High Fidelity's my favourite Nick Hornby book! I can relate to it so well, being a music geek myself.

The thoughts and feelings are spot on at parts.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through now. I may even finish it tonight actually.

Which I believe is Hornby's strength! There's always those moments where you feel like he's seen the insides of your mind before.

Not strictly read it yet but '43 Years With The Same Bird' by Brian Reade is an epic read. Started it yesterday and I'm halfway through already.

Must say the part about Shankly was a tear-jerker (for me anyways) and me Dad said the part about Hillsborough had him in tears too. A must read, I assure you all. :)

I've also not long finished High Fidelity and loved it . Then I watched the dvd , I reckon the fillum did the book justice too ;)

Now I'm readin a book called "50 world issues you were afraid to ask about" , very interesting stuff indeed . all about world issues/politics etc. but it is written in a language that even a simple gooner can understand . might be a bit too highbrow for you lot though ;)

      I'll let myself out shall I ?

I've never read any of his work. I'll have to plan to read something next summer. Let us know how it is, Ross.

I intended to read 'American Psycho' or 'Less Than Zero' first, but I managed to pick this up for only £3 at a local bookshop.

I'm a couple of chapters into this one, and it's really really interesting. And this is supposedly not one of his best!

I've been looking around lately for the cheapest retailer of books and so far the best I've found is Amazon - charging around £4.90.

Anybody know of any really cheap book shops? (Online ones).

American Psycho is fantastic, very twisted and violent however.

Don't know if it would suit you, but half.com have low-priced books. You could also just go with the "New & used" option on Amazon. . In my experience, I've always gotten what I pay for, ie the seller has never said it's "like new" and then sent a crap copy of a book. Honestly, if you can find a good copy of a used book, you'd be a fool to pay full price for a new copy.

I don't know why, but I always thought HMV just sold music related books.

I was very wrong. Picked up 4 things I wanted to read yesterday for really cheap!

Same with me, the sellers were always very honest in all my buys there, some even better than I expected. Dalglish's autobiography was described "good" condition, but it was like new.

There are some very good books for very low price there, the most expensive thing for me aren't the books most of the time, but the shipment cost (£7 for South America)

I know what you're saying mate. It was difficult to hold the tears in the metro, when I was reading the chapter about Hillsborough. And I'm not even a Scouser, I imagine it's probably even more meaningfull to someone from the city too. Amazing read the whole book, Brian Reade not only describe facts very well, but also have some great insights about LFC. Absolutely loved it.

The other day in HMV I picked up:

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
      No Country for Old Men
      Fight Club
      Ricky Gervais presents Karl Pilkington

£12. Thought that was a bargain.

I'm planning to buy a few books on amazon now, anyone knows if I have any discount if I buy all of them from the same seller? Or will I have to pay £7 for each book anyway?

Do you have some kind of Amazon discount/gift card?

If so, I'd imagine that it'd only work if you bought the products directly through Amazon and not through the other people that sell through Amazon.
