Liverpool v Charlton (Premiership) Match Thread

Here we go... a teary farewell to God today. The last home game of what has been, a disappointing season. In fact, if we hadn't made it to the Champions League final you could argue it has been a shocking season.

However, let's hope Fowler leads out the side and scores a goal on his last appearance at Anfield.

      Taken from .tv:

Kop legend Robbie Fowler will captain Liverpool against Charlton today in what will be his last game at what's sure to be an emotionally charged Anfield.
Fowler will leave the club when his contract expires in the summer, but Rafa Benitez has given him the chance to sign off from his adoring fans wearing the captain's armband and hopefully by scoring a goal.

Of course this might not be Fowler's last game because the Reds still have the Champions League Final to come, and Rafa has named a strong side as they warm up for that. Young Italian goalkeeper Daniele Padelli does make his debut in place of Pepe Reina though.

Liverpool - Padelli, Finnan, Arbeloa, Carragher, Agger, Riise, Zenden, Mascherano, Gerrard, Kuyt, Fowler. Subs - Martin, Hyypia, Kewell, Alonso, Crouch.

I'm hoping for a Fowler hat trick today. But one goal in front of The Kop for him would do me.
Bit of an emotional day, but we need to finish the league off with a win. Could have been worse, this seasons attack on the league. But then again, it really could have been better.

Interested to see how Padelli plays. Wondering if Kewell will got on and play more than twenty minutes, as well....
Let's get stuck in from the whistle!! 3-0 Liverpool win!

Harry Kewell scored the equaliser from the spot!!! First game back...

That goal ensured we finished 3rd, earning us an extra half a million?  Well done Harry.

      Liverpool 2-2 Charlton.

Sounds like Charlton gave us a game today. Still wish we could be more deadly. Oh well, summer spending to be done and a trip to Athens. Not too bad.

poor mascherano pass for the first, don't know what padelli was thinking for the second and two terrible misses from arbeloa.an absolute catalog of mistakes, not a good farewell for fowler the only positive is that harry kewell who lots of people have been slating seemed to super sharp great cross to play a part in the first goal and nice penalty

I don't think we need Kewell in Athens.
I wish Fowler had stayed on to take the pen - a last goal for LFC for him no doubt.

nicole, dont be silly, kewell in full flight is a great sight... remeber when we drawing agianst spurs at anfiel last year in the leaque the volly he hit to keep us in the champs leaque runnijng places everytime he gets fit he plays well it has to be a case of kewell proving he can play most of the season, if not iam with you that he needs to go becasue we cant keep paying 60k a week for a injury prone star........ but if kewell can sit on the bench for athens then hes better than bloody gonzalez,,,,, his crossing is better then zendens,,,,,,,, he also understands the team more has more experience than other wide players that we have,,,,,,,,,,,, rafa does like him better than other because he defends his defenders when we are being attacked......

Christ i hope we don't see milan have as many chances as charlton did as we'll get battered, should have lost really but we didn't, a good sign?, i hope so.
Cheers Fowler, here's hoping for one last goal.
