      Best Music Festival?
      Sep 02, 2009 04:07:02 pm
Just wondering what music festival people on here attend if any?

I was a regular at the vfestival for years, also been to Reading, T in the Park and this year we went to Latitude which was amazing. T in the Park was great too as opposed to V which is now probably my least favourite.

Just need to add Glasto  ;D

I visit Lowlands in the Netherlands every year, went a bit over a week ago too. Saw a bunch of cool performances like Them Crooked Vultures(surprise performance!), Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Eagles of Death Metal, Faith No More, The Prodigy, Fever Ray, Squarepusher and a bunch of others. Fab weekend that was!
Also went to Rock Werchter in Belgium earlier this summer. But I prefer Lowlands, it's a bit more alternative.

Unfortunately for me, Brazil doesn't have a big festival tradition, they come and go all the time... the best one recently was Tim Festival, but it wasnt too big and it's over now. I hope a new one comes to replace it.

The best one I've ever been to was Rock In Rio, but it's not something regular - the last one was in 2001 (and I was only 13 years old, thank God I have nice parents who let me go with my older brother ;D).

I always wanted to go to the Glastonbury festival.

I forgot about Dance Valley. Must be one of the best dance festivals in the world. It's really close to where I live, been going there for the past 12ish years or so. Was awesome this year as always.

I was at Leeds festival last weekend, which was good, it's mainly rock and indie music.
It was my first festival and won't be my last, it's such a good weekend.
Hoping to go Glasto or V next year, probably V though, getting tickets for Glasto will be even harder this year with it being 40th anniversary

I go to Wacken Open Air in Germany every year and a raft of other festivals around Europe when working for bands.

Exit Festival in Serbia this year was a good one though.

I'd love to go there! A load of my mates went and hired some rooms at a little hotel ten minutes drive away. Had an amazing time apparently.

I've only ever really been to Creamfields and V. Out of them two, V was the best.

Great timing this. I'm just back from The Electric Picnic (festival); my third and final festival this "Summer".

Down the years I've been lucky enough to have attended numerous festivals from "Trip To Tipp" to Bestival, from Isle Of Wight to Oxegen/Witnness and from Creamfields to Latitude. Way too many to list, in fact. I've always had great times, wonderful experiences and have met some great people.

The best, however, by a long, long way is Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Preforming Arts. To be honest, great and all as the others are, they don't even come close to GLASTO.

Nobody going to answer Kelvo?  :P

Thought I'd resurrect this thread instead of starting a new one.

I was just talking to a colleague about Rock Festivals we used to go to (Reading/Monsters of Rock) and we were saying how it was infinitely better when you could come back from the arena to the camping area and start up camp fires!
Nowadays, with all the health and safety bullshit you can rarely do that so you go back to your tent where it's cold and dark.

Just wanted to know what music festivals are about (preferably in Europe) where it's still quite relaxed and you can have a fire and socialise properly once the bands have finished?

It's not really the same, but I know that each campsite in Oxegen have designated BBQ areas that allow fires in there.

Would love to go to Glastonbury, been to Creamfields when it used to be held in Speke.

And would of loved to have gone to this year's Leeds festival if only to see the Black Keys and Foo Fighters.

I dunno about best music festival as I've never been before, but I'm hoping to get tickets to Soundwave 2013.
A rock festival is Australia, only problem is the more hardcore fans who only listen to metal.
Lineup this year is massive: Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink 182, A Perfect Circle, Offspring, Paramore, Anthrax, Sum41.. etc.
Being a mad Linkin Park fan I would go anyway, but it's a pretty epic lineup - just hoping that douchebag Metallica fans don't try and boo Linkin Park off to see Metallica....

Also wanting to go to Stereosonic which features Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Example (main reason I want to go), Avicii, Laidback Luke, Martin Solveig, Bingo Players, Foreign Beggers.
Only problem is going to both would set me back $360.. looks like Big Day Out will be getting a miss despite having RHCP and The Killers playing

Saw the lineup for that yesterday when Cancer Bats posted it on Facebook. I could tell purely by the strength of the lineup that it wouldn't be in the UK! Sigh...

I know what you mean about the Metallica fans, they bore the sh*t out of me with their "I'm more metal than you" attitude and I wouldn't be surprised to hear Linkin Park getting abuse from them (not that I'm a fan).
      Looks a great festival though:
      http://www.soundwavefestival.com/

      Highlights for me would be:
Vision of Disorder, A Perfect Circle, The Offspring (for nostalgia), Kyuss Lives, Flogging Molly, Kingdom of Sorrow, Cancer Bats, Blink-182, Madball and Miss May I.

Good few nice acts there. Have seen Calvin Harris DJ'n + singing, both brilliant. Saw Example once at a festival and I swear that his performance was the reason he broke in Ireland, was unreal. Met him aswell before a small gig before he broke. Puts on a good show alright.
