Pre Season Friendly: Liverpool 1-2 AS Roma
      Aug 01, 2016 02:26:43 pm

I've been to this venue for a baseball game twice, should be a good atmosphere.

Our last few games head to head:

Liverpool       0-1       AS Roma    Jul 23, 2014    Friendly
Liverpool       2-0       AS Roma    Mar 19, 2002    UEFA Champions League
AS Roma       0-0       Liverpool    Dec 5, 2001    UEFA Champions League

What's everyone think on the lineup?

This one will be on ESPN2 so I'll be watching, should  be  some good streams available.

I was so far off on the last match I dare not guess a lineup this time. Since I'll be in the stadium, I'd love a starting 11 like we had for Milan, but I'm guessing he will rotate heavily as it was just 48 hours ago. The first XI should be who we see Saturday vs. Barca.

Sorry to learn Ejaria is injured. I hope Ings is available for tonight. Klopp said he would give Manninger and Shamal George match time so perhaps that is tonight. I am also wondering if Matip and Grujic might be fit to play by now. That would be nice.

      Ha! Very true
It's always between 4a and if we are lucky 930am at weekends and at 1130 or 12p during the week for us on the west coast of America.
You can see how it really a screws up our entire day if we get a crappy result!

       http://www.football-italia.net/88618/gerrard-totti-king-rome

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard pays homage to Francesco Totti: 'He's the king of Rome, I'd have loved to play with him'.

The 36-year-old is currently under contract with LA Galaxy, but he spent the vast majority of his career with the Reds. Ahead of tonight's North American friendly between the two European teams, Roma have broadcast an interview from December 2015 in which Gerrard discuss the Ex Pupone.

“Totti is a fantastic technician and a wonderful footballer,” he said. “I respect him a lot because he takes all the pressure on his shoulders with Roma. He's the king of Rome.

“Having played for Liverpool I understand the responsibility and the pressure that come with this role. I've been there and I've seen it with my own eyes.

“To perform consistently for such a long time and stay loyal to Roma like that, really, I've got an awful lot of respect for him. He's certainly a legend over in Italy."

Gerrard then went on to discuss the Giallorossi captain from a more technical point of view.

“I think when you get close to him you realise how strong he is on the ball. He picks up some wonderful positions between the lines.

“I remember playing against him once and the ball was like on a velcro to his boots. He was very skilfull and manoeuvred the ball very well.

“He had vision and could see things on the pitch that others could not see. I met him a couple of times and he seems like a good guy too.

“He's shown incredible loyalty and he deserves all of the respect and the plaudits he gets. I can only add to that.

“It's been a pleasure to compete against him a couple of times. I'd have loved to play on the same team as him, we'd have been on the same wavelength.

“When we signed Alberto Aquilani, he spoke volumes of Totti and [Daniele] De Rossi.”

Stevie might like him but my respect for him is on the same level as George Osborne or Michael Gove .

The match thread time being in EST for once is a beautiful thing for me.  :D

Looking forward to this one. The players have to be exhausted though between the recent practices/games and the travel.

That's right. Or it's just some of your short-term memory leaving your body in Grujic's case against Chelsea.

13 days until the start of the Premier League season.  Hoping to see more fluidity in the team now.  We managed one shot on target in the first half against Milan so I'm expecting a bit more than that tonight.

I think Roma will be a much harder test than Milan. Hopefully some of our injured players will return tonight and we will manage to put out a reasonably strong team. Expecting a close game with a 2-1 win

Is Ings injured or are they just playing safe with his prep after his bad injury?

He got banged up pretty good against Chelsea...think they are just playing it safe.

Nah, you Brits just do it wrong...  ;)

Waiting for the missus to get ready, then hoofing it to a pub for a pregame party.  Then off to the stadium for the only live taste of LFC I ever get.... it may only be preseason, but this is f**king magical!!!   :)

I am ok with indifferent form and results pre season it means the players will have to work hard to find that form and win games.
