Did I dream it or did they play for LFC?
      Feb 20, 2011 05:04:38 pm
I was watching LFCtv last night and it had on an interview with David Speedie.

Just got me thinking, that must of been one of the strangest signings in our history (King Kennys last before resigining in 1991). He had reputation as a fiery character and was 30 years old when we singed him from Coventry. He had a decent record for us (14 games - 6 goals) including a goal vs United on his debut at OT and two vs the Bitters at Anfield but was sold on by the end of the year to Blackburn and Kenny once again.

Another one that sprung to mind was goalkeeper Paul Jones, who at 38 was signed by Houllier in 94 due to injuries to Kirkland and Dudek and become the oldest player to represent the club since world war two.

Im sure there are loads more, not always bad players just a bit weird to think of them in a reds shirt???

Paul Jones signed by Houllier in 94? As in 1994? I'm sure it was much later after that ;)

Anyways, back on topic, I can't believe players like Bruno Cheyrou (other than his Chelsea goal in 2004), El Hadji Diouf, Antonio Nunez, Jan Kromkamp, Andriy Voronin and Josemi were Liverpool players!

El Hadji Diouf, a player that embarrasses me to be linked with the club. I wish Scott Brown twatted him a few weeks ago when he had the chance in the Old Firm.

Michael Thomas is another, even scored a FA cup final goal for us but it was surreal seeing him in a Reds shirt after "that" goal.  :(

Fernando Morientes. Meant to be the bargain of the century, so excited about him coming in - he gets here hardly plays and is invisible in games when he does. Disappears to Valencia and soon after becomes a hero again :(

Diao is an obvious one, but another that some may not agree with is Milan Baros.

He was a decent player, but I never really rated him that much signed him from some obscure club and he scored about 1 in every 3 or 4 games.

However, he did pretty much lead the line in all the games on the way to Istanbul and he did seem like a decent guy, but that was a signing that never really made sense for me.

And yet supports us more now than Arsenal, was even in Istanbul as my brother bumped into him in that tent part over the road from the airport.

I'm going to say Julian Dicks - and to think Souness got rid of Burrows and Mike Marsh for that fat c**t.

However, he did pretty much lead the line in all the games on the way to Istanbul and he did seem like a decent guy, but that was a signing that never really made sense for me.

Was bought the same day as we loaned Anelka, to be honest he was alright when he first broke into the first team, I just don't think he improved as a player

Remember seeing him from the Kop vs the Scum at Anfield, thought someone had given one of the stewards a kit and told him to play left back.

Some might have forgot this guy but Jean Michel Ferri.

Blink and you would have missed him never mind dreaming he played for us.

He shattered me that night in May but I thought Michael Thomas did OK for us and always seems to talk well of the club anytime I've seen him.

Pennant and Diouf. All I hate about modern day footballers. Completely at odds with what I expect from a Liverpool player

Ferri's only impact for us was singling Ince out as a bad influence to Houllier and letting Ged know he was the c**t selling us out to the NOTW.

As for Thomas, always felt sorry for him in 1996, him and John Barnes put together a good partnership in the run that saw us nearly challenge for the league that year and he was dropped the minute Redknapp got fit.
