Pulp sorted for e's and whizz, you'd readily identify with the lyrics if you were a 1990's raver.

      Pulp - Sorted For E's & Wizz

Oh is this the way they say the future's meant to feel?
Or just 20,000 people standing in a field.
And I don't quite understand just what this feeling is.
But that's okay cos we're all sorted out for E's and wizz.
And tell me when the spaceship lands cos all this has just got to mean something.

In the middle of the night,
      it feels alright,
      but then tommorow morning.
      Oh then you come down.

Oh yeah the pirate radio told us what was going down.
Got the tickets from some fu**ed up bloke in Camden Town.
Oh and no-one seems to know exactly where it is.
But that's okay cos we're all sorted out for E's and wizz.
At 4 o'clock the normal world seems very, very, very far away.
      Alright.

In the middle of the night,
      it feels alright,
      but then tommorow morning.
      Oh then you come down.

      Just keep on moving...
      Everybody asks your name,
they say we're all the same and it's "nice one,"
      "geezer"
but that's as far as the conversation went.
I lost my friends, I dance alone,
      it's six o'clock, I wanna go home.
But it's "no way," "not today,"
makes you wonder what it meant.
And this hollow feeling grows and grows and grows and grows,
and you want to phone your mother and say,
"Mother, I can never come home again,
cos I seem to have left an important part of my brain somewhere,
somewhere in a field in Hampshire."
      Alright.

In the middle of the night,
      it feels alright,
      but then tommorow morning.
      Oh then you come down.

What if you never come down?

Never heard that Levellers one before Redblood. Very good lyric.

The Levellers are very good lyrically mate, could easily stick 20 30 of their songs in here.

I love the last verses of Paul Simon's Graceland.

There is a girl from New York city
Who calls herself the human trampoline
And sometimes when I'm falling, flying
Or tumbling in turmoil I say
Oh, this is what she means
She means we're bouncing into Graceland
      And I see losing love
Is like a window in your heart
      Everybody sees your blown apart
      Everybody sees the wind blow.

      In Graceland, in Graceland
      I'm going to Graceland
      For reasons I cannot explain
There's some part of me wants to see
      Graceland
And I maybe obliged to defend
      Every love, every ending
Or maybe there's no obligations now
Maybe I've a reason to believe
      We all will be received
      In Graceland.

The Masterplan by Oasis is an immense choice. What a tune. Possibly the greatest B side of all time! Continuing the 'Noel Gallagher is a great lyricist' theme on here I will have to put up Rockin Chair. Such a sad song which if you read about the lyrics is clearly about the violent abuse Noel, Liam their brother Paul and his mum suffered from their dad with but at the same time showing their love for their mum.  :'(

Oasis - Rockin' Chair (album version)

I'm older than I wish to be
This town holds no more for me
All my life I try to find another way
I don't care for your attitude
You bring me down I think you're rude
All my life I try to make a better day

      It's hard enough being alone
      Sitting here by the phone
Waiting for my memories to come and play

      It's hard enough sitting there
      Rockin' in your rockin' chair
It's all too much for me to take when you're not there

      It's hard enough being alone
      Sitting here by the phone
Waiting for my memories to come and play

      It's hard enough sitting there
      Rockin' in your rockin' chair
It's all too much for me to take when you're not there

I'm older than I wish to be
This town holds no more for me
All my life I try to find another way
I don't care for your attitude
You bring me down I think you're rude
All my life I try to make a better day

      It's hard enough being alone
      Sitting here by the phone
Waiting for my memories to come and play

      It's hard enough sitting there
      Rockin' in your rockin' chair
It's all too much for me to take when you're not there

      I was unrecognisable

      The Verve sonnet.

      The Verve - Sonnet

      My friend and me
Looking through her red box of memories
      Faded I'm sure
But love seems to stick in her veins you know

Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord
Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord
      My lord

      Why can't you see
That nature has its way of warning me
      Eyes open wide
Looking at the heavens with a tear in my eye

Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord
Yes, there's love if you want it
Don't sound like no sonnet, my lord
      My lord

Sinking fast within a boat without a hull
      My lord
Dreaming about the day when I can see you there
      My side
      By my side

Here we go again and my head is gone, my lord
      I stop to say hello
'Cause I think you should know by now
      By now
      By now
      By now
      By now
      By now
      Oh, by now
      Oh, by now
      Oh, by now
      Oh, by now

      The Verve Lucky Man.

      The Verve - Lucky Man

      Happiness
      More or less
It's just a change in me
      Something in my liberty
      Oh, my, my
      Happiness
      Coming and going
I watch you look at me
      Watch my fever grow and
      I know - just where I am

But how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?

      But I'm a lucky man
      With fire in my hands

      Happiness
      Something in my own place
      I'm stood here naked
      Smiling, I feel no disgrace
      With who I am

      Happiness
      Coming and going
I watch you look at me
      Watch my fever grow and
      I know - just who I am

But how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?

      I hope you understand
      I hope you understand

      Gotta love that'll never die

      Happiness
      More or less
It's just a change in me
      Something in my liberty
      Happiness
      Coming and going
I watch you look at me
      Watch my fever grow and
      I know
      Oh, my, my
      Oh, my, my
      Oh, my, my
      Oh, my, my

      Gotta love that'll never die
      Gotta love that'll never die
      No, no
      I'm a lucky man

It's just a change in me
      Something in my liberty
It's just a change in me
      Something in my liberty
It's just a change in me
      Something in my liberty
      Oh, my, my

      Manic Street Preachers Tsunami

      Manic Street Preachers - Tsunami

      For you my dear sister
      Holding onto me forever
      Disco dancing with the rapists
      Your only crime is silence

      Can't work at this anymore
Can't move I want to stay at home
Tied up to all these crutches
      Never far from your hands

      Tsunami tsunami
      Came washing over me
      Tsunami tsunami
      Came washing over me
      Can't speak, can't think, won't talk, won't walk

Doctors tells me that I'm cynical
I tell them that it must be chemical
So what am I doing girl
Cry into my drink I disappear

Eyes for teeth grating over me
Bring down the shadows of my mind
Sleep and breathe under our sheets
Inhale the anxiety in - between, in - between, in - between, in - between

      Tsunami tsunami
      Came washing over me
      Tsunami tsunami
      Came washing over me
      Tsunami tsunami
      Came washing over me
      Tsunami tsunami
      Came washing over me

      Through September under the weather

In - between, in - between, in - between, in - between

      Came washing over me

      Stereophonics Hurry up and wait.

Stereophonics - Hurry Up & Wait. live at morfa

we wait to wake to get a ride in the rain
buy a ticket they can check we can claim
so we don't spend what's our own for a
seat a place to stop a green light a red
cross they run around naked doing old
      things like the ones before
wait for a break so you can take a little
something that'll make your next break
come along a little quicker than the one
before wait for an answer spy a sweet
dancer as she walks from the door of the
hall wish you waited for your wedding
vows so hurry up and wait
      but what's worth waiting for?
we wait to get warm the car starts from
cold stall to make a first move magazines
made the rules to make us lose wait for
your dream man the house you could both
plan the car in the sales ad the wet dream
with the man you wished that you had
a watched pot never boils sugars seconds
to dissolve see your appetite lost foods
      relevance is lost inside
      so hurry up and wait
      but what's worth waiting for?
so join the queue me and you
wait in line it takes our
      time to be satisfied

      Tom Waits Soldier's Things

      Davenports and kettle drums
      and swallow tail coats
table cloths and patent leather shoes
      bathing suits and bowling balls
      and clarinets and rings
      and all this radio really
      needs is a fuse
      a tinker, a tailor
      a soldier's things
his rifle, his boots full of rocks
and this one is for bravery
and this one is for me
      and everything's a dollar
      in this box

      Cuff links and hub caps
      trophies and paperbacks
      it's good transportation
but the brakes aren't so hot
      neck tie and boxing gloves
      this jackknife is rusted
you can pound that dent out
      on the hood
      a tinker, a tailor
      a soldier's things
his rifle, his boots full of rocks
oh and this one is for bravery
and this one is for me
      and everything's a dollar
      in this box

Good call on the Tom Waits, Dave.

Tom Waits - I don't wanna grow up

When I'm lyin' in my bed at night
      I don't wanna grow up
Nothin' ever seems to turn out right
      I don't wanna grow up
How do you move in a world of fog
      That's always changing things
Makes me wish that I could be a dog
When I see the price that you pay
      I don't wanna grow up
I don't ever wanna be that way
      I don't wanna grow up

Seems like folks turn into things
      That they'd never want
The only thing to live for
      Is today
I'm gonna put a hole in my TV set
      I don't wanna grow up
      Open up the medicine chest
And I don't wanna grow up
I don't wanna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt
I don't wanna be a good boy scout
I don't wanna have to learn to count
I don't wanna have the biggest amount
      I don't wanna grow up

Well when I see my parents fight
      I don't wanna grow up
They all go out and drinking all night
And I don't wanna grow up
I'd rather stay here in my room
Nothin' out there but sad and gloom
I don't wanna live in a big old Tomb
      On Grand Street

      When I see the 5 o'clock news
      I don't wanna grow up
Comb their hair and shine their shoes
      I don't wanna grow up
Stay around in my old hometown
I don't wanna put no money down
I don't wanna get me a big old loan
Work them fingers to the bone
      I don't wanna float a broom
Fall in and get married then boom
How the hell did I get here so soon
      I don't wanna grow up

Is this just a thread to lash up a song you like followed by the lyrics, or are these actually people's favourite lyrics? Because favourite lyrics should be, in my opinion, one or two lines from a particular song - not the entire song.

Depends really Billy like if you look at the levellers another mans as an example because the lyrics tell a story as does Pulps sorted for E's and Whizz and that's what I  like about the Lyrics.

Fair do's mate. Just think most of the posts in here would be better off in a favourite song thread rather than lyrics as lyrics to me suggests a certain part rather than the whole song.

I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes
And the magic of it all
Is that you just don't realise
      How much I love you

      Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton

      There's nothing on the TV
      Nothing on the radio
That means that much to me

      America - Razorlight

      You're a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
      Yes you do

Hey There Delilah - Plain White T's

      But you surely must know
      The appeal between your legs
      Has worn off

      Butterfly Collector - The Jam

      As free as a bird
Or a man on the run

White City Lights - The Who

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for a new revolution

Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who

      How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?

      Champagne Supernova - Oasis

There is one thing I can never give you
My heart can never be your home

      Stand By Me - Oasis

It doesn't matter what they say
I'm gonna love you any old way

Baby It's You - The Shirelles

Baby you don't know what it's like
To love somebody, to love somebody
      The way I love you

Is this just a thread to lash up a song you like followed by the lyrics, or are these actually people's favourite lyrics? Because favourite lyrics should be, in my opinion, one or two lines from a particular song - not the entire song.

Mine have been my favourite lyrics, a couple of which have been the whole song and I usually post a video of the song so anyone can hear the lyric in the song if they are interested.

To me it can be one line, a couple of lines or a verse and chorus but sometimes the whole song is my favourite lyric like my first one Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want.

I am the one in ten
      A number on a list
I am the one in ten
      Even though I don`t exist
      Nobody Knows me
      But I`m always there
      A statistical reminder
Of a world that doesn`t care

So break yourself against my stones
And spit your pity in my soul.
      You never needed any help...
You sold me out to save yourself...

And I won't listen to your shame.
You ran away, you're all the same.
      Angels lie to keep control...
Ooh, my love was punished long ago,
If you still care, don't ever let me know...
If you still care, don't ever let me know

Final verse from Snuff by Slipknot.
