Reds win down under: LFC 2-0 Melbourne Victory (Australia)
      Jan 28, 2013 04:45:46 am
English Premier League giants Liverpool could be following Manchester United to Australia in July.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) have been in talks with Liverpool officials for several weeks about bringing the Reds to Australia, The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday.

Liverpool representatives are in Australia this weekend and attended Saturday night's Sydney FC-Melbourne Victory game at AAMI park.

An A-League all-stars team will meet Manchester United at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, July 20 with the with the Liverpool game, should it happen, to be played the following week, the report said.

Tickets for the Red Devils game sold out within two days and FFA officials are expecting the same response from Australian football fans to see Liverpool, a club boasting the likes of Steven Gerrard and Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez.

Liverpool also have a strong Australian connection through Newcastle's Craig Johnston and more recently Socceroo Harry Kewell and current back-up goalkeeper Brad Jones.

Commercial free-to-air television networks are said to have all expressed interest in broadcasting the game.

Reports have said that the deal is subject to how many regular first-team players Liverpool are willing to play over here.

If it goes through, I'm not sleeping. Will be too excited.

Happy me too. I should be back in Australia around then, though making it to the game would be no easy thing considering it's a fair ways away. But if my brother isn't in Uni or anything at the time... maybe roadie time.

Be great to see my beloved reds in my country though! Hope it comes through.

      Apparently both towns are bidding.

ANZ stadium and the MCG respectively.

I will be chuffed with either!

They coming to Melbourne or Sydney mate?

Well that's controversial...because Sydney is getting the A-League All-Stars v. Man United game...the city of Sydney constructed that deal. The team who would play LFC if it were to come to Melbourne (the Melbourne Victory) are setting up their whole side of the deal, not the city of Melbourne.

Both cities are going at it trying to prove they deserve to get the game in their city. Melbourne is the most probable outcome (FANTASTIC! UP YOURS SYDNEY YOU BUNCH OF SNOBS)

Just hope one Mr L. Suarez makes the trip.

Not a problem I think. As I said before, the deal is subject to how many first team players would make the trip and play.

Wherever it is ill be there.

Spewing I missed a ticket for the ManU game. A ticket near their bench would of been fun >:D

Hope it's Sydney because of our fan base but if its Melbourne ill have an excuse to have a trip over.

      Not the only one Billy.

If that is the case then lets turn up.

The "Being Liverpool" version of turning up was not the first team in entirety.
      Hardly.
Accepted it was Euro 2012 and players were late back or whatever ... but respect the fans.

Great for you OZ REDS  !
