And whilst we're at it lets change the club name to Liverpool Reds, and relocate to Milton Keynes.

After the amount of money that Arsenal got for naming the Emirates, there is no doubt in the world that ours will have some sort of naming rights attached to it.......and for a lot more money than the Gooners got too!!!

Championship Manager call it New Anfield when it gets built on there though.

In amongst the amusing ideas, there is a serious point. I, for one, would not like to see the new stadium with a name on it that is, shall we say, "ethically challenged".

Who said Coca-cola? No way! See here for why not.

      Similarly with Nestle. See this.

The Co-op Bank has a very successful ethical policy. Whilst turning away millions, it still makes money from investing ethically. Simon Williams, director of corporate affairs, said: “While our ethical stance clearly leads to lost business, the customer value analysis shows that it has a very positive impact on our overall profits.”

Nice idea Jammydodger, but going by Hick's previous record especially I don't see them being very concerned about the ethics of any potential sponsor.

Anyway, I think it should be called The Crown Paints Stadium :D

      :)  Warrr, and not the Hitachi Digital, Multi-media, all-purpose, anti-tank, anti-virus, anti-static, anti-magnetic Complex?

By the way, will there be a decent clock? I think we should have a giant cuckoo-clock, except with a Liverbird coming out? Whaddyathink?

Seriously, tho, 'fanpower'. Make 'em listen. They usually do...

Hands down - that is without a shadow of a doubt the best idea for a feature for our new stadium I have heard.

The American's would love having to build something like that.

I hope Tom and George are reading this and saying 'I want to see new blueprints with a giant Liverbird clock on my desk at 9am.' ;)

we should start a collection as fans and buy the rights to call it ANFIELD

Not new Anfield or stanley park stadium just Anfield

If all Liverpool fans around the world donated a score wed well be able to buy the naming rights

absolutely  not, the stadium will be in Anfield so its
'fans name' should remain Anfield regardless of what its 'corperate name' is. I think we should combine both e.g
      Carlsberg Stadium ANFIELD
this way the suits are happy and so are the fans. also, if for example carlsberg or LG electronics do end up with the naming rights then during champions league broadcasts on tv the 'corperate name' could not be used because of advertising conflicts. in this  instance the club PR  people should insist that the stadium is refered to as ANFIELD in the media. witness the lame 'Arsenal stadium' as the emirates was called on itv recentlly
one more thing, I really hope we don't get our pants pulled down over the price of the naming rights like the arse did, their numbers might initially look impressive but add the fact that the 15 year deal also includes 8 years shirt sponsorship too then I think that's sh*te!!
. we should be looking for 8-10 million a year minimum for stadium naming rights, and the same for the shirt sponsorship(in a separate deal with a different company if needs be)
im usure of what happens after any sponsorship deal expires but the stadium should then revert soley to ANFIELD  amen

Does it? Hmmm... The Stadium With No Name... (cue Ennio Morricone music)...

Torres: "Well, if there's gonna be any shooting, I gotta get my rest."
Gerrard: "When you have to shoot.... shoot, don't talk."
Riise: "You're forgetting one thing, I was shooting at your hat."
Gerrard (to opposition Captain): "I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. See, my mule  mate Carra don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it . . ."
Alonso (to Sissoko): "Get three coffins ready." (looks again and sees the opposition are playing 4-4-2) My mistake. Four coffins."

The new stadium shouldn't be called Anfield.

Anfield is a special stadium with a lot of history so to call the new stadium Anfield in my opinion is just not fair but don't know who its unfair to!

Maybe we should just call it Stanley Park or something like that! Better than the Samsung Arena

It's still going to be in Anfield.

And as far as I'm concerned, Anfield is the only possible name for it.

I thought I read somewhere that "Anfield" was definitely going to be part of the name, whether it be "New..." or with a sponsor's name. Is that not so?

Whatever "they, whoever they might be" call it any fan with a passion for Liverpool and it's roots will ultimately call our new stadium Anfield. To differentiate between the 2 grounds the context will obviously denote which place is being referred to. I guess, and with good reason, the word New will be used to talk / write about the new (told you!) stadium.

If sponsors want to splash their names all over the place and it helps the club rake a few more quid in for transfers then it might not be a bad thing. The only problem there would be if supporters would feel comfortable with the actual sponsor.

The BBC would obviously have a problem mentioning sponsor's names as it is against their policies.
It has also been brought to light that it's bad advertising to have alcohol advertised on youth's replica kits. Fair comment.

To summarize - Liverpool and Anfield are a synonymous brand and it should remain that way.
The "This is Anfield" sign above the tunnel should be reinstated at the new stadium in exactly the same place before the players run out on to the pitch. It would be a reflection of the rich history that went before and a look towards new horizons and new dreams.
Roots are roots even when they are transplanted.
The romantic in me believes Anfield is the spiritual home of Liverpool, same postcode L4 - L4 LFC.

Agreed! Probably in the same manner that Man City fans often call their stadium Eastlands!
