I see masch as the one who covers for Glen's runs with Dirk pushing into the box.

Either way aslong as we are not vunerable to a counter attack I would be Happy

I think and hope 'course that he will be a great player for us next season and beyond. Liverpool lacked something in his position for a while now. He's the caliber that Liverpool should aim for.

      good luck new red.

Come on Glen, I can't wait to see you holding that Liverpool scarf up in the sky together with Rafa, unveiled in the stadium that is Anfield. And of course seeing you in the press conference speaking about the transfer would be great as well.

I am sure this guy is a quality addition to the team. Joined the club at the right time, and is just gonna get better learning his trade from the best defender in the world, the best player in the world and the best manager in the world.

Phil Neal: Glen Johnson can bring the best out of Fernando Torres at Liverpool FC
LIVERPOOL legend Phil Neal believes Glen Johnson can bring the best out of Fernando Torres after the right-back sealed his record-breaking move to Anfield.

Johnson, 24, became the most expensive defender in Liverpool’s history by completing his £17million move from Portsmouth.

The Greenwich-born player has signed a four-year contract with the Reds and becomes Rafa Benitez’s first major signing of the summer.

Neal reckons the England international’s arrival can bring the best out of ace goalscorer Torres.

He said: “He reminds me of the great attacking right-backs we have had at the club during the time I was there – and before me as well.

“He is a quality addition and he will provide a lot more ammunition for the forwards, that’s for sure.

“Torres will benefit from having Glen in the side more often than not.”

He added: “He gets forward well and crosses a decent ball. I watched him closely during the recent England v Andorra game and was suitably impressed.

"He was bubbling with confidence and is a player that catches the eye.

“He’s probably got as much defensive quality as I had and he is quite capable of doing a very good job for Liverpool.

“I really do think he’s a top quality addition.”

Although Johnson’s official price tag of £17million smashes the £7million Liverpool paid for Andrea Dossena – their previous most expensive defender – last summer, a large chunk of the fee will be absorbed into funds Portsmouth still owe the Reds for Peter Crouch when he moved to Fratton Park a year ago.

Johnson’s move will also speed up Alvaro Arbeloa’s exit, with the Spaniard poised to return to former club Real Madrid.

      Jones: Johnson is England's finest

Former Liverpool defender Rob Jones believes the Reds have signed England's best right-back in the form of Glen Johnson.
The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a four-year deal on Friday to complete his move from Portsmouth.

Jones, who made 243 appearances for Liverpool, is delighted with the acquisition of a player he feels will bolster Rafa Benitez's charges.

"I think Johnson is an excellent player," Jones told Liverpoolfc.tv. "We're getting a good defender and someone who loves to go forward too, which is something I think Liverpool have perhaps been missing.

"He's got virtually everything to his game and I think that's why the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea were fighting over him.

"Johnson is strong in most areas; he's good at going forward, has good pace, is strong and his defending has really come in the last couple of years.

"He's the all-round right-back and will strengthen the team. It's obvious Rafa rates him very highly."

Jones is confident Johnson is experienced enough to be a success at Anfield, despite a hit-and-miss spell with Chelsea earlier in his career.

"When he first went to Chelsea he was perhaps a little bit too young and things didn't work out too well for him," added the former England international.

"However, I've watched him in a few games since he went to Portsmouth and he's played really well and has even been scoring goals.
"I think he's got what it takes to cut it at a top club like Liverpool. He will have learned from his time at Chelsea and is a more experienced player now.

"I believe now is the right time for him to come to club as big as Liverpool."

Johnson was named man-of-the-match for his performance in England's recent 6-0 demolition of Andorra at Wembley and Jones believes the Reds' new signing to be the finest right-back the Three Lions have at their disposal.

"Johnson is the best English right-back around, definitely," added Jones. "He's strong, quick and good going forward and defending.

"Benitez has certainly gone for one of the very best there is."

That is very, very controversial, HUYTON. May spark some angry responses...i like it.
