Favourite Movie Characters

There have been many iconic and great movie characters over the years but who are your favourites.

Just watching a clip of Sexy Beast reminded me of one of mine:

Don Logan.

A great film that is made even better by Ben Kingsley's portrayal of this vile gangster out to get Gal to do one last job. The character is brilliant but Kingsley lifts him to another level and deserved at least an Oscar nomination for the role.

Get Carter (1971) - You're a big man ..

Ben Kingsley's a legend in whatever role he plays.

Jeremy Davies's character in Saving Private Ryan is a good one. Depicting the fear one could experience in war. Incredibly human.

Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. I know he's originally a book character, but...

Jim Carey makes me laugh no matter what he's in 

Red (Morgan Freeman) and Andy (Tim Robbins) from The Shawshank Redemption.  I could watch these 2 actors over and over again in this - their friendship throughout the film led to IMO the greatest moment in movie history.  Best film ever!

Also Jack Nicholson - well pretty much every character he plays in every film he's in, but especially McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.  The way he changes the lives of every other patient in that asylum is so uplifting and heart-warming.  Some of the antics he gets up to with the patients are hilarious as well. Second best film ever

Great shout's on Kint and Bateman. Two of my favourite characters as well.

Another and one of most recent iconic characters was Heath Ledger's Joker. This is another character which looked excellent on script but it was only Heath's imagination brought him to life.

Excellent character in a brilliant movie.

James Franco playing the hippy stoner Saul Silver in Pineapple Express.

Danny McBride was also funny as Red in the same film but that could be because he reminded me so much of a mate of mine,
