Could any team break into the top four this season?
      Jul 20, 2009 12:47:21 pm
For years Liverpool,Man United,Chelsea and Arsenal have occupied the top 4 spots, would there be any other team that could break down the so called "Big 4".With Man city blowing money out their asses could they grab a champions league spot or could Spurs climb up the ladder.

Of course, I think Man City will take Arsenals spot this season. It will be Chelsea and us 1st and 2nd, we'll be first if we a) keep Alonso and b) sign Silva. Man United will finish 3rd/4th with City because they don't look strong this year, although I think if Rooney has a good season they could play very well. Then it will be Arsenal, Villa, Bitters, Spurs in the 5th-8th I think.
But I think that long term the "big four" teams will still be very strong

Very difficult to tell but Arsenal might drop out of it.

They havent been that consistent and the loss of Adebayor is going to leave them short. They wouldn't have someone experienced to pair up with v. Persie, and if he gets injured then I really dont know how he is going to play his strikers.

Wenger needs to spend the money if not he could be in big danger - they let Adebayor go so easily just like that. Any team who is consistent at the top, Aston Villa, Spurs, and maybe even City might go up to be the top 4. Needs to be consistent though.

Not a chance Arsenal are still capable of making 4th place there own next season even without Ade. Wenger is a pr**k but he knows what he's doing. Arseshavin will fill the void.

Nope I can't even see City breaking the top 5 to be honest. A load of class players, doesn't necessarily make a class team.

Yeah I predict the same I still Arsenal can manage a top 4 finish if they try to start to win ugly . But I seriously think that this season is our season , we have the spine intact if Xabi stays and the extra spark of creativity if we get Silva that we've lacked ,and maybe upgrade on a back up striker . And most importantly keep Steven and Nando fit and firing the whole season I see no.19 coming our way .

I don't think Man City will be able to break the top four this season, all those new players need to gel and Mark Huges will end up needing to see who he needs to weed out of the club to make it strong but maybe in season 2010/11 they could be a serious threat. Arsenal well it is hard to say with them what they are going to do, same squad pretty much pushed for the title in 2007/08 season then last year was pretty much in a fight for 4th all season with Villa. I think they will benefit from having a fit Eduardo and a full season of Ashivan.

I think City will be the sexy media pick to surprise yet i see no reason they will break out and actually make the Top 4.

There is a chance that City will break into the top 4 perhaps with the expense of Arsenal. City have a lot of fire power.. a decent midfield.. its their defensive capabilities that may let them down. The Gunners do welcome back Rosicky and Eduardo this season which may be a big boost. The 'big 4' will most probably occupy the top 4 positions again but I dont think City will be too long in changing that if not this season then next. As Rafa says Money,Money,Money and City have lots of it and are certainly not scared to spend it and chase top players.

City won't break into the top 4.

      They'll underperform, as usual.

I reckon the top four will stay the same, i can't see City breaking into it next year. I'd say they'll finish around 5th or 6th if there lucky, but i could be wrong. They need to be consistent, something that they lacked an awful lot last year. There away record was woeful last season, something that the 5 new signings (Tevez, Santa Cruz, Barry, Adebayor and Taylor) are sure to improve on. Arsenal should be able to keep there heads above water, Utd won't be as strong this year but should secure a third spot, Chelsea second and then of course Liverpool to finish 1st! ;)

Don't know about breaking in, but Arsenal could be dropping out if they're not careful.

Adebayor to City, and now Nasri is out for 2-3 months with a broken leg.

Their first four matches are apparently Everton (away), Pompey, Man Utd (away) and Man City (away). Be very interesting to see how many points they manage to get out of those games.

      Nasri suffers broken leg

Arsenal midfielder injured during pre-season training

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has suffered a broken leg during the club's pre-season training camp in Austria.

The France international is facing between two and three months on the sidelines after fracturing his right fibula on Tuesday morning.

Nasri will miss the opening weeks of the Premier League season and will be hoping to return to action at some stage in October.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury during a training match at Arsenal's summer camp in Bad Waltersdorf and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

A statement on the club's official website confirmed: "Samir Nasri has sustained a fractured fibula during this morning's training session at the club's pre-season training camp in Austria.

"The midfielder will be out of action for two to three months."

The news will come as a major setback to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger as he looks to end the club's four-year trophy drought.

On top of missing several weeks of club action, Nasri has been ruled out of France's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Faroe Islands, Romania and Serbia.

Wonder how he'll spend, Arsene. If he doesnt get a decent midfielder, they struggle big time.

                                 Almunia

      Sagna          Toure            Djourou         Clichy

                                  ???

                        Denilson          Fabregas

      Walcott                                              Arshavin

                         Van Persie/Eduardo

Could do some damage, that side, provided they get a strong midfielder.

I think it will be a lot closer this season but will still be the same four teams. Cant see city making the step up, and Everton will do well to finish fifth.

No one will break the top 4 next season or the season after. For years now there has been talk of Spurs breaking it, Villa breaking it and now City. No chance, and City know they wont and that why that bell end Robinho has said it is now top 5 with City occupying that 5th spot.

Although i dont know how Robinho can come to that conclusion when they finished mid table and 13 points behind 5th place and 22 behind 4th.

There was a 9 point gap between 4th and 5th last season, massive difference and regardless of Adebayor going Arsenal will come in the top 4 because Wenger will find a way to replace him. Anyway Van Persie is much more of threat than that lazy sh*t anyway.

City break the top 4? :lmao: they were closer to relegation and bottom of the league than 4th place, worse than when they had Sven and less money :lmao:

Forgot about Vermaelen, Red Barrovian. Put him in for Djourou, they still need another midfielder.
