How's about Billy Connolly and Eddie Izzard?

Agree with you on Billy Connolly. Never really watched Eddie.

Izzard is real quality. Just watch some clips on youtube. He's actually a big fan of BC and you can defo hear the influence.

My, all-time favourite half dozen; in order:

      George Carlin
      Richard Prior
      Billy Connolly
      Bill Hicks
      Ricky Gervais
      Frankie Boyle

      Bill Hicks! Great shout.
      Russell Howard is good, too.

He's got a really strange style when doing stand up I think - there's no real flow he just kinda fires them out on after the other!

I'm a big fan of that. I love his one liners, and it's sort of classic in the way that he tells proper jokes, as opposed to anecdotes and what have you. Mind I like the anecdotes as well.

Jackie Mason is one funny man, followed Billy Connolly from day one some of his shows have you litterally on the floor hystericall. Another very funny man though he's not an acknowledged comedian is Kevin Kline when he puts his funny head on he's a riot.

Well, that's OK. I can't be expected to read every page of these old threads. I mean, it's three pages long!

Yeah, bit of a mission that like. And it is actually about Comedians too. Something that's not really interesting I suppose.

To be honest I can't stand Russell Howard. Something about his stand-up style frustrates me, and I often find myself thinking that he's acting childish. Fair enough, he's trying to be funny so he needs to be a little bit silly, but I just really don't like him!

Wayne Brady, from US Who's Line Is It Anyway, does one of the best improv comedy shows, well the best IMO. He came to Australia and i bought my misses tickets as a surprise for her birthday in early May, she loves his stuff. And it really was brilliant, so quick he is with the improv and really interacts with the audience. Had tears in me eyes i was laughing so hard :D

Ross Noble > Wayne Brady. Fact. Way better improv comedian! But Brady is funny, i'll give him that.
