Must admit, I do find it bizarre how we've not tried to replace some of Suarez' quality since we were snubbed by Sanchez. We clearly tried to limit the loss but have now seemingly given up altogether. Big mistake.

We've signed many squad players this summer. I actually see little improvement in that first XI, if any. We just have more options without that bite.

It is a ridiculous situation is it not?
A player of that ability and class and well priced and we don't seem to be interested .
Listen here Mr Henry get your chequebook out sign whatever the get out clause is and Mr ayre to deliver it.

As if John Henry knows what the team needs :D

Direct your pleas to Brendan and the committee. Henry just signs the cheques.

It's clear that he wants to leave Dortmund because his agent isn't going to be touting him around like that if he wanted to stay. It's also clear to just about everyone - fans, press and pundits alike, that Reus is the perfect signing for Liverpool. He's reasonably priced, experienced, talented and tactically flexible in a number of roles. In fact, the only person it seems that doesn't think he's the perfect signing for Liverpool is Rodgers.

      And you know that how..?
No club has put a bid for him yet, so by your statement, he is not perfect for any club, quite contrary to what his agent has been raving about. So who is wrong here?  >:D

Why has two journalists close to the club dismissed reports that we are interested in him then?

Clearly BR doesn't have him in his plans.

I think we all know this is not going to happen. To be fair, the squad was tiny last season and we needed ~8players in. 1 player costing 40+m would probably mean we get 1 less or 2 less in this window. The likes of Lambert and Remy were ideal for this because they were cheap and good squad players. 8 players in for around 120mill instead of 4/5 for the same.

The problem being, albeit the "group" will be sooo much stronger, the starting 11 will not be without the likes of a Reus, Falcao, Lavezzi, & Tevez type signing to replace Luis.

Isn't the purpose to increase the strength of the first XI and the squad? Sure, we've improved the squad strength but when it comes down to it, you can only play 11 players at a time. Markovic, Lallana and Can cannot all step in for Luis at the same time. We cannot be fielding 13 players here.

We need someone like Reus. I find a frontline of Sterling-Sturridge-Lallana quite insulting to be honest. Effectively Lallana will be Luis' replacement. If not him, then the inexperienced Markovic who probably has another 4-5 years until he hits such heights.

Ye I agree completely. I just cant see us shelling out 40+m at all on 1 player to replace Luis. We do need a solid replacement of somewhere near Luis's Ilk. Studge, injury free, may get isolated up front on his tod.

If we get £75m for one player then what is wrong with spending £40m on another? We were willing to do it with Alexis Samchez who, let's be honest, has nothing on Reus.

Who knows we may be trying to sign big names and they dont want to come.

      So many variables that transfers can fall down on before we even hear about them;
Wages, signing on fees, agent fees, location location and that's just the if the player himself wants to come....

We have to face up to the fact that not every player wants to come here, and you're right, it really is that simple.

We got Suarez, Torres, Coutinho and Sturridge all in the last few years... we just need to find another. Doesnt have to be Reus. Just has to be brilliant! HA

      Absolutely mate.
Some players will want to come, others won't. It's always been that way.
It's up to BR and his staff to find the next one in a long line of excellent players, and their name doesn't have to be Reus, or have 40 million plus spent on them.

      Wouldnt mind him though.
Needs an instant impact that all those names have had. These scouts get paid a lot of money and have all year to find the perfect match. Now is the time to show us who they picked.

But surely if we were a big club we'd at least be capable of attracting someone with a big profile, no?

      I wouldn't say no ;)
That said, you're spot on about the scouts earning their pay, but who knows what's happening behind closed doors.
The club have become pretty good at not giving much away, so fingers crossed there's deals in the pipeline we haven't heard about.

Definitely. The signing of Lambert and attempted Remy suggests there wont be a worldbeater coming into partner Studge.

Even Barca dont get everyone they go for mate. Or City who have all the money. Sometimes the fit just aint right for the player, selling club, or agent (greedy fuckers).
