April '88 v. the scumbags

Match ended 3-3, magic, swaying about in the Kop

Hooked for life, we were 3-1 up at halftime, Bryan bloody Robson scored two deflected goals at the Anfield Road end

Typical Jammy B%$^&*"s!!

Mine was horrible. We lost 3-2 at home to Southampton. I honestly can't remember who scored, but I think Owen got the second.

The other times I have watched us though, the results were better.  Cheesy

A friendly against Parma in August 2000. We won 5-0, but I can't remember who scored. Went to games when I was younger, but that's the first I remember (what a season that was aswell!)  Cool

You know what, I cant even remember the score, I was too young.

It was Villa Park, that game Big Ronny Rosenthal put it over the crossbar from 6 yards out!

I think my first home match was LFC 2-1 Malmo - Oct 67.  Yeats and Hunt scored.  Then they bounced 1860 Munich in the next round and lost out to Ferencváros in the 3rd Round, thanks to the elegant Flórián Albert, who was European Footballer of the Year. (A terrific player.)

It was about the same time as I saw LFC beat the Manks 2-1 at Old Trafford - my first away match. Tommy Lawrence made a terrific save from Charlton, which was a key moment.

I've hardly missed a home European match since then, and managed to get to three European finals…  No more penalty shoot outs, thanks - the old ticker can't take it.

Those were the days.  I remember
    Tony Hateley's hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of Newcastle U;
    The own goal by Gary Sprake - silence from the Kop then delight as Sprake held his head;
    Tommy Smith heroically making a goal-line clearance, spread-eagling his legs either side of the Kop goalpost (Oooo… the pain) only for Sheff Wed to score from the corner (I think that was on my 16th birthday!)
    The incredible hard work they made of the 1968 FA Cup with every round going to a replay and then finally losing to WBA at Maine Road in a 6th Round 2nd replay.

In more recent(?) times, Molby always impressed me as one of the greatest midfield passers of all time though he wasn't renown for the second part of "pass and move", and of course the most bemedalled of them all, Phil Neal.  To think he had sell his medals as he was broke.

These new South American youngsters have a lot to live up to - I just wish they were local/UK boys.  Sad

Ive been a Liverpool fan for about 20years but only in recent years have I been able to really go watch the games at anfield due to living abroad in cyprus most of my life. But I went to the Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen on the 22/feb/2005 the score was 3-1, garcia, riise and hamman were the scorers if my memory serves me right! pure MAGIC! Grin

The first (and only) Liverpool game that I have been to was the Liverpool v Arsenal in August of '94.
Robbie Fowler scored a hattrick in 4 minutes 32 seconds.
Greatest game I have ever been to.
I will never forget the feeling.
I have been a Red fan since I was 6 years old and to hear the Anfield crowd sing "You'll Never Walk Alone"' still brings chills to my skin and a tear in my eye.
My wife is also a Liverpool fan (not too many hear in Alabama , USA) and one of the things she loves about the club is the fans.
I now have a son born on  the one year annivesary of Liverpool winning the Champions League and promise you fellow Kopites that I will raise him to the best of my ability and to be a die hard Red fan.

I spent some time in neighbouring Texas, and it was all but impossible to keep up with football (proper football, not that Storm Trooper variety).

If it hadn't have been for the BBC and other footy websites, I might as well have been in another universe.

Hang in there, kiddo!  YNWA!
