available to them.

You can add in your location, your birthday, your Skype number, your instant messenging addresses and more - these are only visible to other forum members.

Avatars & Signatures

To ensure the forum runs smoothly, loads quickly, and is accessible by as many people as possible (not everyone has broadband remember) please adhere to the following:

Avatars - no bigger than 100 pixels (width) x 150 (height) in size and smaller than 20kb in size.  The forum will automatically convert an image to the required size when you upload it.
* Avatars are only visible next to your post if you have signed up as an Anfield Hero and donated to the running cost of the forum.  This costs 83 pence per month. More info here http://www.lfcreds.com/reds/index.php?topic=23790.0

Signature bars - Graphic images in signature bars should be no bigger than 400 x 90 and should have a maximum size of 25kb. This is easily achievable. Text in signatures should be inoffensive and not contain any swear words. Signatures should not include advertising or links without discussion with the Admin of the board. Links to personal websites or your own blogs etc that do not contain advertising is allowed.  Keep it tidy.  Signatures should be brief and if they contain text should be limited to one or two lines.

If you don't want to see other users signatures you can deselect this option in your profile page.

(Information on adding your signature is here: http://www.lfcreds.com/reds/index.php/topic,9093.0.html)

Users who have never posted on the board will not be able to send personal messages.  All users can receive personal messages from other users.

Reporting posts and personal messages to the moderators

If you believe any post on the forum, or personal message sent to you, to be offensive, to be spam, ticket touting etc or in breach of the forum rules, you can report it to the forum moderators.  A link exists underneath every post on the forum.  Or you can send a message to one of the forum staff. A list is here

If minor rules are broken - moderators will edit your comment and leave a 'Reason for Edit' at the end of your post.

Finally

We are a completely independent and unofficial Liverpool FC website based in Liverpool.

We are not a campaigning group and have no direct affiliation with any of the LFC related pressure or action groups, even though individuals have their own opinions on particular topics. This forum exists solely for the purpose of enabling interaction amongst Liverpool FC supporters.

This forum is provided free of charge and unlike many other forums contains no advertising.  If you would like to help in the costs in running this forum then you can upgrade your account by taking out a subscription (see the Forum/Site News board).

The mods and admins of the website support:

1) The Hillsborough Justice Campaign
2) Don't buy The S*n (do not publish links to the site or quote articles directly from it)

Just a quick reminder that this Liverpool FC forum is moderated by volunteers giving up their own time and effort to help assist genuine Liverpool fans in using this forum and creating a lively and healthy debating arena for people of a shared interest - in our case the Mighty Reds.

If a moderator or admin contacts you regarding a matter such as breaking one of the forum rules then we expect a polite response.

This forum is provided to you Free of charge. If you consistently fail to abide by the forum rules, or abuse a moderator or admin when they are trying to point you in the right direction then either your forum account will be either placed under a temporary restriction or you will be banned.

Something similar to the mantra of our club - 'no user is bigger than the board' .

Peace out.

9. No txt language.  U r nt pstn on a moby fone r u? Nonsensical posts like this will be deleted.  Repeat offenders will be banned.

Users who continue to post nonsensical ramblings in threads here is a simple message for you.

Do Not Bother. It will be deleted.  Do it repeatedly and your account will be banned.

- There is a spell check available when you reply to a post.
- Typing 17 consecutive commas does not equate to pressing the Enter key on your keyboard
- POSTING IN ALL CAPITALS is ignorant

Take a bit of pride in your posts, or head on back to LFC.TV's forums.

It seems that some people have failed to heed the warning in the post above.

As the season has begun no doubt discussions on the reds will intensify as we progress to our deserved number 19 <ahem>.

Users who continue to post nonsensical illegible posts, or those who appear to delight in having -35 ratings will no longer be tolerated on the forum. Their desire to dominate threads with their ramblings will be nipped in the bud to prevent them spoiling the enjoyment of the intelligent and knowledgable majority.

If you receive a PM from a moderator simply ignoring it and not taking the friendly advice offered will have consequences.

Still some people having problems with some of the rules of the forum.

You may want to reconsider the agreement you made when you registered on the forum.  When you ticked the 'I agree to abide by the forum rules.'

Offensive personal messages can be reported to mods and admin, continually going off topic even after being warned and trying to pick a verbal fight with other users for nothing other than your own sadistic pleasure will result in your free account on here being either suspended or terminated.

This isn't a charity.  People don't put a lot of effort, time and expense in to have their enjoyment of the site ruined by a couple of big time Charlie's who think they have the right to be heard over everybody else.

The rules are there for a reason.  Choosing to ignore them is not an option.

Oh it's been a while since I had to post an update in this thread, but here goes anyway.

Over the last week or so an increase in the number of lazy/poor posts has been noticed.

It really doesn't take much to:

1. Start sentences with Capital letters.
2. Press return at the end of a paragraph.
3. Use the spell check or better still install an automatic spell check if you're using a decent browser such as Firefox.
4. Use the search function to see if your new topic may fit better in to one of the 6,000 topics already posted on the board.
5. Not use excessive smiley's in your post.
6. Not insult other forum users.

I have had to edit and merge way too many posts and threads over the last week or so.  In future it will be far easier for us to just delete poor posts from the board.

If you are the type who posts like a 10 year old there are a couple of forums we know you will fit right in on - this isn't one of them.

The first thread in this post has been tidied up and amended slightly.

There are a handful of people on here who need to get acquainted with the spell check function and take a little bit more pride in their posts.  Things have improved hugely overall in recent months, but all forum users, even the old hands, should take a brief moment to re-familiarise themselves with the rules from time to time.

Often, forum staff don't have time to moderate the forum AND contact users via PM as well.  If you find that one of your posts has been moderated then please pay attention to the comment left under the post by one of the staff.

In the relatively rare case where the staff have had to delete a post then consult the rules which will 99% of the time explain why it was deleted.

Thanks.
