Great read that HR, thanks for posting it.

Absolutely love The Wire and IMO, its the best TV show ever made.  Interesting to read about its origins and the experiences of most of the writers.  Also I didn't know that the guy who played Ray Cole was a producer and director on the show, and that he died in real life.  That explains the sudden death of Cole on the show and was a great way to pay homage to the man in real life with the wake in the Irish pub.

Certainly owe alot to HBO for picking The Wire up and keeping it going for 5 seasons.  They always make the best shows.  Keep an eye out for another one that may air this time next year, called A Game of Thrones.  Its being filmed in Belfast at the minute. ;)

Yeah, I'm currently working my way through season 5. My mate has the boxset so I've borrowed them for a while and its currently going to cost my degree. Can't tear myself away from it.

I think season 2 was interesting but not as good overall as the others but in general the show is F***ing amazing.

You know what, when I first watched The Wire I thought season 2 was the weakest.  Then after re-watching them again, I really enjoyed it and picked up on things I missed first time around.  I found a lot of stuff referred back to this season during the last 3 and it made me appreciate it more.  If I had to pick a favourite season, it'd be a hard choice between seasons 2 and 4.

I watched the first 6 or 7 episodes of The Wire and have never been more bored in front of a TV - at what point does it get better? I had just finished watching The Shield though so anything in that genre would pale in comparison I guess.

I was given the first series for my birthday back in June and have only over the last month started watching it.

Superb although it required a bit of patience and I have only got two episodes to go so looks like I am going to have go out and snap series 2 up although it seems I have just missed out as it has been on FX.

Dominic West is superb and I only found out he was actually from Sheffield after I done a bit of research after seeing him play Fred West in Appropriate Adult of which he was really, really good.

      Good stuff.
