Might as well start a thread about this but it's kinda similar to the Hans Zimmer thread since all his music are epic.

Other than Clint Mansell's Lux Aeterna and such, what other epic music moves you?

I've posted some Pirates of the Caribbean and Modern Warfare 2 music by Hans Zimmer but this also deserves a mention!

Love Lux Aeterna! Maybe over used by Lord of The Rings, Sky Sports News, general advertising etc. but still it just defines the epic genre!

I know Dexter for one will agree with me on this but for me Sigur Ros produce some of the most epic music today.

      Enjoy!

Epic? Well, then I think Led Zeppelin just should own this thread then :D

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven Live (HD)

Led Zeppelin - Kashmir live in Seattle 7/17/77

Everyone remembers the first time they heard stairway to heaven. I have better memories of that than when I lost my virginity.

Probably cos the song lasted much longer than that time ;) :D

Quite obviously, Star Wars Episodes IV - VI could fill a thread, but if I can say one thing for Episode I, it's this...

I love the music from the series Game Of Thrones. Epic series, epic music.

      The theme song:

Game Of Thrones "Official" Show Open (HBO)

And this is the music used for the final scene of the first season. The scene itself is really epic, and the music fits perfectly:

Holst's Mars sounds like the music the aliens play when they come to exterminate us. Audio Networks' Mars* sounds like the music the good guys are playing to rally the troops.  :D

*and I read the comments under the video. I agree with them: it sounds like a blatant ripoff of Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell

Hahahha you are not wrong about the Mars songs by Holst and Audionetwork.

Yeah, I guess if you just listen to the music without knowing who composed it beforehand, you'd assume it's a Clint Mansell song.

Was doing a run through of films I hadn't seen and felt I must in recent days and this was one of the films. I heard/read someone call it a full on sensory experience and it is absolutely that - excellent stuff. Danny Boyle's most technically impressive film.

Another film I watched in that bucket list was Local Hero. My dad and my brother abide by its greatness and after a further bit of prompting I finally caved. I absolutely adored it and I can see why so many have taken it to heart as one of their favourites. Mark Knopfler's score must be amongst the most beautiful and fitting put to a big screen feature. Subtle, melancholy and heartfelt - just like the film. Struggle to think of a more perfect alignment of picture and score.
