It's still possible.

Bitter pill to swallow (again).

But as the old saying goes you have to take the medicine to get better. We'll come through stronger - starting Monday night.

ITV are ridiculous.

Blaming the draw on Torres being taken off.

He was walking around from about the 70th minute and had no goal threat.  Bringing on N'gog determined to impress was exactly the right decision to try and keep their defence from advancing too far forward.

Lyon won't want Liverpool in the latter stages

That's the issue now.

Lyon 'aren't going to be interested' now they've qualified.

Can't see them doing us any favours at all.

Why not? Won't matter because we can't get them in the next round anyway.

I heard something as such in the post match comments.

The commentator saying 5 minutes is nothing. It's enough time to have his f*cking leg snapped by a team fighting for an equaliser and desperate not to concede another.

And I also forgot Torres was playing centre half. He obviously would have prevented that goal. :Smiley F*cking sh*t ITV.

It's funny isn't it how people are so devastated at us now (potentially) not qualifying for the group stages.

I rememember the years and years of UEFA Cup 4th round knockouts or whatever.

Somebody want to remind me about our efforts in Europe in the 1990's?

Come on!!

Never hurts to take something positive from a c*nt of a situation!

It may not happen. But with us, there's probably just as much chance of us actually pulling it off!

Let me get this right.

We can qualify if
1- Fiorentina loses their last 2 games and we win both.
2 - If Fiorentina and Lyon draws, we have to beat Fiorentina 3-0 or at any score with a margin of at least 3 goals?

Wouldn't want you in the trenches next to me with that attitude mate. No doubt the odds are well and truly stacked against us but you just never know. And while you don't know, then it's a possibility. That's the reality.

Ohhh set me free....to be what I wanna be...heart as big as my home town...lay me down by water cool, heart as big as the city...heart as big as Liverpool...

Good uplifting song that Smiley

Could have been worse.

Instead of losing and drawing to the best team in France, we could have lost and drawn to Raki baki boom boom like Barcelona did.

We Will Never Forget the 96 YNWA

« Reply #170 on: November 04, 2009, 10:59:48 PM »

Tonight we were expected to go over there and roll over. 12 players out. A shocking run of form. Everyone against us.

But we went out there and did Liverpool FC proud tonight. We went out there and fought like it meant something to us.

Lyon started off well but we got at them and you could see they were shocked. They started hiding from the ball and from that point on, we controlled the game. They knew they were in a football match against Liverpool FC.

It was always a tall order to go there and win. And It could very well have been a win. But it wasn't to be at the end of the evening.

I hope people can take some positives out of this match. We need to keep our heads held high and keep our support as raptuous as it has been through this rough spell. It is what we need. It is what the team needs.

YNWA Redmen.

Top post CRK......sums up my feelings completely.

We are not dead and buried yet, going to be very hard yes, but it's not over yet.

Keep the faith people.

How about the pitiful away Strasbourg performance or the surrender in the first-leg against PSG for starters!!

I can see why Rafa had to take Torres off but I see the other side of it. It happened at Fulham and it happened again today. Torres comes off and the other side get a leg up for some reason. For some reason it puts an extra wind in their sails. They start attacking us more, knowing that if they get countered there's no Torres waiting to pounce.

I'm not blaming Rafa at all for taking Torres off, the man is clearly not fit and deffo needs a rest. I'm hoping he takes the Birmingham game off , then the International break off and hopefully comes back rested and firing on all cylinders.

 a) Theres only two games left, if Lyon beat Fiorentina, they'd still have 9 pts, hopefully we beat Debrecen then we'd only have to win against Fiorentina to qualify ahead of them by 1 point.

b) Yep.
