I saw this on another site so was wondering your thoughts on how our players have done this season.

Reina - 8, Class keeper, golden glove winner again and very few mistakes
Itandje - 5, Not involved much but concedes goals when he does play e.g. Havant & Waterloovile and Reading (CC)
Arbeloa - 7, More settled and solid this season
Finnan - 6, Injuries have plagued his season
Carragher - 8, Consistent as ever and played out of position for some games but did a good job, a negative is that he did give away a few penalties
Skrtel - 9, Cracking signing by Rafa and will fight with Agger for the CB place next season, unless Carra is at RB
Agger - 6, Not enough match action for Agger this season
Hyypia - 9, Called in to replace Agger and has been a revived sensation, a deserved new contract
Hobbs - 6, Played a few games but not really Prem standard yet
Riise - 6, Poor, no goals and defence had been questionable at times
Aurelio - 8, Much improved and more of an attacking threat
Insua - 6, Only seen in Man City game but one for the future
Pennant - 6, Not been picked enough but linked up with Crouchie in last few games, may leave in summer
Benayoun - 7, Good start to Anfield career, more expected from the yoss
Kuyt - 8, Found a new position, puts in a full shift but still needs more goals and some pace
Babel - 8, Inconsistent but the class has been shown and the potential of this kid is frightening
Leto - 7, Started some games early on and looked decent enough
Kewell - 5, Injuries again, not fulfilled his potential
Leiva - 7, Not quite adjusted to Prem League yet but it will come in time
Mascherano - 9, Stunning work ethic and integral part of our team, nice to see him score his first goal
Alonso - 7, Poor at times but regained some form late on, should not leave in summer
Plessis - 7, Promising youngster and more 1st team chances needed next season
Gerrard - 9, Excellent again, Torres has reformed his game and looking forward to seeing the deadly duo next season
El Zhar -  7, A talent, may need to go out on loan for some experience though
Voronin - 6, A burden most of the time, must be sold to Chavski for £30 million, he's worth every penny Roman
Crouch - 7, Good when involved but simply cannot get Rafa to pick him, most likely going in summer
Torres - 9, Fabulous player, settled in terrificly, his pace is frightening and finishing is lethal, given a class song by the Kop aswell

Any other players I have missed out on can be added

This seems quite a fair assessment of the players this year, though it is obviously very difficult to rate some of them due to lack of time on the pitch. I can say that you've been generous to Riise and Voronin IMO, as I wouldn't have given them more than 4-5. Riise has looked a menace to his own defence and has offered nothing in attack, and as for Voronin it's not because he came for free that he deserves a 6, he just hasn't fitted in. Aurelio has been good, though I'd have given a 7, I think honestly that when we compare him to his replacement Riise we get the impression he's better than he is, though he's made good progress.

I'd give Reina a 9, he couldn't do much more this year, the golden gloves award says it all, top stuff. Obviously I agree wholeheartedly for Hyppia's 9, if only all players could mature the way he has done! Lastly, I'd give Kuyt a 7, he's had his up and downs on and off the pitch, but I just couldn't give him an 8 for some of his games mid-season, even if I fully understand why his form lapsed.

Generally I agree but there are a few I would differ on;

Reina - 9 - Golden glove award, fantastic distribution and shot stopping.
Skrtel -7 - with only being in for the 2nd half of the season I dont think a 9 is fair just yet so I would put him at a solid 7
Aurelio 7 - Not enough input for an 8 in my opinion. A couple more goals and assists would be good...
Leto - 5 - I felt he was rather overwhelmed when called upon and in no way can be given the same rating as lucas
Plessis - 6 - Looks class in the reserves but the first team looks a big step at the moment - evident especially in the Birmingham away game
I hate to say it but even Kuyt and Babel should be 7's in my opinion. Kuyt just didnt get on the score sheet enough although he was awesome in the champions league. Babel always seemed to more effective when coming on as a sub to kill teams off with his pace. Has started to use his left more rather than relying on his right so much - would love to see him in a more central role, scoring the type of goals he did against Chelsea in the CL !

Insua also had a good solid game at the back against spurs so I personally would give him a 7 because he made the step up to the 1st team so well

Im a bit lost as Leto is being given the same rating as Babel, Lucas and Kuyt and yossi?

Kuyt made the best of a new position and did well in the CL especially. Babel scored goals although wasnt consistent enough, Yossi got hat tricks!!! and Lucas grew throughout the season. Leto was for me a let down - almost as much as Voronin...well no not that bad  Cheesy

Reina - 8 (third golden glove but never has much to do)
Riise - 4 (what a shocking season he's had)
Aurelio - 6 (only started playing well too late on)
Carragher - 8 (looks unfitter but always give his all)
Skrtel - 7 (did brilliant job since joining but only here half season)
Hyypia - 7 (has made a few mistakes but has been quite solid in some games)
Finnan - 6 (has been pretty average this season)
Arbeloa - 6 (he needs to sort his awareness out, been sloppy at times)
Mascherano - 9 (what a season he's had, he's everywhere and rarely disspoints)
Lucas - 6 (had some good games but most have been fairly average, expect him step up next season)
Alonso - 6 (his passing had not been great and takes too much time on the ball, average)
Gerrard - 8 (one of his better seasons, not his best but he's enjoyed a great link play with Torres)
Benayoun - 7 (when he's played he's looked pretty decent, should have played more)
Pennant - 6 (has been fairly average in the games he's played, only has crossing of the ball to offer)
Babel - 7 (have had some brilliant moments from Babel, has showed promise and will get better)
Kuyt - 6 (overrated and poor. scored 3 league goals this season, unecceptable)
Crouch - 6 (not done much when he's played, to me he's been pretty much average)
Voronin - 5 (looked decent in two games and the rest he looked pretty much average)
Torres - 10 (what a player and IMO the best player in the league this season. unstoppable!)

How anyone can rate Insua, Agger, Kewell or Leto is beyond my imagination. They've barely played enough games this season for the first team.

The fact that the original poster didn't go below a rating of 5 for anyone doesn't really give a true refection on the gap between our best & worst players, I don't see how the gap between Torres & Kuyt can be measured as the same as the difference between Crouch & Voronin.

Reina - 9 ,golden gloves again says it all
Itandje - 4 ,didnt play much and was poor when he did IMO

Arbeloa - 7 ,settled well this year, will have to step it up a level next year though
Finnan - 6
Carragher - 9  another brilliant season
Skrtel - 8  excellent plugged the hole at the back, major factor behind our strong end of season run
Hyypia - 8, what he lacks in pace he makes up for in his reading of the game. Thoroughly deserves his new deal
Riise - 4 chelsea semi final summed up his season
Aurelio - 6  still a touch in consistent, wasted far to many set pieces
Insua - 7

Pennant - 6  didnt play enough, but finished the season well
Benayoun - 6 incositent, he was mesmirising againist besiktas, but poor at times, if he can string some performances together could be a top class player
Kuyt - 7 what he lacked in goals he made up for in work
Babel - 7 has frightening potential and a great strike
Leto - 5  looked out of his league when he played
Kewell - 4
Leiva - 7 his performance againist inter gave me faith in his abilities, he will be better in the prem. next season
Mascherano - 9  probably the best holding midfielder in Europe now, surpassing Makelele, an unbelievable worker
Alonso - 6, injuries palgued him but showed his quality in distribution when he did play

Gerrard - 9 , 21 goals and a great relationship established with torres, Mr.Gerrard is Mr. consistent he is nearly always world class

Voronin - 3, he was f**king sh*te
Crouch - 7, unlucky shoud have played more games, showed towards the end of the season he can still score
Torres - 10, the prefect first season, according to the record books, not one tap in anywhere ( pay attention fat boy) nuff said

Okay if anyone is bothered to read all of these, here we are...

Reina - 9, Golden Gloves as mentioned, but not the perfect ten as he's still prone to errors with crossing
Finnan - 7, Mr Consistent got a little inconsistent this season, but as solid a right back as you get, if not inspiring
Arbeloa - 7, Has filled in all across the defence and has been solid everywhere. Good games, bad games, a decent season for Arby
Carra - 8, Pours his heart out but is a little slow at times and can be exposed
Skrtel - 8, Has settled in very nicely. Has enough pace, and more than enough strength to cut the Premiership. Will be a force next year.
Agger - N/A, unfair to rate him, he's hardly had a game
Hyypia - 9, Inspired in the middle at times. Rarely exposed as he's been in the past couple of seasons due to his lack of pace. Great comeback for Sami, made up for the Finn.
Riise - 6, Ratings below this are unfair on Riise, who's been uninspired but not plain awful this season. I think the Chelsea incident has been taken out on him unfairly. Not good by his standards, but not Djimi Traore bad.
Aurelio - 7, Poor guy has too many injuries. I really think he looks the real deal when he's fit though. Beauty of a left boot and can tackle well. Good cover on the left.

Pennant - 6, Not enough games to rate higher. He's been okay.
Benayoun - 8, Thought he's been excellent when he's had the chance. How can you argue with his goals and assists? Great squad player.
Kuyt - 7, Hard to rate Dirky. I was gonna go for a 6 but then his work ethic brought up to 7. Okay, he works so hard for the ball, but if you can only do something with it 1/6 times that work is worthless.
Babel - 8, Rated 8 as he's had an impact in the second half of the season, has scored goals and looks extremely promising. I expect a 9 next season.
Kewell - 5, Didn't really play, can't rate him too much.
Lucas - 6, Looks a little lightweight, but can play a pass and works hard enough. I'll reserve judgement till I've seen more, perhaps he'll adapt to English football.
Mascherano - 9, Gotta love little Masch. Works so hard, and the sight of him tearing back to launch into a last ditch tackle is fantastic. He's also a driving force should he get forward, and we are a much stronger team with him in the lineup.
Alonso - 8, He's still a fantastic player but unfortunately injury has plagued him this season. Deserves a lot more credit than he gets though, he brings the whole team into a cohesive unit.
Gerrard - 10, Captain Fantastic was everywhere. You can't argue with 21 goals and that amount of assists this season. I think he's been overshadowed this year by players from other teams, and he's absent from the papers' Teams of the Season, but he's still been a force for us.

Voronin - 4, So so promising and it falls apart. Awful. He's like the Djimi Traore of strikers, without the gangly legs.
Crouch - 7, Good when he gets on the pitch. Perhaps should play more, but with this new system he's not ever gonna muscle Torres out, so perhaps it's time for him to move on. Whoever he plays for he'll contribute alot. Quality player.
Torres - 10, What else? Player of the Season without a shadow of a doubt. Legitimate claims to the best striker in the world, and set records this year. Let's hope he's Liverpools Number 9 till he retires. What a player.

Kewell - minus 1 - poor harry... did he even play this year... I dont care bye bye!
Lucas - 7 - Would have liked to see more of him but im very excited a very good prospect
Mascherano - 9 - One of the key men this year what a player!
Alonso - 7 - Would have been higher if he didnt dip in form mid way through but he's back to normal now
Plessis - 5 - Is this momo sissoko v2?Grin good but we have too many CM he wont be around much longer IMO
Gerrard - 10 - Absolutly brilliant, nando has been taking most of the credit but he wouldnt have nearly as much goals without stevie

El Zhar -  4 - Again good enough but dont see the point
Voronin - refusal to rate -
Crouch - 7 - Petes good for a goal now and then good enough season
Torres - 10 - I dont need to explain this rating

Reina - 7, Solid if unspectacular, looks worringly awkward under the cross and concedes too many at his near post.
Itandje - 4, Showed no reason as to why he should be 2nd to reina.
Arbeloa – 6, Slightly disappointed with his season. Showed so much promise at the back of last season.
Finnan - 6, Injuries have plagued his season
Carragher - 8, Consistent as ever and played out of position for some games but did a good job, a negative is that he did give away a few penalties
Skrtel - 8, Worrying start, but was awesome once settled, expect big things next season
Agger - 6, Not enough match action for Agger this season
Hyypia - 8, Looked out place in his first few games, but once he got back into the mould he was nothing short or awesome.
Hobbs - 6, Needs a season or two on loan, look forward to seeing evolve into a great player though
Riise - 4, Nothing short of awful. One of the worst seasons I have seen from a footballer, ever, cost us CL final
Aurelio - 7, Signs of class at times, but too many injuries, age not his side either
Insua - 6, This kid is quality now and will be world class sooner rather than later, expect more games next season
Pennant - 6, Showed signs of having something to offer.
Benayoun - 7, Got more than I expected from little Yossi. Changed the game against rovers when he came on. Two hat tricks aint bad either.
Kuyt - 6, Not what we want in a wide player and offers nothing upfront
Babel - 8, Play him upfront and watch the birth of a kop idol. Took his chances with class.
Leto - 5, Reminds me Bruno..awful1
Kewell - 5, I will forever look back at his anfield time and cry with what might have been
Leiva - 6, Signs of quality, but no where near the class of Alonso, too light weight as afraid to tackle.
Mascherano - 9, West Hams stupidity is our gain, seriously what were they doing with him?
Alonso - 7, Poor at times but regained some form late on, should not leave in summer
Plessis - 7, Promising youngster and more 1st team chances needed next season
Gerrard - 9, What does that make? 8 years of consitant awesomeness. Worlds best and most consistant midfielders.
El Zhar -  7, A talent, may need to go out on loan for some experience though
Voronin - 5, I will pay to have him sold

Crouch - 7, Good when involved but simply cannot get Rafa to pick him, most likely going in summer
Torres - 9, we bought the lad from sunny spain, torres torres…the rest is history. What more can you say?

Reina - 7, Solid if unspectacular, looks worringly awkward under the cross and concedes too many at his near post.

Torres - 9, we bought the lad from sunny spain, torres torres…the rest is history. What more can you say?

Doesn't concede that many ... hence golden glove x 3 (or is it six if in pairs??!!)

What would Nando need to do exactly to get a 10 in your books lad?

Reina - 9 -The Golden gloves award means I cant give him less than a 9 but he has had a couple of dodgy moments and letting that goal in from Dogbreath on his near post at Anfield loses him a point from me, not that hes bothered though!

Itandje - minus 1 - Jimmy Krankie would get to crosses better than this lad! and every time the ball came in the box he cacked himself waving his hands about like he was bringing a jet in to land.... bye bye Charlie bye bye!

Arbeloa - 7- Started okay but definitely faded as the season went on but certainly useful in the right back position.

Finnan - 6- someone is impersonating our Steve because besides JAR I havent seen such a spectacular loss of form in a long time, wouldn't be surprised to see him go I'm afraid.

Carragher - 8 - Still a rock and covered well at RB when needed may have the legs of Stephen Hawking but hes got the football brain to match and that's why he's still one of the best.

Skrtel - 8- Really impressed and looks a fixture at the back for years to come.

Hyypia - 8- used really well by Rafa and so turned back the years for me towards the end of the season, well worth his extension and I hope he is used as wisely next year.

Hobbs -?- no marks for me as he's out on loan.

Riise - 2-Ahh our own Ginger Stevie Wonder!! besides his little cock up that hardly anyone noticed I would still say the lad had an appalling season, I was never a huge fan but he did get stuck in and what a shot he had! now he sticks it in the wrong net and the only person he worries with his shot is Harry the lad sat next to me on row 35 of the Kop! thanks for the good times fella but I think we all know its Ta Ra!

Aurelio - 7-  His form is up and down like a brides nighty but the good games did outnumber the bad so 7 it is.

Insua - 9- Cheated a bit here as his mark although including his brief time in the first team is mainly made up of his excellent reserve team form, I think this lad is going places and hopefully he steps up to the first team next season, strong and clever on the ball (loved the way he bossed Harewood about in the reserve final) could have a good prospect on our hands.

Pennant - 6- sometimes think he plays like he still has the tag on, tends to shine against weaker opponents but doesn't seem quite up to it against better ones. another one I would sell I'm afraid.

Benayoun - 6- Hasn't impressed me that much however if he would look up and pass a bit more that would be a different story.

Kuyt -3 and 7- three is the mark I would give him for doing what he is supposed to do, Score! seven is his mark for the job he has been asked to do, fantastic workrate gets stuck in but cant cross to save his life, if we buy a striker and winger as is rumoured Dirk will be warming the bench or god forbid Rafa has a flashback and starts rotating again!

Babel - 7- not too bad, would prefer to see him just behind Nando so Stevie can go to his best position, also a bit more confidence wouldn't go amiss as he certainly has the ability.

Leto - 4- looked totally out of his depth whenever I have seen him play, he will either improve dramatically or go the same way as Gonzalez

Kewell - 1- who is this one? is he new? the Lord Lucan of the squad and the biggest waste of time in a red shirt since Graham Norton wore one to the grafton! about £170k a game he's cost us and then had the cheek to turn down a new reduced contract, he was bloody lucky to be offered one,I say sell him or shoot him!

Leiva - 7- played well early on but think he faded as the season went on, will improve for the experience.

Mascherano -8- solid and did a good job would have got nine but for Old trafford but hey we all have to learn and next year he will be a nine or ten.

Alonso - 8- one of the best eyes for a pass since big Jan, I hope he stays and plays a lot more.

Plessis - 8- again I marked him up for his reserve games but what a game he had at the Emirates, another knocking on the door he's like Sissoko but err well good.

Gerrard - 9- asked to change position constantly but always seems to adapt brilliantly, one thing though I do wish he could stay in the game more when we play the top teams as I do think he gets lost sometimes against the Mancs and the like, but that's just me being harsh.

Voronin -100(minus) to infinity. if this lad was on the grassy knoll JFK would be alive today! who the hell scouted this pudding? he came on a free and we where robbed. doesn't run doesn't tackle cant shoot and cant be arsed please find some dopey gullible fool to buy this ponytailed ponce........oh Mr Moyes!

Crouch -8- very under used for some reason especially against Chelsea in the champs league as the only thing that scares John Terry more is the thought of calling Carragher junior Daddy! he ain't the best footballer to watch but he is effective and I wish we had used him a bit more.

Torres -10- hes done okay I suppose! :Smiley...fantastic first season and just electrifies the game when he gets the ball, next season he will get better and better well as long as he doesn't practice with Voronin obviously.

Player of the season!:

Well I think its pretty obvious who is player of the season.....El Nino. What a seaon he has had, he has terrorised and struck fear into defenders and keepers. people talk about ronaldo's amazing goal record and yes 41 goals is good even though it pains me to say it, but what people dont realise is that torres has infact scored more than ronaldo in open play. There are no words to describe how great he has been this season, the only way you can see is by watching pratically every game he has played and every goal he has scored. He has brought a new dimension to not only the team but english football. Cant wait to see him in action next season!

                                         Torres                    Ronaldo

open play:             33                                                    30

Penalties:             0/0                                                   6/8

Freekicks:               0                                                     5

Mins on pitch:      2546-(league)                                    2749-(league) + (more f.a cup, and champo league)
+  (less f.a cup, and champo
                                            League {injury and rested} )

Worst player of the season!:

Voronin doesnt deserve a rating he is so bad, he looks like a tramp and he plays like a tramp and he probaly smells like a tramp! shevchenko is a load of bollocks too so there is a lesson to learnt.........NEVER SIGN ANYONE FROM THE UKRAINE!
Maybe someone will sign him if we have his name changed, nationality changed, cut that bloody ponytail off and made him lose a bit of weight.................. never going to happen Sad at this rate we will have him until the end of his contract, what was rafa thinking giving him such a long contract???  he will probably become the 1st player in the history of football where the team who owns him have paid another team to sign him  Shocked

Damn it I copied the original post and didn't change it. Believe you me it's meant to say 10.

But to answer your question, score more away from home...

my bad, I've put Torres as a 9, he's definately a 10 because he hasn't done anything wrong this season.

I may have overated players like Leto,Kewell,Riise, etc. but they must have done a few things right over thee course of the season so deserve more than 2,3
