The papers were literally up in arms silence.

Sky Sports News went in to overdrive a commercial break.

BBC Sport posted hourly updates a couple of letters.

But I guess, in the pathetic world of the anti-Liverpool media giants this is completely fine and acceptable.

The only difference between the two impacts is that Mascherano isn't a fanny whereas Brown is.

Have a look at 6 seconds as well.  Someone launches the ball at his head.

While the press normally do have an anti-Liverpool bias, I'm not too sure how much you can really read into this. Gerrard is Liverpool captain, he is England vice-captain, he is in a Liverpool side that is challenging for fourth spot, who have a massive game against Man u at the weekend. He got very lucky. He's very intentionally smashed his forearm into the back of michael browns head, he couldn't have had any excuses if he'd seen red, it was just totally unnecessary.

Dindane - Not a regular in a Portsmouth side who are not only going down but are in a dire financial situation. Nobody cares if Dindane gets 3 matches. They do if Gerrard does.

Plus and I think this is the important point, Dindane could at least suggest he was shielding the ball even if it was wild. Gerrard has no such excuse. I didn't see it at the game, but watching the highlights there's no doubt he intended to flatten brown. At 4-0, I think he should have shown some more professionalism.

Too right, Brian 78 that attempted tackle by scholes in   last week's AC Milan game- if you can call it that would have broken Flamini's ankle or leg- if he hadnt jumped out of the way
Yet Jim Beglin and Tydsley just laughed it off.
Brown was kicking lumps out of our player's all night, so in Stevie's defence he was provoked, I suspect he knows that he shouldnt have reacted. Anyway the matter will be forgotten about until Ferguson or Allardyce have a player in the Dock.

I spotted this last night, seems funny that is was barely mentioned afterwards, yet Gerrards elbow shove was front page news in the North Pole.  Roll Eyes

Don't agree at all with this, whilst I don't excuse Stevie for what he did, he'd been provoked by the sh*t bag commonly know as brown for a large amount of the game, he deliberately tried to block Gerrard's run towards goal, Gerrard was running very fast and I think it looked worse than it was. brown certainly made a meal of it.

Disgrace, just like the rest of his team. Will be glad to see the back of them from the Premiership.

Great post this is. Fair enough Gerrard was stupid to do what he did, but Dindane's wasn't much better. Funny how Craig Burley never had anything to say about that, the stupid f*ck.

I was pissing myself laughing at that bit just then. Wonder who it was.

As for the challenge, I do believe that 'football expert' Joe Royal passed it off as nothing other than a "hand off".

Question is? Did somebody deliberately try to kick the ball right at Mascherano's head as he lay on the floor  Undecided

It was probably a Liverpool player, trying to kick the ball towards where the free kick was.

Don't know how I forgot about that.

Gerrard's was worse, but that is still unacceptable.

But in the world of the media - who are they going to report on - Gerrard or Dindane?

Never saw that incident as I missed the last 5 minutes or so of the match.

The only thing evident here is that Mach is not so  much a fanny as brown.

Good spot that, JD. Typical media. Always about Liverpool being the bad ones. I mean, obviously Stevie's elbow may be worse but no one came out and said anything about Dindane?
