We Will Never Forget the 96 YNWA

« on: January 06, 2008, 03:27:12 PM »

Here's the team for today's game ;

Itandje, Finnan, Riise, Carragher, Hypia, Lucas, Alonso, Benayoun, Babel, Crouch, Kuyt.

Subs; Martin, Hobbs, Mascherano, El Zhar, Voronin.

Well that team should easily be able to beat Luton, so come on you mighty Reds.      Although I don't want to jinx it :Smiley  2-0 to the boys.

Looks like a strong enough lineup to me, TBH we should be able to beat these even if we put out our reserves though.

Looking forward to this one and hope we can secure a trip into the next round.
Nice to see Intandje get a start along with Lucas, Xabi and Crouchy up front.
Nothing but a win will do, a clean sheet would be a great result too.
Let the fun and games commence!  Wink

Yeah, quite a strong line up. Good to see big Sami back as well. I hope both strikers bag a good few goals here today. Looking forward to seeing how Alonso and Lucas do together.

Babel has shot saved by Luton keeper on left post inside 1st minute!

Luton are denied soon after when the Liverpool defence is pushing forward on the edge of their own box and the offside trap is beaten. Intandje does well and saves with his feet before the rebound is skyed over the bar!

Crouch's volley is well over with but great skill.

Babel is looking likely, great speed on the counter attack.

This is the FA Cup, winner takes all, fast, aggressive game. Liverpool corner... comes to nothing.

Close call for Liverpool as Finnan is beaten by great skill by Luton's number 19, Talbot. He takes the ball along the by line and Intandje saves with his feet again.

Luton are applying the pressure and trying to make home advantage count.

2 throw ins and now a Luton corner on Liverpool's left, possession comes to nothing as a long pass goes out of play for a Liverpool goal kick. They are having too much of the ball for my liking and now they have a corner on Liverpool's right.. play breaks down with a throw to us.

Luton have come flying out of The blocks, this is a cup final to them. They won't be able to keep this pace up for the whole game, 2nd half I they'll tire & we'll take them apart.

Crouchy has a tame shot saved by Brill between the Luton sticks but then a lovely half volley powered into the right post! Goal kick.

Come on Reds, paid $15.00 for pay per view, because Fox soccer channel is showing the Arsenal game. Need goals, very grumpy from Wigan game.

Talbot (19) nicks the ball on the edge of the box then takes a wild shot which barely stays in the 18 yard box! lmao Still to much Luton possession. A game of ping pong in their box fizzles out, they come away with the ball.

1st half nearly up and I'm afraid to say they are dominating.

Xabi booked for a foul, Free kick Luton 25 yards out... Nothing doing.

Still 0-0 but they are dealing with us quite comfortably.

Could someone please tell me whats wrong with Dirk Kuyt. COME ON DIRK MATE get yer head up lad you need to work even harder cmon.
We are treating this too much like a training match and are not being ruthless enough. I also think we need to use more width with the full backs tracking the wingers Lutons left side is very vunrable Ryan has proved that a couple of times already.
I hope we can do this lot as their supporters are a bunch of wankers always booing Peter Crouch when hes on the ball f**king boo boys I HATE YOU. Hope PC scores now and really rubs their noses in it CMON YOU RED MEN.

From Liverpool FC.TV

The Reds' FA Cup fate remains in the balance after a goalless first-half against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
The League One outfit have more than held their own in an end-to-end first period that has seen Ryan Babel, Sami Hyypia and Dirk Kuyt all go close for Liverpool.

But Rafa and co haven't had it all their own way and Kevin Blackwell's men have so far made a mockery of the two division gap between the two sides.

In fact they could have gone in at the interval ahead had Hatters midfielder Dave Edwards made more of his opportunity when sent clear on goal on five minutes.

Fortunately for Liverpool Charles Itandje made a smart stop on that occasion and Rafael Benitez will be hoping for more from his side in the second half if they are to book their place in round four of the competition.

****************************************************

2nd half is under way. We really need to pull our socks up...
