      Nathan Eccleston Player Thread
      Nov 07, 2008 02:03:57 am
Watched him playing for the Academy side the other night.  Popped a hat-trick past Bolton.

Turns 18 in a couple of months.  Not too sure what happens with contracts and such like and when Academy players get them but he looks like if he beefs himself up a bit he could make a career out of this professional football lark.

He's a Manc, but we won't hold that against him for now.  Any been down to watch him or has he caught anyone's eye?

I've heard nothin but good things about this lad. Being in our Champions League "b" squad shows the faith the club has in him as well at such a young age. Certainly one to hold onto for a few more years.

What's the crack then - do they have to offer him a contract at 18?

I'd imagine so, a professional one. The standard contract is two years and see where the player is at by the end of it.

If this lad does not make it or is at least given the chance to prove he can play for the first team well then the academy may as well shut down. Hes a quality footballer who is lethal in front of goal.

Actually I notice he is in our 'First Team squad' but don't understand why he was playing for the Academy?

      Ah well.

      He looks good, a natural.

But Pacheco is younger, and more gifted. Different kind of player, but looks more of a sure-fire hit.

And Lauri Dalla Valle is younger too, and a wonderful prospect.

Then there's Marvin Pourie, who's not bad either.

I think pacheco is our best young striker apart from nemeth of course.

Heard alot about this guy, not seen him play but heard that hes a great talent and a good prospect for the future. Hope this is true.

      Ah well.

He's in our Champions League "b" squad mate and has been given the squad number 39 in case he's required to come in the Champions League squad because of injuries. I think that's why he's on first team profiles.

Ya read that a couple of minutes ago, it said neither the club or player were willing to comment. Would be very disappointed if he was allowed go he looks like a very good prospect and he is a wide man something we are sadly lacking.

Probably pissed off with Voronin getting the nod ahead of him.
Seriously though, hope they can sort something out, he's a great player.

We can't let the lad's potential get away from us, we gotta keep him with us and let him break into the first team.

I've watched the Ressies more this season and this lad has come on leaps and bounds.Imo he should be in front of Voronin for selection,he is the epitomy of the saying " if your'e good enough then your'e old enough.

It would be a real shame if he did turn a contract down because from what i've seen and heard, he is one for the future. I hope he decides to stay because he will get many opportunities to play for the first team, just needs to be a bit more patient.

Very different players. Voronin plays off the striker, Ecclestone is more of a Torres-type.

Ecclestone looks great at reserve level these days, but doesn't mean he'll translate it to the first team.

I'll be dead mad if we lose him, what's the point in bringing these lads up from the Reserves if we're going to let them go before they even get a taste of proper first team football with the Reds.

These lads are the future of Liverpool Football Club, we need to nurture them. I just hope Nemeth comes back.

      You know how else they're different? Voronin's a fat lazy c**t. Ecclestone isn't ;)
