Spurs 0-5 Liverpool: In game and Post Match Delight
      Dec 15, 2013 03:00:13 pm
XI: Mignolet, Flanagan, Sakho, Skrtel, Johnson, Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez   :D

Subs: Jones, Kelly, Agger, Toure, Moses, Aspas, Alberto.

Luis Suarez will captain LFC against Tottenham today. The manager makes just the one alteration to the starting line-up which saw off West Ham United 4-1 eight days ago, with midfielder Lucas selected in the absence of the injured Steven Gerrard.

With vice-captain Daniel Agger selected among the substitutes, Rodgers has chosen the Reds' prolific No.7 as skipper against Spurs.

As I expected and probably our strongest 11 at the moment.

The midfield three with have to be on their game today to get three points here.

Really hope we line up like:

                            Mig
      Johnson    Skrtel     Sakho    Flanagan
                      Allen   Lucas
                         Coutinho
           Sterling                   Henderson
                          Suarez

Play on the counter as I said and I think we can have too much pace for them on the break away, obviously important we don't concede first for that tactic though!

Come on Redmen, time to stand up and be counted!

I'm that excited for this match I think I've just let out a little sex wee, we really need to turn these cu*ts over, hope Suarez, Coutinho and Sterling have an absolute stormer and the midfield dominates Spuds.

Hendo did a lot of good work from that position at times last season Luke so I'd agree for this game it is the way to go.

Bit of help for Flanno there as well defensively.

      Yep. Can't wait.

      Luis shouldn't be captain though.

I'm not a pissed off as some seem to be about it but its still the wrong decision.

Lucas should have got the armband.

All our midfielders will need to pull out their best performances of the season if we're going to get anywhere near that Spurs midfield. Got a bad feeling we'll be overpowered there - especially if Coutinho is in the middle rather than Hendo.

Not looking forward to this one bit, just hope we dig deep and get the result.

Lloris; Walker, Capoue, Dawson, Naughton; Paulinho, Sandro; Lennon, Dembele, Chadli; Soldado

That team is beatable, no questions..! Looking forward to this one, should be a great game - also Suarez as Captian is interesting. Sometimes if a game gets a bit messy the ref will ask the captains to calm it down, not sure if that will work with Luis some how!

In Lukes formation Hendo tends to tuck in like he did from the left last season so should give us more in midfield.

Luis need to lead the line and inspire the team as captain. It will be a big task against a team with a physically powerful midfield but in Luis we have something they don't, a word class game changer.

Must admit I'm not confused, more intrigued about that decision. Seems there can be a few motivations behind it, either Brendan is telling us that Luis has changed his mentality and is now committed to the club (which I hope rather than believe). The second possibility is that's a show of commitment from us, which I absolutely hope it's not that! The final one is that there is nobody else suitable in a more senior position, that one is hard to believe also.

I most certainly can understand some being pissed off about it though, if it's anything but the first one it's a bit like pandering to a spoiled child, shouldn't be done.

I wrote a really detailed post regarding the game and how important it is. Unfortunately it was in the pre-match thread and when I clicked on post, the thread was locked.

So, in short, we need a win, can understand why Luis is captain but maybe could have been someone else.

Not the biggest over all,but the right result for us today IS monumental. This I think is one of those games that (hopefully)sends out the right messages to the others. Can't fault BR's team selection. On the counter we are great. So, come on Redmen get the job done.

I understand why you have put Henderson out wide , but I think Brendan will swap Coutinho and Henderson round mate.

Agree, playing on the break is probably our best chance. I wouldn't mind us missing out midfield a little more today, get the ball up to Coutinho and Suarez quickly and then support them with runners from midfield.

      Team selected is as expected.

And if I was picking a captain, would pick Luis. Best player in the PL, on fire, leads from the front, the guy is the inspiration in the side anyway. As long as he keeps his temper/'hot flashes' in check :)

      Really important match.

      BUZZING NOW. CMON YOU REDMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
