It's obvious from my Top 10 films that I'm a big fan of westerns. So now I'll try to pick my Top 10 films from that genre.

      Top 10 Western Films
      1. The good, the bad & the ugly
      2. High noon
      3. Once upon a time in the west
      4. Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
      5. Unforgiven
      6. The Wild Bunch
      7. High Plans Drifter
      8. The Searchers
      9. The Outlaw Josey Wales
      10. A Fistful of Dollars

I was wondering wheter The Treasure of the Sierra Madre could be considered a western or not, cause it's an amazing film. It was also difficult to choose between A Fistful of Dollars and For a few Dollars More, not to mention leaving Django out of the list.

EDIT: sh*t, I forgot The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Matt, our tastes in films and tv are ridiculously alike. I still haven't watched the finale, btw, thus I haven't weighed in in that thread (absolutely no time), but I'm wondering (without spoiling it for me), was your Top 5 Lost characters influenced by the finale or would that have been pretty much it all along?

@ Diego, have you seen 'The Good, the Bad, the Weird' yet? It's a bit style over substance that one, but enjoyable western nonetheless.

Dexter, what's Requiem for a Dream like? Is that your favourite film of all time?

I've just read up on it. It sounds really disturbing.
It's at times quite a disturbing movie, very dramatic, but it's very very good. Based on a novel actually. I own the movie, yet I haven't seen it that many times because it's not an easy movie to watch. It follows the life of a guy, his mother, his girlfriend and a friend and how their lives spiral into doom. After watching it for the first time it was stuck in my head for quite a while. The orgy scene you're referring to isn't that bad however, and it certainly isn't the worst scene in the movie. Here's the trailer.

Is it my favourite movie? That's a very hard question, but I think so. Requiem for a Dream isn't the kind of movie I love to watch frequently. But for me at the time it came out it was a movie that changed how I looked at movies, in that way it's been the best movie I've seen. Before that movies were mostly just entertainment to me. I still enjoy easy going entertaining movies at times, but the movies that really touch me and I can admire for the workmanship are mostly more original movies and movies with some substance and depth. And I think Darren Aronofsky is an extremely talented director.

That said, I never really recommend Requiem to people, because I know it's a hard movie to enjoy. Have you seen Garden State though Ross? Also in my top 10, that's a movie I would recommend to you. Touched me as well, could really relate to the main character when that movie came out somehow, it really stuck with me, but at the same time it's easy going and feel good. Brilliant first movie for Zach Braff as a director.

No, but now I want to! :D

      Film Top 10:

      1. Requiem for a Dream
      2. Fight Club
      3. The Pianist
      4. Oldboy
      5. The Sting
      6. Papillon
      7. Garden State
      8. Das Leben der Anderen
      9. Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
      10. North by Northwest

Have you ever read the book (Papillon)? I know it will sound cliché, but the book is so much better. It's a great film (couldnt be bad with Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen), but the book is probably the best I ever read. Such a fantastic life story, with so many details that the film ignore - and it couldnt be different, or else it would need to be 20 hours long.

Haven't no, I forgot it was based on a book, put it on my book list now, sounds awesome!
Just noticed you have There Will Be Blood in your list, was actually strongly considering that one for mine too. Daniel Day-Lewis' performance in that movie might just be the best I've ever seen, incredible.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Daniel Day-Lewis. Another film with him that I love is In the Name of the Father. Also, it made me realise it should of been There Will Be Blood in front of Mystic River on my Top 10, as I usually say that TWBB is my favourite film from the 00's.
