Spirit Of Shankly:

Please find below details of a planned march to take place on Saturday prior to the Manchester United game:

Saturday is a massive day for us. We are playing one of our biggest rivals, a team who are one behind us in league titles. A team who are European Champions. And a team that we love to beat. Much of the talk at the moment, however, is about what’s going on off the pitch – what Hicks and Gillett are up to, the stadium and the club’s finances.

The world’s media will be watching. So let’s make ourselves heard on a march from the Liverpool Supporters’ Club, Lower Breck Road, up to Anfield. Let’s remind everyone what we want – Hicks and Gillett, out of OUR club.

Let’s make sure they get the message. Bring yourself, your mates, anyone who wants Hicks and Gillett out should be there. Bring your banners and bring your voices. A passionate mob, directing their anger towards those ruining our football club.

What we need on Saturday is two resounding victories. Firstly, a march on a massive scale that tells the world that Liverpool has had enough of Gillett and Hicks. A march of passion, a march of anger, a march of Red Solidarity that roars its message loud and proud: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! GO NOW!

This is the biggest club game in football and the world will be watching. Our second victory on Saturday comes when we take all that passion and pride inside the ground and take the roof off in a way no Manc has ever seen or heard. They have 76,000 spectators. We've got 40,000 warriors. All together on Saturday - everybody. Every last one of us turn up at Liverpool Supporters Club on Saturday morning for a show of strength that can change our club's destiny.

Liverpool Supporters Club. Saturday, 11am. See you there!

Spirit Of Shankly.

Good idea.  Set your alarm clock an hour early and join in with your fellow supporters to express your anger/disappointment with the muppets running our club.

It'll certainly have some sort of impact. It'll get the message across if nothing else.

Well done to the organisers for arranging this march, just wish I could be there to take part in it.There is no doubt about the publicity that will be shown across the world, hopefully it might be enough to convince Tom and George that their days at ANFIELD are numbered.

I heard they are, no recent confirmation of that though John.

Indeed.  If you're not going the game, still join in the march.

Im delighted to see that one of the biggest selling papers in Ireland has its lead sport story being the march to Anfield tomorrow. It explains the reasons for the march which is good as sadly there are too many "fans" over here who are blind to what goes on behind the scenes at Anfield.

Indeed it does.  Here' s the article from The Independent (Irish)

Enemy at the gates
By Ian Herbert
Friday September 12 2008

Liverpool co-owner George Gillett is expected at Anfield tomorrow for the Premier League lunchtime showdown with Manchester United, and it seems unlikely that he will be left in any doubt about the force of the club's fans antipathy towards him and Tom Hicks.

The Americans' inability to raise cash to progress the club's new stadium development -- integral to the Americans' financial model for Anfield -- allied to an acute sense from up the M62 of what Liverpool are missing without Arab investment of their own, has hardened opposition to Hicks and Gillett.

Thousands of fans are expected to stage a protest march against the two before the match.

It would appear that Gillett, who appears no closer to selling his 50pc share of the club to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the father-in-law of City's new owner Sheikh Mansour, will feel the full force of fans' feelings.

The Spirit of Shankly (SOS) union are organising the protest march, which will start at 11.0 and later converge on Anfield via the symbolic Shankly Gates.

"Saturday is a massive day," SOS said yesterday. "We are playing one of our biggest rivals, a team who are one behind us in league titles. Much of the talk at the moment, however, is about what's going on off the pitch -- what Hicks and Gillett are up to, the stadium and the club's finances."

Jamie Carragher's declaration, in his biography published yesterday, that "for richer or poorer, (we) sold Liverpool to two ruthless businessmen who saw us as a money-making opportunity," will certainly harden opinion yet further.

Rafael Benitez has hinted that new signing Albert Riera may make his debut against United and was remembering yesterday how the Spanish left-winger made his debut for Manchester City in a 3-1 victory over United at Eastlands a few years back.

The omens are good, he feels. Fernando Torres has made good progress from a hamstring tear sustained against Aston Villa on August 31 and is more likely to feature than Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard underwent minor groin surgery straight after the Villa game, and although his rehabilitation has gone well, he may be held back for the Champions League match in Marseille on Tuesday in what promises to be one of the season's first defining weeks for Benitez's side.

SOS are also urging a mass lobby of Royal Bank of Scotland in the hope that Hicks and Gillett's loan extension facility, due in January will not be granted.

March went very well!

Not too sure of the numbers but there was absolutely loads by the time we were leaving the supporters club.

Rogan Taylor was also there with a massive Share Liverpool FC banner.

There was quite a few press there so some pics and video should surface soon.
