Liverpool v Aston Villa: Pre Match
      Mar 18, 2009 01:47:35 am
Strike a light - not often I'm in quick enough to start this topic but....

The Mighty Liverpool FC v Aston Villa 4pm
      FA Premiership
      Sunday 22nd March 2009
      Anfield

Aston Villa got beat last weekend (against the run of play) to Spurs.

      That's a real shame that.

It's always painful for a side to get beat twice on the trot.

Was just about to say that was a bit quick JD.

Well they have won 0 out of 10 and very average against the Spurs Corluka absolutely pocketed Ashley Young we will need Arbeloa to do the same. We are on fire at the moment and should be strenghtened by Xabi's and Yossi's return. I would like to see our best 11 out there no F***ing about anymore.

      Villa have fell apart.

Manager havig a go at the fans, fans having a go at the players. All they need now is to find out Doug Ellis is taking over as chairman again.

Anyway, this should be a stroll for us. We're playing as well as we have all season and still have some of our key players to return to the team or in Torres' case full fitness. Get the game won and bring the big boys off like we've been able to against Madrid and United.

No time to take the foot of the gas here.

It's full throttle.....hopefully we can score a few goals, not concede and eat away at the Mancs and Chavs + 5 goal difference.

C'mon Rafa, play your strongest available 11.

We need to come in to attack, attack, attack like we did vs Real Madrid. The only good thing is Villa are not a side who parks the bus away from home, they will try to play but I hope we come out with some real urgency.

      I would like to see.

Let us start winning matches by five goals to nil. The winner of this league can be determined by goal difference. So bring on Aston Villa !

Last season in this fixture we drew with Villa at home 2-2 with goals from Benayoun and Crouch. After that game I made a note saying I had never seen us give the ball away as much as we did in the first 30 minutes. Now for the good news we are in top form at the moment so I look forward to RAFAS MIGHTY REDS doing the business and getting three points. With Stevie and Torres  playing like they are we are the envy of every club.

      Manc.

We need to guard ourselves against complacency here, because teams normally bounce back from defeats against us, (Boro' away!)

But if the lads still want to fight for our pride in the League, then they better F***ing show it to us.  It says nothing if we hammer Madrid and Utd consecutively and go off and draw against Villa.

Come on Liverpool, we probably won't win the League, but if we don't, let's at least go down swinging.

actually, no. keeping the manu game apart, when was the last time we won with a good scoreline? against newcastle 5-1 if i'm not wrong.(although we haven't had many wins since then :( ) but keeping the chelsea's and manure's goal difference in mind, we're still behind, right?

We're definitely seeing them tiring towards the end of the season. Not enough strenght in depth Villa. Whats a good start without a fantastic finish? Whack them a few like what we did to aston villa, although I would really like to see them getting qualified into the UCL.

People keep going on about the goal difference. Here's the current EPL table:

      Code: [Select]
      Premier League Table

        Team          P W D L GD Pts
      1 ManUre         28 20 5 3 33 65
      2 Chel$ki 29 18 7 4 33 61
      3 Liverpool 29 17 10 2 28 61
      4 Arsenal 29 14 10 5 19 52
      5 Villa         29 15 7 7 12 52

Why are we freaking out? We're five goals behind, there's no need to beat Villa 5-0, attractive prospect though it is. ;)

If we are hoping to catch United, we know they need to draw or lose games, at the same time that we carry on winning, to catch up the points difference. Even winning one or two nil, whilst they draw or lose their matches, will be enough to reduce the gap in the goal difference.

Rest assured, if we make up the points difference, the goals should sort themselves out.

(If they beat Fulham 10-0 I shall come back and edit this post accordingly! ;))

Looking forward to this game. Might be tough as Villa haven't won in 7 games and they've just dropped out of the top 4 for the first time this season (suprisingly) and they'll be looking to hit back and get back above Arsenal. It should be tough, but im confident of a win. I'd play Doss for this game, his confidence will be high and i'd like to see him on the left wing.

      Pepe

      Carra/Arbeloa - Skrtel - Hyypia/Carra - Aurelio

      Mascherano - Alonso

      Kuyt - Gerrard - Dossena

Dont be too sure mate, Obviously Villa are not getting results at the minute, but they did enough on Sunday to get at least a draw. On paper We should have no worries but as You know they're not played on paper and this is exactly the type of match we have struggled to finish off.

we are playing well, villa in a bit of a rutt.
i can,t predict what is going to happen, as we are at home in the league.
Anything could happen, lets just try to not go a goal behind again, or maybe we should.

This is so sweet, Rafa has a lot of deliberations to do, as to what team he should send out. Everyone is confident, and everyone is brimming to play. But I believe, Benayoun should play if passed fit. He has instigated this whole new attitude, within the squad. By all means, Dossena coming on again and scoring another goal. So I'ld give Babel the start, Kuyt could have a rest.

As we are high in spirits, and Villa is really fearing their demise. Let's knock them even more of their pedestal.
