One of my friends has road rage at times, its really off putting being in the car with him.
I would stay calm, obviously have my say now and then but honestly I'd let things fly

I'm all for more questions and stricter driving tests. Anything we can do to make driving a less frustating and tense experience is a good thing. Generally when you are in the car don't you find yourself going nuts over other's lack of driving ability and awareness of others?

In fact I'm all for coppers being able to not just hand out tickets for driving infractions but also having the authority to force idiots to have to retake their tests on a regular basis.

ALSO.....and this is a beauty.....I would have a rule that all new drivers once they have passed their test are only allowed to drive 1.1 litre engine cars. That means a fiesta, kia, and so on. AND then they are not allowed to supe up the engines or do anything to it to increase its performance. They would keep the car for a year and would be allowed to get a different car if they showed due responsibility.

It may sound a little nuts but its better for society and better for the new driver. We as a society get more responsible drivers, safer roads and the new driver learns that the roads are not a race track but a place to show maturity.

They do it for motorbikes for 2 years so why not cars? Bit too obvious really!  ::)

Totally forgot that RED....you are right...its just makes too much sense for the government to actually implement something would actually help the country....

ALSO....this has been on my mind for ages and I've got to get on the old soapbox and get this out!

What our terribly depleted and failing country needs is a severe kick up the arse...from the Government to the peeps....What I would love is on day 1 of the next government term that they come on TV and address the nation and say.....

"Thanks for putting us in to office but we are going to be really unpopular over the next 5 years...so much so that you probably won't want to re elect us the next time you have a chance. We are going to restore this country to its some what former glories and generally improve it in all areas. We are going to crack down on gangs, truancy, healthcare, illegal immigrants, unemployment, lazy bas**rds who claim benifits for life, corporate greed and transportation. Its going to be tough but in 10 years we will be in a better place."

That would be awesome....no more politicians for life run by there ego and material desires but a return to someone wanting to improve their community......As JFK said "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you van do for your country"

PS....oh yeah and I hate people who tail gate.....

      Good first lesson today.

The instructor said I've picked up my footwork excellently considering it was the first lesson!  Only thing that needed some work was my steering!

Well made up though.  Pissed off a few cars behind because of my slowing down to change the gears ;)

But really enjoyed it!  No sign of Smiggs though.   :f_tongueincheek:

      It's me Dad's mate!  :D :D :D

Not being funny he's a really good instructor.  He doesn't waste time and notes down what we've done and what I've been successful at so that the next lesson he doesn't take 10 - 15 minutes wasting time asking me what we did the week before!

Was learning in a diesel.  So much easier!

Something you drivers out there might appreciate...
Ever wondered where the cheapest fuel is in your area?

This website gives you the answer for free. It also allows you to save 3 different locations for searches my example being: My home post code in South London, My Dad's postcode in Edge Hill and my sister's in North Wales. I was in Wales before New Year and found Unleaded for 99p a litre - not £1.06 as it is down here!

Find the lowest UK petrol price in your area!
9,763 petrol stations and 8,000 daily updates.

Simply enter a postcode (or town) below:
      eg. "L4 0TH" or "Anfield"

      http://www.petrolprices.com/

Your search for L4 0TH found 93 petrol stations within 10 miles.
Including your 2 closest stations: Anfield Service Station (Total), and Priory Garage (Texaco).

                                                       Unleaded    Diesel      LRP      Super      LPG
      The Highest price in this area:        106.9p   114.9p    111p       120.9p    50.9p
      The Average price in this area:      103.1p     108.3p   107.3p    111.1p   50.2p
      The Lowest price in this area:        100.9p    105.1p   103.1p    106.9p   49.9p

Might save you a few quid in the long run ;)

P.S. Well done with the driving Court, keep up the good work!

The most Northern part of North there is... if you go any further you end up in the sea! :D :D :D

It was actually in the town of LLandudno which is North / North West Wales on the coast. I knew the petrol was cheaper up there because of this website so I guesstimated my fuel consumption for the trip home to Liverpool but unfortunately didn't guess correctly. I had to stop at motorway services on the M6 and put 20 quid in at £1.07 a litre... OUCH!

Ironically after posting the info about this site I received an updated from the site and this is how it works...

Drove a crazy 150 miles back to Croydon from Leicestershire earlier today and it wasn't too pleasant - wind, rain, mist, spray and poor visibity... but fortunately no crashes to slow me down!

Two things annoyed me - I chose the wrong lane on the M1 where they are widening the motorway. The lane on the right disappeared into a contra-flow on the opposite side of the motorway and my lane was signposted for the M25 to Heathrow but it made no difference at all as the 3 lanes all merged back together before any slip roads appeared - 5 miles after being stuck behind articulated lorries and slow moving traffic! If there's a next time I'll use the contra-flow lane!

Why do people hog the outside lane of a motoway if they can't be arsed to drive properly?
I consider myself to be a "progressive" driver if you know what I mean ;) I don't hang about and am pretty safe with my spacial awareness and consideration of fellow road users. I pay a lot of money to run my car and know how and when to use the accelerator and brake so it annoys me no end when drivers loiter in the fast lane especially when the middle lane is free to pull in to!  :f_steam:
      Rant over! ::) ;)

      Are they having a laugh?

Got my car tax reminder today.

      £170 for a year.

      When did that shoot up?

Am I that much of a horrible person for driving a miserly 1.8 litre?

Come off it.  Not only are they raping me when I fill up but now through car tax as well.  I'd expect them to start putting a gold leaf layer on the roads for the price I'm paying now.
