How big a stadium do we need
      Apr 21, 2009 03:55:29 pm
Its been a while since I have been a regular.Since my Dad and my Uncle who was a ticket agent died I haven't been able to get to as many matches as I would like. It seems almost impossible now to get a ticket. How many more people like me are there that would go to most home games if they could get a ticket. Would we fill a 60,000 seater stadium I think we would and possibly more. Would 70,000 be closer to the mark particularly if we win the league this year and continue to improve.

If the demand is there which they should clearly see from ticket applications through STH, PTS, FH/Member Exchanges the size of the stadium really matters.

The waiting list for a ST is what 10 years or more with list 50,000 + strong...thats tells the whole story what the club needs.

We need a stadium of at least 70,000, we would fill it every week, its near impossible to get a ticket for Anfield now as it stands, it would cut out the amount of Liverpool fans being ripped off for tickets.

Every home game hits the 44500 mark. Add 20000 on the st waiting list. Add the load that cant get tickets and then add the locals who are overlooked. If they built a 75000 stadium cleared off the season ticket list and allowed 10000 locals purchase tickets on a Wednesday it would be full no bother

I think the club may have left it too late.

They've probably alienated quite a lot of local fans now.  If the club had managed the ticketing better then they would have easily filled a 70,000 seater - because Rick Parry is a w**ker and has spent the past 10 years bending over backwards to everyone but local fans you get situations such as 25,000 fans for Carling Cup games.

A 60,000 seater will probably be plenty.

I would like to have a bigger stadium than the the Mancs but 60-65,000 would be enough. The one thing I am concerned about the stadium, and sorry to go off topic here is whether Gerrard and Carragher ever play in it because there is no sign of there being a new stadium anytime soon and they can't be built in a week.

I think a 65,000 seater stadium would be an appropriate size for Liverpool.
I've heard that many clubs won't fill a 50,000 so its better to play with a full stadium than a half empty one to create atmosphere.
But the atmosphere for many Liverpool games is so good that I don't think that matters much.
If the new stadium is bigger then more tickets should go to locals rather than coporates.

That should be the case anyway.

Yeh I know it should. But it makes more reasons to give tickets to locals

You think! Knowing who actually owns us and who implemented the Thomas Cook deal, you can all bet your sweet asses it will mean even more corporate wankers being able to get tickets. We will, after all, have a stadium to pay for!

i gotta agree with you, more seats = more corporate, which will happen like you said, with us having to pay off the stadium, and thats means even higher ticket prices, which means we will end up like old trafford filled up with very rich out of towners who can afford the ridiculous ticket prices.

but to answer the question, you could easily fill up 80 000, if the tickets were £20.

tickets though will be around £40-60 in a new stadium, so to fill it regularly id say 60 000 would be adequate, because people couldnt afford to go regularly, therefore less demand for tickets

As a suporter from the East Anglia who would love to come and watch Liverpool play I think you would fill a 75k ground easy. We can not get tickets to any games even against the smallest clubs. There are loads of Liverpool fans round here and it would be nice to see at least a couple of games a year at Anfield. I have been a Liverpool fan for over 50 years and it is not the same watching your team on the TV.

it would be good if we could get a stadium big enough for all the fans on the waiting list for season tickets also fans with no games on there fan cards can have a better chance to get tickets for games against man u and everton also champions leauge matches as am one of they fans i think they will build a stadium of around 60,000 to 75,000 but if it was up 2 me i would like a stadium of around 70,000 to 88,000 bigger than old trafford mabe could rise to 90,000

Easy solution to the situation would be to build a 70.000 seater stadium with plans in the existing drawing for a 30.000 increase then if supply meets demand for 3 seasons or so look at expansion

Way back when they first came on the scene I think they remarked at how high ticket prices are and that a bigger stadium would mean lower ticket prices!!!!!!!.I think I need to go back on medication ,did they say that?.

100.000 so we have 85.000 kopites singing "you'll never walk alone" as we rip Man Utd a new Arse hole as their current one Fergie will have retired by the time we get a new stadium.

If we carry on doing as fans what we are now, i.e the twelth man, 65/70 will be just right.

Don't want to upset anyone but the stadium as the yanks have planned it looks pretty fecking good. Really hope it goes ahead, although would rather it be some other owner.
