Saw Bat For Lashes at the Opera House last weekend.  Was great but was a little bit too adult for my liking, would've much preferred a gig as opposed to a concert if you get what I mean.

Big weekend planned. Going to see one of my favorite bands on both Saturday & Sunday night, Archers of Loaf. They were indie darlings in the 90's coming out of the Chapel Hill scene (Superchunk, Polvo, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc). Their run was way too short and I still remember how awesome their last show in NYC was in '98. What a bill that night: Kid Dynamite, Knapsack, At The Drive-In and Archers. The set was like a Greatest hits album but they played everything i would want to hear, so it made the pill a little easier to swallow.

A couple of favorites, though it's all so good:
Archers of Loaf - Lowest Part Is Free!

Archers Of Loaf - Harnessed In Slums

Archers of Loaf - Scenic Pastures

Sitting in Prospect Park on this beautiful evening. Tonight's acts are  The Hackensaw Boys (on now), The Punch Brothers  and Justin Townes Earle 9Who I'm a big fan of). Drinking a lovely Goose Island and only had to pay $3 for the show (didn't even have to pay...that's the recommended donation).

Waiting on a buddy to show up. Life is good.

Am I stoked? Hell f***in yeah.

      Nice one buddy.

On Wednesday, me and my good lady, went down to Dublin's Bruxelles Bar where Vintage Trouble were playing.

The band had been playing in support to Bon Jovi (*spits at music for people who don't like music) and then on to the Zodiac Bar, in Bruxelles, for a free gig in really intimate surroundings (holds about 80) and I tell you what: it was an amazing F***ing night! ...

I was offered free tickets to Bon Jovi at RDS on Thursday, managed to get from Bettystown to Ranaleigh to pick up the tickets and then to RDS in under an hour and a half, this included sprinting down train tracks trying to find a taxi! Missed some of it, but I saw Bon  Jovi for over an hour for FREE! Then I went to a nightclub, absolutely unreal night!

And a few weeks ago I saw the Manic Street Preachers in the Olympia, they are just incredible!

Absolutely brilliant at the Hillsborough Concert back in 97, A Design For Life sung massively that day.

Don't know if you'd class this as a concert so to speak but this was one of the best events I ever attended - the 15th anniversary of Nightmare In Rotterdam at the Ahoy Arena, it was banging!! My mate spun out and stayed in the hotel drinking so he gave me the rest of his dancing tablets and the rest is history......

Nah, best Manic Street Preachers track is 'From Despair To Where'  ;)

Manic Street Preachers: From Despair to Where-better quality

They didn't do much for me beyond 'The Holy Bible' because Richey was no longer around to write the lyrics and they became a bit repetative.

To keep it on topic, I've seen them a couple of times, a good 10-12 years ago (unfortunately minus Richey). I also had a plectrum that James Dean Bradfield gave to me after the first gig but I think an ex has stolen it!

      Nice one Andrew.

I'm heading down to Oxegene Poxygene  ;D tomorrow with the sole intent of catching the Foos, who are headlining.

I haven't got a ticket but reckon, as ever, it'll be easy enough to get a ticket from a scalper for less than half-price. Really looking forward to it too - like yourself I've caught them about a dozen times and they've always delivered.

Ted Leo on Saturday afternoon. Free outdoor show and the weather is supposed to be perfect.

He always puts on a great live show, but what I'm most excited about is that he'll be doing The Tyranny of Distance from front to back for its 10th anniversary.

On a related note, I'd like to know where those ten years went!

Envious over Ted BR... you jammy git.

Looking at the line up for tomorrow - I'll most likely take in Cashier No 9, Plan B, The Vaccines and (maybe) the Arctic Monkeys. Beginning to get a good buzz on for this now - got me a bag of pink diamonds - and will be flying my tits off to Monkey Wrench...  >:D

Remember when that came out. Mr Grohl seems to sing this whole section without taking a breath so we used to try it. Blue faces all around, ;D

one last thing before I quit
I never wanted any more than I could fit into my head
I still remember every single word you said
and all the sh*t that somehow came along with it
still there's one thing that comforts me
since I was always caged and now I'm free

Just for the one day racer - as is my want. I used to do the whole lot when it was Witness and up to three years ago but after moving to Punchestown it tended to attract a sh*t load of young scobes and knacker types and became uncomfortable - I gig to enjoy life, not to look over my shoulder for idiots.

I now tend to pick a day, (Foos this year, RATM another for example), head off at my leisure, with no ticket and no real plans, buy a ticket from a scalper and go F***ing mental as I see where life takes me. There should be four of us, maybe five - but I'll be there.
