Just a quick question. When the players lose faith in the owners of the club. How can the manager inspire them to a better playing level... and if they do think the club is on the slide in its current form are they now focused on the summer rather than saving the club

Faith in the owners should have f**k all to do with it. They're paid (ridiculously well) to play for Liverpool FC and do what the manager tells them. I'm sure many of them would like to see some big names come in and realise that it probably won't happen but I'm afraid there's several players who would be in the sh*t if we could bring in new faces!

Players are paid to play it should be none of there concern about the owners, particularly when they cross that white line to play a game representing Liverpool.
Our lads are getting paid no matter what is going on in the background yet they produce crap like that last night. Portsmouth players aren't getting paid are almost certain to be relegated but they fought with a spirit on Saturday to qualify for the cup semis.
Our owners shenanigans is a lame excuse for our players performances. How the 2 yanks interfere with a man passing the ball to his team mate is beyond me? Did they for example make Gerrard knock a simple pass with no pressure on him out for a throw?
Its time our players stood up and took some blame along with Rafa.

Personally I'd Inspire them with no 4th place finish, no World Cup so roll your sleeves up.

Sorry to say this, but I'm rapidly losing faith in the overpaid shower of cu*ts.
They really don't deserve our support.
They are going to owe us big time next season.

I dont think people are blaming the owners for the poor performances from some of the players but I think most of us agree that theres a handfull of our players that aren't good enough and its down to the owners to re-inforce the squad and back Rafa to replace these players and they aren't prepared to do this.
Its all well and good saying 'Yes but those players are the ones Rafa signed himself' Yes, that might be true, but for those who believe that every single signing made in football will be an instant success are living on a different planet. Rafa has never had budgets of 100m to spend on transfers and most the signings hes made have come from the sales hes been forced to make for other players anyway.
Last nights performance both Rafa and the players should take 50% of the blame. I don't think Rafa got the team right last night from the off, I wouldnt have played lucas and I wouldnt have played Maxi, but that might be down to I dont rate them personally. However, the team that was fielded should have been more than good enough to get a result and the lack of urgency or commitment was beyond embarassing. Rafa can't make those 11 players run, shoot, tackle, but it is a wonder why so many of those players aren't willing to do that.
Personally, I think the majority of players will have one eye on the WC. They probably think, ''well were out of the league, fa cup and the champions league, so im not going to risk injuring myself because I want to go to the WC finals''. They also probably want to be fresh as a daisy to play well for the countries so there not willing to put the work in.

I'm not trying to make excuses for the players. I'm merely racking my brains as to how they could have been so poor. Very few of the players out there last night would have run through a brick wall and come out fighting the other side for the club

If only the players showed that in last nights performence, they have no faith in themselves at the moment and by that they are opening the gates of critisism to rafa.He puts out a team that was good enough to beat wigan and they showed no bottle, its time the club introduced performance related pay.

"Owen out of the World Cup", "Ashley Cole should be fit for the World Cup", "Van Persie will play for The Netherlands this Summer". It's all about the World Cup this season. Players like Nando or Gerrard will be picked for the World Cup even if they play sh*t, because they are too good, so no reason for them to give everything they have, since we are performing very sh*t and there's only a few games left (2 of them are against scum and Chelsea) and our main rivals for the 4th spot have more games left to play (like Villa has played 2 or 3 games less than us). Looks like that they want to play in the World Cup more than in a Liverpool shirt, so they perform sh*t and the whole team is doing sh*t this season. And if this keeps going on, we will finish 6th or 7th.

Yesterdays loss was TOTALLY unacceptable, I lost my faith in God when I was 15 yrs old yet my faith in the team I grow up and still love while constantly raped by SH1T performances stands tall I wonder why must they test my sanity so. I have not read this tread (the topic spreed this post) or even care what it or any of you are really saying this morning, I'll be logging off and not returning till Thur because I feel like I've been stabbed in the heart then FCUKED in the heart hole.

where did all this talk of world cup come from? I don't see this happening in scum, chavs, shitteh, arse, villa and sperms.
I don't agree it has anything to do with world cup, the attitude and work rate from certain players have been awful ALL season, not just now.
torres does actually try every game but he's lacking in match fitness. mascha, reina and the big greek have been the only ones I have seen to be playing for the shirt every game.
can you really say likes of gerrard, carra, kuyt, maxi, lucas and co are all 'saving' themselves for the world cup? given some of these won't even play...

We have to have faith!!
We are the LFC fans- the 12th man!!!!
Champions league or not- Premier League title or not- F**k it- I would still support them if we got relegated!!
Its sh*te at the moment- Everything about our club is sh*te right now, I am so dissapointed more than angry or upset- dissapointed because I know we can do better, we have done better with almost the exact same team!!
I think its more dissapointing because of last season...

Well it's an interesting question that, because at the end of the day, the players are only human beings. And I thought it was inevitable that some day soon, what's going on off the pitch, is bound to effect the players' heads. Granted some of them probably aren't arsed what's going on and will quite happily go somewhere else. Other players will have ambition and if the manager isn't being backed in the transfer market, the players' faith in the clubs ambition is sure to dwindle.
And then when you think the World Cup is coming up this summer, some of our internationals could have a lot on their mind.
I think the only way the manager can inspire them is by making big changes in the team, formation and tactics now. Send a statement out to them before the end of the season.

Wearing a Liverbird upon your chest should make you feel proud. Surely hearing those 4,500 fans and the noise they were making last night should inspire you. Then a half time roasting from the manager should be the kick up the arse you need to get the adrenalin rushing.
Failing that a spell in the reserves for some of our big names would'nt go amiss. I'm sure players like Amoo, Ayala Pacheco, Kelly would seize the opportunity to get a crack in the first team, and let some of our bigger names - Reina, Torres & Masch- excepted play their football on a week night at Prenton Park. I doubt that Cappello will make the journey to watch that one

Evenly you're paid well, but it's disheartening to find whatever plan you manager had last season(2nd in the League) had to be thrown away due to lack of support.
Then one thing lead to another(Xabi saga, last minute cheap but injured replacement, lost on our 1st League game, injuries to LOADS of key players, a series of bad run-> I'm not including the beachball, silly errors or bad ref calls)....
Some last minute goal against us in CL... then we got kicked out of CL, League Cup then FA to Reading.
January brought some hope(not only to us but must have been to the players as well) but not significant BUYS. A free-transfer after we sold 2 players. Herpes announce that Summer will be big but Winter is no good time to buy.
At this point, we look shaky on paper (Benny, Torres, Gerrard, Johnson out due to injuries, while Riera, Agger, Aurelio either recovering or coming in& out). But we sailed through with 10 matches unbeaten run to sparked some hope and eased off the pressure on Rafa. Rafa promised 4th place as our form seemed to pick up and Key Players coming back from injuries.
Then, we lost to Arsenal and start nose-diving again with our Key Players look so frustrated, uninterested, demotivated.
Yes, Rafa had his short-comings(tactical & sub) during the course of 29-35 matches so far but the players were the ones who supposed to execute the game plan.
It's hard to be positive(yes the're paid well but the opposition players get paid well too) when you know your Manager is operating on his C-Plan instead of Plan B(let alone Plan A) because of the lack of support from the Boardroom. What make it worse is to play alongside his Plan C. I support Lucas but everyone knows he's not Rafa's 1st choice for CM, Rafa has said that Lucas is a stop-gap before Aquilani fully fits into the team. but he's also tied with the clause on Aquilani's contract where we have to pay 250K for every 35 matches that he play(not sure Play or Start)
It's easier for us because we only get to read whatever news from the papers/tv but players must have all type of information coming from left, right. center about the Boardroom, owners, financial situation via the office staff etc.... especially local lads like Gerrard and Carra.
They have the motivation for BIG MATCHES(trust me, they'll play like a man in possessed vs Manshite or Blueshite) as it involve some pride but on normal matches(Wigan.... beware of Portsmouth), things will turn into the same cycle. It happened before, no matter whoever Rafa picks as starting line-up.
The only type of FRESH change needed at this point is changing the OWNERS.... when they're gone, we gonna see a team(and the manager) with real motivation, capable of reaching its full potential.
+ Portsmouth are different because the owners f*cked the club by trying to improve the squad(operate beyond their financial means). They were buying players they couldn't afford and end up spending more than their getting. But everyone(including the players) knows that it's for the squad rather than for the Owners pocket/bank account or in actual words 'to service H&G loan'.

But it's just the whole money culture in football + our whole season = me just not enjoying goign the game at the moment.
The only enjoyment I'm getting is getting bevvied before and after and meeting up with some of the lads and lasses off here.
