Only reason I can think why he didn't get it is because Brendan had every intention of selling him until Henderson's injury.

      Agree.

Got the feeling he'll survive Brendan.   ;D I mean how often was he writting off in the past?

Was looking a goner after Arsenal away if I'm honest.

Id have had him as Vice Captain instead of Milner.

I'd have him Captain instead of Henderson.

Same to be honest, but it's obvious Henderson was always going to be the choice.

Too right....unsung hero is Lucas, he's the type of player you want in your team, does a lot of the dirty work that often goes unnoticed, but you miss him when he's not there, his stats last weekend against Villa were the best of any Premiership player. He certainly should have been made Vice Captain for me.

Wonderful player when he's fit. I must admit, I pride myself on applauding the work the non-flashy, hard-working players do, but until I saw a clip of his touches in the Villa game on here somewhere, I hadn't realised just how effective he is, at his best. Wish he could add a few arrive-late, edge of the box thunderbolt goals to repertoire, though. Defo captain /vice captain material.

Out of all the mistakes made by Rodgers this was one of the worst.lucus is with out doubt the unspoken star in the squad how on earth the BR never seen it is Beyond me his reading of the game  is immense his passing is underrated good decision-making.if emre can could benefit by learning from the guys game also IMHO The squad seems more balanced with him in it and I would have over millner all day

Could Klopp's 'full throttle' approach spell the end for Lucas?

I don't think so mate.  The way Klopp sets up his teams, the play is so condensced that Lucas should have far less space to cover and a lot less running to do.  His 2 midfielders rarely move from their "zones" as the 3 AMs, the striker and the 2 fullbacks do all the attacking.

That's what I'm hoping Debs. All the 'run run run' talk has me worried though.

They don't all run though mate, the workload is shared around the team with certain players, the 2 fbs and the 3 ams doing the vast majority of it.

For Lucas. It's called context, try to find it especially when it's quite literally quoted for you.

That's what I'm hoping Debs. He's been so good for us lately it would be a shame to see him lose his place.

Thing is though Mags, if all the players start with a clean slate that includes those who were playing well and personal favourites.

I'm hoping that means he's looking for which players supply him with the best attributes he needs for their position, making us as strong as possible all over the pitch, rather than pick those who were playing well before then try and fit the rest in somehow.

I want round pegs, in round holes for once and if that means some of our previous regulars don't make the starting 11 but it makes the team stronger then so be it.

Don't worry, I have it on very good authority that Klopp is considering sticking these on Lucas' feet:

Like Rafa's teams, with one of the deep midfielders venturing further forwards as the opposition are pressed back, assuming he (Klopp) sticks to his 4231 system.

He did. Looked knackered after 20mins but seemed to just carry on. Did a fair bit of talking to Klopp at the end too ... Klopp could hardly get a word in.

It was good to see him so animated with him mate.  He's an intelligent player who looked invigorated and enthusiastic talking to him, I think Jürgen will like what he brings to the squad if he can keep the levels up.
