those of us who have always rated Lucas have done so because he does his work quietly without fuss and once he gets a few games under his belt his timing is perfect. Never heard him complain or be in the media for anything other than football he is the  model player he must be a joy to manage.

I hope he stays the likes of Can could learn a lot from him .

I would think Lucas is the perfect Klopp player. Will run himself into the ground and pressing/interceptions/tackling are his strong points.

It's his speed that's the problem.
Always has been, although he improved his positioning a lot and that somewhat covered up his lack of speed.
Best DM we have by a country mile though.

The Reds boss is keen to retain Lucas’ services. Klopp blocked a potential transfer to Galatasaray for the Brazilian midfielder earlier this month after insisting he needed him to stay put.

Unless Lucas pushes for a move prior to next week’s deadline then he will remain at Anfield for the final year of his existing contract.

I'm guessing Lucas was unhappy with this part? It does suggest Lucas was pushing for a move, but with him coming out and saying what he said, I assume it wasn't him looking for another club, but the committee/Klopp pushing for it? And now, seeing the state of our midfield, maybe Klopp decided to do a Hodgson and Rodgers (U-turn)?

If that is true, then I want some of what hes smoking on that Brazilian farm of his during pre season .

I like Lucas, want him to stay but he won't get 5 years from us with his age and injury record of late.

Be lucky to get any longer than a 2 year contract, can't see many teams going above 3.

Glad Lucas is staying, although hoping for a five year contract, would be over ambitious at his age.

I thought he played very well yesterday despite the obvious mistake. I don't think anyone needed to point it out to him, and the way he just let it go and got on with his game is commendable. Certainly not disappointed to still have him around as an option when needed.

Barring the mistake Lucas was fantastic, his passing from back into midfield was perfect...

where did this come from because it doesn't sound like the sort of thing he would ask for.

Trying to find the clip but he was hilarious in the after match celebrations.

Dressed up in a suit and someone asked him how he felt about it and he says " That was my first assist in 10 years".

Apart from that mistake, he was F***ing awesome. Superb passing and positional play.

To be fair to Lucas as well, 50% of the blame for that goal goes to Mignolet as well for passing it short to him when there was absolutely no reason to.

Shows the mood in the camp if he is saying that - however, had we drawn the game I doubt he would have...

Apart from the mistake that lead to vardys goal he had a good game , mignolet had a big part to play in that goal , I've never seen such F**k acting from a keeper to square the ball across to Lucas like that was insanity

I've always said that.
He had a torrid time  from a contingent of fans during Rafa's tenure .. couldnt understand why.

Hes no Mascherano  but he is a Mascher Lite .   

When told to play DM there is no one in the squad to touch him.

Always pleased to see him in the starting line up.

I think his short passing is absolute exceptional, and has been for so many seasons. So precise and quick, but it's his decision making by picking out the right players more often than not that sets him apart.

Lucas: I'm surprised people are being quite so negative about him to be honest. Yes he wasn't good when the wheels fell off, but to my mind he was as good as you could expect before that. 6/10.

I agree with this, I also thought he was the only player from deep out of Hendo and Lovren to consistently look for the more positive option rather than the safe one.
