      Information on staying in Liverpool

For those of you who travel to attend Liverpool FC games or are making that trip of a lifetime it is about to time that we offered some help and guidance on those of you planning to make a night, or a few nights of your trip to Liverpool.

Liverpool is not only home to the greatest football club on the planet, but is also one of the great European cities for architecture, shopping, museums, sightseeing and, of course, partying.

The city has some fantastic hotels in some amazing locations across the city and you will be sure to have a great time when you stay over.

You can search for hotel availability in Liverpool for the dates you want here - all results are ordered in relation to the distance from Anfield with Liverpool city centre, the waterfront and docks only around 2 miles from the ground.

Please be aware that Liverpool hotels are exceptionally busy whenever Liverpool play at home - the earlier you book the better.

You can also order official matchbreak packages.

I'd recommend this one, only about 5-10 mins away from the ground in a taxi, not a bad price, very easy to get to (On Queens Drive, which is continuation of M62) and excellent food in the attached restaurant (Carvery and cheap).    ;D

Premier Inn and Beefeater on Queens drive.  it;s a doddle from there.  used it loads of times when i can't be bothered to drive back from a midweek game.

I usually stay at the Innkeepers Lodge on Queens Drive, and a nice Toby Carvery right next door, dead handy for the M62, and not to far to get to Anfield either.

Thats probably your best bet, because you don't have to pay up front when booking a hotel room,if you do get let down for tickets just ring the hotel and cancel your room.

      Short Stay Apartments in Liverpool
      Hey guys,

Myself and a few mates are heading over to Liverpool for the Man Ure league game (6th March) and we're currently looking into the short stay apartments in the city centre!
I was just wondering if anyone on here knew of any good ones at a reasonable price and are nice enough to stay in?
We've looked at one and it's on Pilgrim St, it's 140 quid a night and looks spot on! So between 3-4 of us it's not to bad!

Any help would be much appreciated,

      Cheers, Andy

Andy, if you don't mind I'd also like to use this thread to ask for similar help: I'll be in Liverpool for the Birmingham match in April and I'd like to know any cheap hotels or hostels where I could stay for 2 or 3 days. I'll be all by myself and I don't intend to stay in the best places in the city, a decent one for a reasonable price is more than ok. Spending much time in my room isn't on my plans anyway :P

Hi guys. When I'm over I usually stay in either the Dolby Hotel or the Campanile Hotel. Both are just by the Albert dock and are close to Paradise street bus station and about 10 minute walk to the city centre. You can find them on the web but, from my experience I sometimes find I get a better price if I phone them up. Also, even if their website says they are fully booked you can usually get a room by phone. Best prices are to be had if you book well in advance. Prices are usually about £40-£45 a night although, I've managed to get a room for £29 per room per night recently. Rooms are basic (TV, on-suite toilet, shower and bath, kettle) Both have either double beds or twin single. Rooms are always clean which is one of the reasons I stay there.

Or try this link to see if you can get one of the Campanile £29 deals (includes breakfast):

Hey there, Lifetime Liverpool supporter. I live near Vancouver Canada, the old man is a born and bread Scouser, a mate and I are heading to the UK Apr 29 to May 19th. We will be in the Leighton Buzzard area, and are looking to go to the LFC v Fulham match on May 7 at Craven then we're planning on making a pilgramage to Anfield for the Spurs match on the 15th.  My cousin is a season ticket holder on The Kop and I'm trying to cover all angles.   If anyone could provide me info regarding tickets for both matches, hoping to be on The Kop for the 15th match but directions for purchasing tickets seem quite the hassle. That being said we'll also be looking at spending a few days in the Pool so if anyone could recommend reasonable spots to stay and ticket info I'd really appreciate it.  This is my first post, and I'm no plastic fan, I watch every game and have done since I was a little kid.  The last time I was at Anfield was a 1-1 draw in 1984 vs QPR pretty sure it was one of Jan Molby's first games with the team.  I was 6 then ;D.  Anyhow cheers guy's been looking forward to getting on here but it was locked for ages

If you don't mind staying outside of the city, the bridge inn over in port sunlight is cheap as chips. As far as I remember it is 60 a night for a family room. Double bed, single bed and sofa bed. food is quite nice too actually.

Only a short train journey to the city.

Your best bet for the Fulham game would be to get Fulham tickets they have a large neutral section get registered and keep checking for details.

You might struggle for the Spurs game as its the last home game of the season, so hopefully your Cousin can sort you out.

I'm not sure if you want something in town Diego, but there is a Guest House near Anfield, called Newsham Park and its very reasonable, the phone number is 0151 263 9400, and it costs £25 a night, also check out the thread on the forum about places to stay.

If money isn't too much a deal, stayed in the Staybridge Suites on the docks with an ex few years back and it was boss. Pretty quiet as well.

Think it was like £70 a night.

Thanks Cas. To be honest I preferred something closer to the city centre but it seems like I don't have much option now, left it too late. But how far is it from the center, exactly? Is it alright to come and go from there?

Diego, have you checked out the above places that Dave posted?

Thanks Cas. To be honest I preferred something closer to the city centre but it seems like I don't have much option now, left it too late. But how far is it from the center, exactly? Is it alright to come and go from there?

Its on a main road, so buses are very frequent, it takes about 10/15 minutes to get into town.

      Yes, fully booked :(

I was thinking of booking for Thursday and Friday in this hostel near the city center and stay only the Saturday there, maybe. I sent them an email asking about their availability, they haven't replied yet.

Yeah, can't find anything for a reasonable price though :/

I'm almost confirming a reservation at the Hatters Hostel for my first 2 nights there, it's very close to the center and the train station so it works perfectly for me when I arrive there. I can drop my bags there and go to the Anfield Experience.

But then I'll have to find a place to sleep in the Saturday night, the guest house Cas mentioned still haven't replied my email yet

/ \ Done it. If I find somewhere else I can cancel my reservation, but it's a relief to have somewhere to sleep for at least my first days there :D Asked them to let me know if anyone cancels a reservation for the Saturday April 23rd. Will try to call the Guest House later.

Thanks a lot LFC-LCFC and Cas for trying to help me!

      Hey all,

I'm comming over from Ontario, Canada I'm a big time Liverpool supporter. I've been one other time to watch the home opener against burnley back in 09, but I only had time to watch the match then I had to leave. This trip I'm spending the weekend in town and was hoping someone could give me advice where I could stay for cheap. Thanks!

Had some friends up last week and they stayed in the Beech Mount Hotel and they recommended it highly as a great location to get to the ground and also access for going into town, they jumped the 27 bus to the ground which took 8 mins from Shiel Rd just over the road from the hotel. They rated the hotel as 4star+
and will be staying there again as the accommodation and food we're spot-on and the price was good compared to some city center hotels and availability.

      The Beech Mount 1-3 Beech St Liverpool 7 L7 0HT 0151 264 9189.

Usually stay in the classic Travelodge in the city centre. Easy access to everything the beautiful city has to offer, and for the time I'm there, I'm not even worried what the room's like - so long as the sheets are clean! Not tried the Liverpool North Hotel, any good mate?

Will be travelling down next week for Spurs game, any suggestions? Probably be doing Saturday - Monday and ideally close to city centre. Everywhere I look is mega expensive.

Go for somewhere just outside town,  somewhere you could get a cab to the ground from.
Hotels in town charge crazy prices, a straight rip off.

Managed to get decent accommodation close to Anfield for a good price. Now all that remains is picking up the tickets when I’m down there. Fell through last time so hopefully I’m set this time. Will be spending the weekend, any recommendations for places to go?

I'm beginning to plan my trip. I've done a little research and have found a lot of very reasonable AIRBNB rooms and apartments. A lot of them are cheaper than just about every hotel I've priced out.

If anyone is interested, if your flying into London I saw that you can take the Virgin Train up to Liverpool and they have multiple trains running at all times. A round trip ticket is about $120 U.S. Apparantly the Virgin Trains cost more than others but, they're nicer and faster. If anyone can verify this i would like to know for sure.

Yeah it's probably the best way of getting to Liverpool, although with connections to and from the airport you land it, there is a flight from stansted - John Lennon Airport for around the same price, although I don't know how regular the flights are.

Ok. Thanks .If you dont mind can I PM you about my trip planning? I found places to stay on AirBNB but i know nothing about the areas. I dont want to rent a room in some place that is like Trainspotting or in the middle of nowhere where I cant use a train or bus. Im also want to try and find someone who can hook me up with match tickets thats a legit seller or someone trustworthy.

Thanks again for the info on the Virgin Trains.

I use them enough to know this is your best way to get between Liverpool and London. About 2 hours 10 mins journey which is excellent and the option to get on the ale? No brainer.

Just make sure you get the direct and not the one that changes at Crewe. And obviously, plan your journey for the off peak or you'll be paying a fortune

If you book enough in advance you can get two single tickets for around half of that.

London to Liverpool on train is a lot less of a ballache than from a London airport to London IMO.

I planned on getting a late, off peak ticket. I figured on trying to set it up where I can fly in and land early in London. Around 10am. Spend the day in London checking out the Military Museum, grab a late lunch and then get up to Liverpool on one of the post rush hour trains. But of course well thought out vacation plans usually get fu**ed up about 20 min after you land, so who knows. I pray to god that my trip doesn't coincide with Trumps London visit. If it does Ill just say I'm a Canadian.

If on a budget and you don't mind the longer travel, consider National Express or Megabus coaches. I've done the Liverpool - London route a few times when saving money and it can be ridiculously cheap, like 5 pounds. It takes about 6 hours, so that's not for everyone, of course. But I think the coaches are fairly comfortable and you could travel over the night if you want.

London is now the murder capitol of the world so be careful you don't get shot, fly into London and get straight down to Liverpool would be safer and a lot more fun, we have a museum down here with some militaria.
