I did think for a second that the team sheet read that Hendo was captain. I had to rub my eyes before I realised.

BR really doesn't rate Skrtel at all.

Team as expected, don't see the point in having a left back on the bench though when Johnson can play there. Should have been Ibe.

we just rejected a 10m bid. It would have been accepted had Coates not became injured. Looks like he'll be staying for another season atleast.

I think both have the potential to be top quality players!!  I hope we rotate the two in and out of the team all season.  Rotating the two will keep them from overuse at a young age and will also keep them hungry and motivated as they will be in direct competition with one another!! 

BR really doesn't rate Skrtel at all.

Which is why I could still see him being sold if the right offer comes in.  BR really seems very reluctant to use him, and seems to place more faith in Wisdom.  If we could sell Skrtel and bring in a top CB who can compete with Agger/Toure for a first team berth that would be ideal.  Hopefully someone who is comfortable with both feet so that they can rotate at LCB or RCB as necessary.  I think this may be why we were originally quite interested in Papa as he is supposed to be a two footed CB.

Happy with the team put out.  Think we will win this one fairly easily.  I'd like to see goals from Sturridge and Aspas.  It would also be nice to see Borini and Alberto get some minutes.

Na I doubt it mate. With Seb injured and BR wanting to send Wisdom on loan I think there is nothing more to it other than, if we are comfortable he will put Wisdom on and into the shop window for a decent loaner!

Good line-up, wondered if Cissokho might the the starting place ahead of Enrique, clearly not and Allen starts again from the bench.

As for Ibe getting dropped from the match day squad, think that was only a choice between him and Sterling as Cissokho can also play LW at a push.

Ibe over Sterling, well that's a choice for later, for now and only for a bench call giving Sterling the nod keeps them all happy I suppose.

Big game, would love the 3 points and we should have the fitness advantage, come on lads put the turbulence of the week behind ya and another performance like last weekend should be enough.

Decent squad from villa and a few players in fine form too. 1st test of the season to prove we are moving forward.

Full backs, Lucas, Stevie & Hendo are big parts in this game. Villa are definitely gonna soak us up like they did at Arsenal and hit on the counter. We have to be wary of it.

Well it would be brutal to drop Henderson I feel. He's on the cusp of some great performances at the moment.
