Hamilton has always been moody but has the mental strength to bounce back remarkably quickly. Looking forwadr to the next race - I think he will put Rosberg in his place.

Regarding the psychologist - there's absolutely no point using one if you don't have faith that they will work in the first place. Hamilton obviously doesn't see the need and therefore has rightly let the opportunity pass.

Hamilton has raw speed in abundance.
When things go right for him he is untouchable.

It's when things go wrong that his weakness shows.

Some drivers can compartmentalise and it prevents
the shows of petulance when they have a bad weekend.

Marquez and Lorenzo are perfect examples of racers who
can compartmentalise what happens. Hamilton can't.

He's the F1 equivalent of a modern footballer.
For all his jibes at Rosberg about hunger it is
Hamilton who was funded by McLaren his entire career.

He's left that cocoon now, for better or worse.

Not so warm and cosy outside of the cocoon mate.

I said to Paul after qualifying that it doesn't matter whether Nico intended to disrupt his lap time or not, it would play into his hands as Lewis allows things to fester.

Having said that he does seem to bounce back the next race even when he has had a setback which indicates he can compartmentalise but that it just takes him some time.

If anything he strikes me as having incredible focus even for an F1 driver.

Also - rosberg has always had backing but Hamilton would have been out on his ear if he wasn't producing the goods for Mclaren - Ron Dennis wouldn't have it any other way. :)

What a race!! Pathetic move from Perez there at the end to cut across when he knew Massa was alongside him. Definitely culpable in my eyes. Feel really disappointed for Hamilton and the championship race that he had to retire for the second time this season through no fault of his own. If he's to win this championship he's going to have to do it the hard way.

But DELIGHTED for Ricciardo! Awesome season he's had so far for an fine driver, a drastic improvement on Mark Webber.

      What. A. Race.

Congratulations on Ricciardo for breaking the Merc monopoly and Nico for an outstanding race to 2nd.

Glad to see both Perez and Massa are okay.

      Another Canadian Classic.

Circuit just has something about it that provides great races. Whether it's the semi street, semi purpose built track, the long straights, the numerous chicanes and hairpins, I don't know, but it delivers what the spectator wants year after year. Strange as it's just a drive from the start line to the Casino hairpin and all the way back.

Next up Austria, and back to normality.

What do you mean? I really look forward to the long awaited return of the Osterreichring, last on the calendar in 2003! I know it's pretty pointless using races from 11+ years ago as a reference point but I always enjoyed the A1 Ring (as it was called back then, now it's the Red Bull Ring) and the setting is exquisite in the hills above the town of Spielberg. Only four drivers from today's grid have raced their in f1 - Massa, Button, Alonso and Raikkonen. It will also, if I stand corrected, be the shortest lap of the whole f1 season - expect lap times close to 1m 10 seconds or so (the fastest lap from the 2003 weekend was 1.07.908 set by Schumacher in the qualifying shoot out)

But I suppose it will always hold a special place in my heart for one of the most memorable races I watched as a kid when Schumacher stormed back to win the race after losing a considerable amount of time in a pit stop fire!

      F1 Austria 2003 - M.Schumacher fire pitstop

To say he was not flustered by it all would be an understatement! What a performance, what a driver. Still so gutted of his current predicament.

Thoroughly enjoyed the race. Retirements, crashes, over takes, mix of strategies, continuous position changes etc. it had the lot! Although it was via default on the last lap, I was very happy to see Button finish 4th and pick up some decent points with me being a McLaren fan and all. I dislike Red Bull but I really like Ricciardo so was also chuffed to see him bag a victory after a fair few unfortunate events occurring on his behalf so far this season.

One thing that pissed me off though was when Rosberg went from being 0.4 seconds in front of Hamilton to approx. 1.3 seconds after purposely cutting the final corner and didn't at least slow it down a little for Hamilton to get the advantage back. When Hamilton did it though he gave the position back that he gained via cutting the corner.

I've not seen a close up replay of the Massa & Perez crash so I don't have a great understanding on the situation. It wouldn't surprise me if it was caused by Perez drifting to the left but also wouldn't surprise me if Massa was being too aggressive going into the corner.

Yeah I thought that was cheeky of Rosberg personally. To retain a clear advantage in lap time let alone track position was not right. The stewards have set a precedent for the rest of the season now - you're allowed to take one corner cut a race if you want to remain ahead of the guy behind.

      Yeah, it's a great track.
      Hard on brakes and cars.
Normally throws up a bit of drama.

Great race. Pity about the clash between Checo and Massa.

Good to see it confirmed for another 10 years.
One more circuit with character still left on the calendar.

Canada is one of my favourite circuits on the calender so couldn't be happier to hear they've extended the contract for another 10 years.

I feared for Massa yesterday watching his car heading for the tyre wall, so reminiscent of the accident that nearly killed him and it's good that he's ok.  There always seems to be spectacular accidents on this circuit, Kubica's somersault comes to mind.

Great race and really happy for Daniel on his first win.

Almighty crash from Kimi there involving Massa and a Caterham. Race has been stopped and delayed due to barrier repairs. Kimi seems to have injured himself in the collision though

has Hamilton lost the plot .He can blame nobody but himself for that cockup

Cock up indeed! He knows how much he did but he had a good start and will take to the restart in 4th place.

Lewis just proved that he needs a reliable car. Rodgers out with his first retirement.

      Lewis is a raw talent.

Leading the race & fully deserved.

      Football on the brain?

I think it shows that reliability could decide the title between Rosberg and Hamilton.
It's only 4 points gap now. Basically a DNF for either in the final race would decide it.

      Thought the race was great.
Glad Kimi and Massa are ok.
Massa did well to get the car sideways.

Thought it was a really good race. Some great battles especially from Fernando Alonso who was magnificent to watch today. Some beautiful racing from him today especially his defensive driving against Vettel.

Delighted for Lewis especially as it is at home. Deserved that bit of luck and got it. He was faultless. Nonetheless it would have been fascinating to see what he could do to Rosberg had his team mate continued racing on. I think he had the pace to beat him.
