Because I just wanted him to concentrate on training and coaching his team.
For me it was because I knew the mitigating circumstances behind his fall from 2nd, the season before, to 7th.
Yeah, sure, the arguments where there against him staying too: that...
* By finishing 7th he'd taken this squad as far as he could.
* He'd lost the dressing room [remember Stevie's look at him when he subbed Torres?].
* He'd made strange substitutions when we needed to win [remember when he subbed Torres and the look Stevie gave him?]
* Poor transfers [replacing quality with a clusterfuck].
* Poor transfer record [£230m spent on 76 players - instead of using it to buy less players of a higher quality].
* After buying a clusterfuck he refused to play him.
Wow.. that all sounds so familiar - I hadn't realised.
Yet still... I wanted the man to stay - here's why in proper depth and with valid reasons:
* The financial constraints placed on him by owners.
* Losing a quality player.
* The clusterfuck not being up to scratch.
* Injuries.
* Opponents building on success and strengthening weaknesses (from the previous season) with quality; when we didn't due to the financial constraints placed on him by owners.
* That he, like everyone, should be given the chance to rectify any mistakes.
So... where were we?... Ah yes... PastorGeek suggesting that there may be hypocrisy afoot.
