Liverpool FC owners seek naming partner for potential new stadium
      Jun 10, 2007 07:05:39 pm
We know that Gillett has said that it would be considered if it paid for 'one big signing a season'.

      Thoughts on this.

I believe the biggest Stadium naming rights in the World is the Reliant stadium, home of Houston Texans at $300 million for 30 years. One of our owners was involved in the deal that sealed the American Airlines Centre for the Dallas Stars at $195 million for 30 years.

The Arsenal 'Emirates' stadium is somewhat complicated.

The airline set up the deal with the club in 2006 for 15 years.  Now the first 8 years will include shirt/club sponsorship and Arsenal get £9 million a year.  Then for the last 7 years they will get £18 million over that time frame.  The total deal is worth £90 million, but if you separate the shirt sponsorship then it looks like they are getting around £2.5 milion a year for the naming rights to their stadium.

Valencia are currently touting out their stadium naming rights to their sponsor Toyota.  They are seeking around £6.5 million a year for 15 years for the naming rights to their Mestella stadium.

Liverpool by comparison receive £7.5 million a year for their shirt sponsorship deal with Carlsberg.  Carlsberg wanted to make this a five year deal but Liverpool refused  and signed a three year deal. The reason? The reds wanted to move in to their new stadium without previous sponsorship obligations.

      Now, I wonder why??  ::)

You've got a highly valid point there Jabba! I can see LG still for some reason! They were being bandied about when we thought Carlsberg were off and can still imagine us having LG on the front of our shirt so the LG Stadium wouldn't sound to bad either!  8)

IT'd still be Anfield or Stanley Park to us though ;)

Either way, under the terms of the new ban on putting beer sponsors on kids sized shirts, I pretty much conclude that in 2010, after 21 years of sponsoring us - Carlsberg will have to be replaced as the club sponsor.

it doesn't matter what its called and if we get good money for it why not,we will still call it what we want its not as if they are trying to rename anfield if we are going to move with times we may as well go whole hog

Quite an interesting thread this.  Maybe it may be called the Carlsberg Arena?  That would be my best guess.

I don't see anything wrong with the name Stanley Park.  But sponsorships earn us more money.  I think we are going to have to sit on the fence with this one.

Seeing the plans for the new-look design may be released later this month.  I hope I am not disappointed for one.

There's been no mention of it from the new owners, but I can see many offers flying in when the stadium plans are released!

With the revelations from the papers at the weekend about it going to be the biggest in Britain, you can imagine a few big time companies licking their lips in anticipation!  :D

Carlsberg Arena? Adidas Arena? Please not!
I dont like all those "Arena" Names....cause its football! Not Bullfight or something like that..

I would prefer "Carlsberg Stadium" or something with "Park" in the end :)

Its inevitable that we will get a sponser as our name to help pay for the stadium id say it will be the Carlsberg stadium, then they can use the slogan "carlsberg dont do football stadiums, but if they did........"

But surely if they sponsor it they won't be able to say that they don't do football stadiums?

PMSL Eddie what about calling it "The Kop Ground" although we won't get a big sponsorship deal on it, at least people will know what we're about and I believe that's more important.  Then we could just have a "Sponsored by.... ;D
