      Football Betting

I tried to search for such a thread but only found 'the off topic betting thread' which just mainly contained Horse Racing.

I've just threw a few bets on for the evening world cup games as an incentive to keep interested in them.

England, Spain, Greece, Czech Rep, Italy, France and Argentina to win - 15/1

Italy to beat Rep of Ireland 2-1  - 9/1

Sergio Aguero to score first goal in Argentina - Peru   - 5/1

England, Denmark, Serbia, Paraguay and Columbia to Draw - 448/1 (put £2 on this.)

had Ireland v Italy for a draw (even though I would have preferred if Italy had not equalised)
had a four timer of Czech Rep, Portugal, Serbia and Greece.

small bet on the S. American qualifiers but Ecuador messed it up.

How about a bet on us winning the league? Given everyone's thoughts / media reaction to the Chelsea game there must be long odds now?

Just put a scoreline bet on for Ireland v France.  Sorry for the Irish but gone 3-1 for France.

Anyway, you can throw loads of bets on and you get the stake returned if Jedward get knocked out of X-Factor this weekend! ;)

Apparently it's 5-1 on a draw tonight for the Manchester derby and 8-1 for a City win.

Considering putting like 2/3 quid on each - can you do that?

Betfair is betting against other people, I'll have a look now at Totesport and Ladbrokes for you.

Totesport and Ladbrokes have City at 9/2 and Draw at 11/4.

City to win 1-0 is 9/1

My personal choice is 2-2 draw at 14/1

Here is one for you from Ladbrokes (did it at the one in Lime Street Station)

Firstly, they were offering a free bet (it is actually free, no hidden costs or anything) to get 5 correct scores from 5 this weekend.

      I went for:

      Liverpool 3 - Bolton 0
      Birmingham 2 - Tottenham 0
      Fulham 1 - Villa 2
      Hull 2 - Wolves 2
      West Ham 1 - Blackburn 3

If that comes in its £5K :P

More realistically, I put a £ on City to beat United, Wigan to Beat Blackburn away, Sunderland to beat Everton at Goodison which is 81/1 (now at 125/1)

      Again Ladbrokes.

If I win 5K i'll donate a grand of it to the forum (cos am that nice ;))

Could do with this thread being more active!

Considering betting for the first time.

Only going to go with small amounts of money however.

I think at the moment I'll either put around £5-10 on 'safe bets' or £1 on an accumulator.

      Any tips etc?

Good time to do it may be this Thurs for the Europa League actually - just saw I could win around 30 odd quid for a £1 bet.

Or you could lose your pound. Don't do it to win money. Do it for the enjoyment. If you want to do it solely to make money, you're better off putting your pound on the lottery. The returns are infinitely more, and you've got about as much chance as if you do a fixed odds coupon! Like I said, betting on football should be with money you're not arsed about losing. Having said that I won £1.55 when Gerrard scored first the other week. I'm a brave gambler see.

Ha, yeah that's the reason I want to do it. Just to make a few bob here and there.

Suppose you end up losing more than you earn though eventually.

Also there's the risk you keep losing and so you keep betting in an attempt to make up for it.

Just thinking of putting £1 on a series of games now and then.

I do bets every weekend mate, I spend £5 and no more. I put 3 accumulators on (all with different amounts of teams involved.)

Do not do it for the need to win, as Gow said just do it for the fun of it and you will find it more nervous watching other fixtures and its weird how you support teams that you really shouldn't, all just so you don't waste £1.

Are you planning on betting online or going to a bookies?

I hate Southampton for a very strange,  betting related incident.  They beat Man United twice. On both occasions this screwed up my 2 from each section bet, the closest I've gotten to getting all 14 results right and twice the same fixture let me down.  Would have won a tad under £28,000 had both come in.  For that reason, I think I hate Southampton as much as a Pompey fan.

Considering 2 or 3 quid on:

      LIVERPOOL v Portsmouth 2/9
      ATLETICO MADRID v Osasuna 8/11
      Denizlispor v BESIKTAS 4/7
      METZ v Nantes 8/11

      2 quid gives a profit of £9.17, 3 quid gives a profit of £14.19.

      What do you reckon?

Annoying. Found out I've got a youth card which means I can't use this type of service currently.

Got a new card getting to me by Friday.

Got a question though - when you win or lose money - how does that then go into your bank account?

I went in and put 4 quid on lfc tonight vs pompey

2 quid on them to beat pompey anyway = return of 2.44 :(
2 quid on them to win 2-1 = 17.00 return

Okay so just so I can see how it all works I've placed my first bet on what you would call 'safe' matches.

£1.00 on Cluj, Wisla Krakow and Al Muharraq. Returns £5 odd.

Just wondering though - say I win. How do I then put the money into my bank account?

I'll take it this is online. There would have to be an option there somewhere. And sure why not just keep it there and bet on other things if it isn't a shed load of money.

Think I may start back on my 10 match accumulators again ;D

Nice one. Think it's under 'withdraw' where you select the amount of money you want to pay back into your bank account.

Al Muharraq won. Hoping on Cluj and Krakow.

      Cluj and Krakow bloody drew.

So, thinking about putting a quid on a few games tonight.

Maybe Newcastle, Barcelona, Dundee. Perhaps East Stirling.

      What do we reckon?

Newcastle win, Barcelona win, Dundee bet Ayr 2-1 at home.. reckon they'll draw though tonight, Albion beat Stirling 3-0 before this season, so I'd reckon a draw there too.

But then again I'm awful with accumulators :P
