Dropping Sterling was a great psychological ploy by the Gaffer (yes, I do know it was mental not physical), and you could see his hunger and drive were back.

Chuffed for Downing too, though it might be too little too late

Took our foot off the gas, but we could afford to do so.

4 games in 12 days now, and that could be very interesting points wise

Just what we needed that, 4 - 0 is hardly fair in the end. 5 points off the CL spots at the half way stage means we're still in there shouting, get January right and there's no reason why we can't force ourselves in there.

Man of the Match for me was Gerrard, outstanding in the first half and would like to see him kick on from that. (Downing with an assist, a goal and another whistle past the post pushed him closely to be fair, best game for him by a mile.)

The early goal really made all the difference, I think if we had scored early against Aston Villa it could have gone the same way, not the disaster it ended up being.

Don't think anyone had a bad game, some were better than others but overall the whole team was good

I have to say that I saw glimpses today of what we are about to come. With a couple of lethal finishers we could be truly unplayable.

This was a joy to watch. The control , domination , chasing back it was good.
For me the best the best I have seen us play.

We can build on this and I now do not see any reason why we cant into the top four.

Gerrard was phenomenal playing the deeper role today. Passing, vision, made a late run into the box to score. MOTM for me, though Downing deserves all the praise for his game today.

i would say that we made them poor. that early goal didnt let them build their confidence. thats how i see it anyway.
