His Armband Proved He Was A Red!

« on: January 31, 2008, 05:27:59 PM »

What is everyone's views on this... It sounds like a pipe-dream to me. I think it would be fascinating if it happens, a club ran by the fans is truly the ideal scenario, is it not? Especially, when those fans include businessmen who know exactly what they are doing when it comes to an international business such as Liverpool FC.

Here is the link to the website...

www.shareliverpoolfc.co. uk

Quote from ShareLiverpoolFC.co.uk:
Quote
Share Liverpool FC is a group of Liverpool fans, advised by some
of the foremost experts in supporter and co-operative ownership
in football. It includes:

Leading the initiative:

Rogan Taylor, Kop season ticket holder and LFC fan for over
forty years; founder member and Chair of the Football Supporters’ Association, launched in Liverpool after the Heysel Stadium Disaster in 1985. Rogan is currently the Director of the Football Industry Group at the University of Liverpool.

Advising the group:

Supporters Direct: The organisation that assists in the formation of supporters’ trusts, and assists them in gaining equity and democratic representation at their clubs.

Kevin Jaquiss, of the law firm, Cobbetts, the top UK firm for
co-operative and mutual law which has played a leading role
in the development of mutuals and co-operatives in housing, health and education. Kevin was part of the group which developed the Supporters Trust concept and wrote the model constitution which is now used by over 100 trusts in England, Wales and Scotland.

Liverpool Football Club needs our help.
We are 'Share Liverpool FC' and we have a real proposal for you:
Let's put Liverpool FC in the hands of the only 'owner' who
can be trusted. The fans. Become one of the 100,000 club owners
and we guarantee you'll never walk alone. What would Bill Shankly have wanted?
It certainly wouldn’t have been to see Liverpool Football Club in the pawnshop window for passing trade to buy if it took their fancy.

Count me in!What would Bob Paisley have wanted?
It certainly wouldn’t be a club owned
by people incapable of grasping its importance or its history.

It seems like you tried to start a new thread on this when there was one already going. Keep up Wellzy.  :Smiley

Was there a live press conference on that link MsG?

For anyone in the North West, put ITV on at 6pm. Supposed to be showing some details apparently.

Interesting read that JD.

I would be prepared to buy into a full £5,000 stake myself - but I'm just a greedy b'stard !

Will be keeping my ears peeled on further developments.

Americans play "football" with odd shaped balls, so how do they understand proper "football", we are all passionate about our club, about what happens, about the players....

Personally having only managed to get to the sacred home a handful of times, I would pay £5,000 to own a share of my life long passion (don't tell the wife) seriously, to bring this Great British institution away from the yanks would be a pleasure.

come on share LFC, lets bring this club home!!

Just what I was thinking. Surely they were expecting a vast amount of people visiting that website, all at once? We're not the bitters from across the park you know....

To be fair even the biggest websites in the world can crash if a modest number of people access it at exactly the same time.  Building up for the 5pm launch was just asking for trouble to be honest.

Northern Rock spend millions on their website but look what happened with them.

The major problem with this deal isn't whether they can raise enough money. It's more about convincing the Yanks to sell so soon after they negotiated the refinancing deal.Which is why I think this wont happen.

The Yanks didn't want to sell the club to DIC,what are the chances they are going to sell it to the supporters ? Unless a major profit is involved ...

They are looking for 100k members,so its safe to say that the site will get around 5 times that number of visitors and majority of them will try to access it on the first day.

What is surprising is that there hasn't been any news of this since.Surely it doesnt take 5 hours to fix the bandwidth problem.

It probably does if the company is completely incapable of providing a decent service.

Something like this was probably never going to run smoothly. If anything it shows millions of people really care. The notion is without a doubt a brilliant one. Thankfully it is only a technical hitch at this point. Sure it will be sorted soon.

As an international barometer... our Madrid branch members has shown a lot of interest in investing, people discussing joint/split shares, etc...

A lot of sentiment towards LFC having to become a FANS OWNED club.

http://www.liverpool-madrid.blogspot.com/

If it's representative of the feeling ww then we will get those 100k investors... no prob... surely we must ensure these people have fancards and are genuine fans... is that discussed? I don't know, because I couldn't get on the site...
