Everton v Liverpool match thread
«
on:
September 27, 2008, 11:54:07 AM »
Rafael Benitez has named the same side that drew with Stoke City for the 208th Merseyside derby at Goodison Park this afternoon.
The Reds boss stands by the starting XI who were frustrated by the Barclays Premier League newcomers last weekend after Javier Mascherano and Yossi Benayoun were both ruled out through injury.
It means Xabi Alonso will partner skipper Steven Gerrard at the heart of the midfield with Robbie Keane and Fernando Torres again paired up front.
The Liverpool team in full: Reina, Arbeloa, Dossena, Carragher, Skrtel, Alonso, Gerrard, Kuyt, Riera, Keane, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Agger, Hyypia, Aurelio, Pennant, Babel, Lucas.

No Agger again.
Good to see Pennant made the bench.

Don't think Everton are going to sit 10 players behind the ball like Stoke did... they're the home side and their handful of fans will want them to go at us. Should be plenty of room for Torres to work his magic!

There is no way I'm missing this match! No way on earth will I miss this one.
I predict, a sending off and a few goals to be scored.
Hopefullyl we'll score the goals and they'll have the players sent off
I just hope Keane can break his duck for us

Today is the next biggest game after the Man U clash and I firmly beleive it will be a resounding win for the mighty Reds. I've gone for a 2-1 with Stevie scoring a screamer to bring up his ton and perhaps Torres, Babel, Kuyt or Keane breaking his duck for the other. In all honesty with the fire power we have in the squad I would be sorely dissapointed if we don't return to Anfield with the derby scalp in the bag.
My starting XI:
REINA
ARBELOA - CARRAGHER - SKIRTEL - DOSSENA
KUYT - GERRARD - MASCH? - RIERA
KEANE
TORRES
SUBS: CAVALIERI, AGGER, SAMI, BABEL, PLESSIS, NGOG
Well my starting XI was pretty close save for Masch being unfit! Alonso is a great asset to the team when he's on form so a few wild shots from the halfway line will put this game to bed!
Enjoy the game guys, I'm off to Walkabouts in Croydon, a pub that just last week saw scenes of jubilation and hysteria as we spanked the Mancs!
COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS!

I want to see Stevie get his 100th goal, I want to desperately see Keane get his first goal, and I would like to see Fernando get his scoring boots on, so 3 goals for me, even though I've only predicted 2-1 ......I'd be more than happy to see 3.
Pity Masch isn't playing, Rafa said last night he was injured.
I think Riera is going to be very important for us today and will step up to the mark.

Come on you Redmen!
No Mascherano is dissapointing but we can do them with the squad we've put out! Fingers crossed Keane does get on the scoresheet today. Would be brilliant to shut up the taxi driver we had lastnight, saying how sh*te he was.
