Liverpool 3:1 Crystal Palace: In game and post match glee.

Brendan Rodgers has made one change to his Liverpool team to face Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday, with Raheem Sterling replacing the suspended Lucas Leiva for the Reds.


With Lucas picking up a fifth booking of the season at Sunderland last weekend, the manager has chosen Sterling to complement a team which could claim top spot in the Barclays Premier League today.

After making his Premier League return with a brace against the Black Cats, Luis Suarez is also included in attack alongside Daniel Sturridge.

Interesting. I think Sterling might be that player who's in that right back position. Wil be a big challenge for him.

I guess the expectation is that we will have a lot of the ball so Sterling's defending skills on the right side won't have to be called on though I guess a simple adjustment could make the old formation into a simple 4-4-2 (Sterling Moses on flanks, Toure at RB)

Looks a good team to me. Stirling will be part of a midfield 5, as will Enrique, with Moses in and around the number 10 slot. I've a hunch Palace will have a bit of a go today, so the back three will have to be up for it. Fortunately we've gone with our three best defenders which is a step in the right direction.

I don't think so. Think Holloway will do what he mostly does, press high up the pitch (that's what's worked against us this year) and really try to stop us from playing. An early goal will be key.

Agger did not recover his place but I think it is justified.

I'd happily take a 1-0 win but I fancy us to score a few today.

Can't wait for this game. Think it will be 2 or 3-0 to be honest. I can't remember Holloway's teams ever sitting back and hoping for a point though to be fair so I don't think they will be completely defensive.

Let's give them the battering that Holloway wants and send them on their way with a loudly sung You'll Never Walk Alone.

Just take of business and come away with the 3 points.

Another chance to test the mental strength of the team.  We're better than Palace but will the chance of going back top weigh heavy on our players?

What's the word on Kelly surprised he's not made the bench.

Be interesting to see how Sterling or possibly Moses plays down the right, can't see anything other than Hendo moving alongside Stevie and one of the aforementioned slotting into the RWB/RM role.

I see nothing other than a good win today, don't think it'll be a 9-0 like in Aldo's last game, but I can see a 4 or 5 nil scoreline come FT.

That's fair enough then. Hope they both score.

At least Alberto makes the bench this time. I think apart from Alberto for possibly Moses the Boss has got the team spot on. We're at home against Palace, this is the type of game you do play Sterling at wing-back, expecting us to get an overload on their right hand side many times and spaces opening up on the opposite flank for us to exploit.

With so much emphasis on our attack it's possible we could overwhelm them and the loss of Lucas wont be so obvious in this game as I think we'll be on the front foot from the off.

Should we get pushed back I think we've got enough to handle them and also hit them on the break though with a lot of pace in this side, not hard to see why many of us think this could be a bit of a drubbing.
