Liverpool FC closing in on £7m deal for Igor Denisov

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Igor Denisov.

Liverpool on Friday completed the signing of striker Fabio Borini from Roma and are believed to be keen on adding two or three more new faces to their squad before the start of the season.

Borini became Brendan Rodgers' first signing as Liverpool manager, and according to Metro, the former Swansea boss is keen on making Denisov his second.

Citing reports in Russia, a £7million deal for the 28-year-old could be agreed as soon as next week.

The Russia international primarily plays as a defensive midfielder but can play in a more advanced role if required.

He is a good defensive midfielder to provide competition and cover for Lucas. What is the source?

Source is Peace FM Online so not sure if this has any legs. Would be a decent signing for £7m definitely provide better cover for Lucas than Spearing will.

He plays that deep central midfield role in Dirk Advocaat's 4-3-3 system, has started and played 90 mins in all 3 games at the Euros

Considering we were linked to Seydou Keita a couple of months back, as Lucas' back-up, I would say this should be a fairly decent signing in terms of age and salary!

But 7 million is the niggling factor, for a back-up player who would find it impossible to dispense Lucas from our line up!!
