Liverpool 5 - 1 Arsenal: In Game and Post Game Celebration!
      Feb 08, 2014 11:43:42 am

Starting XI: Mignolet, Flanagan, Cissokho, Toure, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge

Subs: Jones, Kelly, Ibe, Moses, Aspas, Allen, Alberto

Brendan Rodgers has selected an unchanged line-up for Liverpool's Barclays Premier League clash against top of the table Arsenal at Anfield.

The manager will field the same starting XI in the day's early kick off as the one which drew 1-1 against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

That means Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez lead the line in L4 as Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard face the Gunners' midfield.

Meanwhile, there are no changes on the substitutes' bench for the Reds.

If we get over run in midfield Rodgers will carry the can for that selection.

Or if we win, he is a genius. Either way, he will be always responsible for the team.

Still no Sakho and only one defender on the bench. Let's hope we don't get any injuries in defence...

      Why?

We killed Everton with that line up. Whatever happens, fans will react according to the result. If we win, he's a genius and if we lose he's a dickhead. Part and parcel of modern fans.

Full defense out, we'd have these. Cissokho and especially Toure, I have my doubts. Flanno in for a tough day too.

Having said that, for me this is our biggest chance of beating a team above us that we will have this season. City and Chelsea look rock solid. Arsenal are not playing well but picking up results. We can cause them problems.

We were overrun in the Emirates from the first second. This lineup is much more of a gamble today than it was against Everton.

Cissokho needs to have his best game for us today or we'll get torn apart on the right aganst Ox and Sagna.

Because the best managers who win things, like Mourinho, respect the quality of the opposition and form their team accordingly. Arsenal are a different league to Everton, and considering how we were over run in midfield last time we played them, it would be logical to have the extra midfielder in Allen.

We have also been rubbish against Villa and West Brom with this 11, so the signs are there it hasn't actually worked that great for us.

Arsenal line-up: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Wilshere, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Ozil, Giroud.

~I think we were not aggressive enough at arsenal hopefully the lads will be ready to rip into them from the first to the last whistle.A win today puts us 5 points behind Arsenal what more incentive do these lads need

Ballsy confident selection from the boss there and I hope we see the team perform as it did against the bitters.

Personally I'd have liked that extra body in midfield but I also like how Brendan slects what he thinks is his best side to attack another team and he's done that again today.

Yeah, like Kevin Keegan in his heyday. Great entertainment.

And what did he ever win?

I think it does Brendan a big disservice to lump him in witht the likes of Keegan.

He's a much more tactically aware coach.

Can we beat a team above us in the table?

All the three to date have been away games.

      Now we are at home.

What a thought provoking post, who would have imagined that the manager will be responsible for the lineup, eh?!
